My wife is mumbling me to get this CX5 after I promised her end of last year but put on hold since 99% of the time i WFH during MCO and she can use my manual car. I'm on car hunting mode again as I'm expecting 2nd baby soon. With that, I'm curious:

1) will the back row fit two car seats and one adult?
2) I follow this thread for a while. Common issues that I noticed - petrol pump, side mirror not close completely, rear roof water leaking(rare),  rear suspension leaking and squeaky sounds from dashboard. Does these issues till exists in 2020 unit especially the petrol pump?

To be franked, I'm got phobia from my last ownership of H.city which the unit needs to send in for warranty claim every 3 months. If possible trying to avoid that experience.
*
hell hath no fury like a woman scorned lol.gif

you can fit one adult in the back seat (middle) after 2 car seat has been fixed but that passenger ain't going to be very happy and will very likely have to keep his/her shoulder squeeze in - definitely not recommended.

Huh.. then might not a good choice for this. Sigh... needs to passdown this bad info to her.

Mazdas were never known to be very friendly to their passengers sweat.gif and to be honest, if you have a family with 2 kids, the Honda CR-V is definitely the wiser choice for you. No kidding.

I have no idea how Honda does it but my sister's CR-V is spacious as heck!

Good point. I test drove CRV b4 all behind passengers said want vomit. Lolx. But i will not go for Honda due to bad experiences with them.
*
laugh.gif

when driving the CR-V, you don't take a corner at 80kmph, you take it at 50kmph and while it's super dull to drive in cities, you'll start to appreciate its ride quality on the highway.

yeah, shame on Honda Malaysia for not taking care of their customers yet they still expect their existing Civic customers to upgrade to the Accord.

Hi guys, regarding the JPJ's tint VLT regulations, you guys follow allowed front windshield 70 and rear window 50? biggrin.gif
*
front windscreen at 70% is nonsense :haha: move up to at least 50%, it's not very noticeable. as for the rear, you can paint them black if you want. no restrictions.

If drive on highway a lot, I do expect a lot of stone chips will damage the brittle paintwork.

What would be more cost efficient to protect the paintwork if not PPF?
*
just like water spots from rain, paint chips are inevitable no matter how hard you try to prevent them. they will eventually creep up one way or the other. PPFs may seem like a brilliant idea but the good ones are usually quite expensive - the cheaps are, well, cheap and can be problematic in the long run (say 6 - 8 months).

just drive your car like how you would enjoy it and unless they are etched deep (prone to rust), just ignore it. let it run for 5 years and then send it for a paint retouching, polishing or anything that tickles your fancy.

for all you know, you could be preserving your paintwork for the next owner doh.gif

Hi need some advice,

I was supposed to trade in my myvi for the CX5, however due to the bad price I decided not to sell it. However the bank loan approved. Now I've been driving the car for few days and suddenly my sales agent asked me to sign the Bill Of Sale. To indicate that I already sold off the car to their company. Purpose is to lie? To the bank?

I'm afraid if I do so ill be in trouble in the future.

Anyway advise ?

Thank you
*
a bit more information would be helpful - how much was the total purchase price of your car, how much was the loan granted and have you settled the difference to your SA?

afaik, no SA will let you take delivery of the car unless the difference (ie: amount between the total purchase price and the loan granted) is settled in full.

if you have paid all the sums owing to the SA for the purchase of your car and you do not want to sell your Myvi then there's no reason for you to sign anything relating to your Myvi.

Anyone can share recommended outside workshop for gb oil change. I know SC wont entertain this request even offer to pay for it.

But warranty capped at 100k km is kinda low. Asking for a friend with 70k km cx5 current model, 2.0.
*
Mazda SC will entertain for a gearbox oil change - even if it's still under the warranty period (despite them claiming their oil is for "lifetime") but they usually will get the customers to sign a waiver letter that they will waive all warranty claims related to the gearbox after.

a 100,000km limited warranty is reasonably acceptable.

Anybody used seat covers on their CX5? Especially to protect the seats from dirt and scratches.
*
leather seats are unsusceptible to dirt and can easily be clean off with reputable leather cleaners so i wouldn't worry too much about it. scratches however require a little bit more care but unless you always put hard objects on the seats (which is highly not recommended), i'd say just forget about putting anything on it.

Care to share what is the majority doing abt this gearbox oil change?  Proceed to change is better at 100,000km?
*
there are quite a few claims out there saying the gearbox oil became "murky" at about 50,000km but most of them are unsubstantiated but to be safe, it is advisable to "forced" for a change at about 50,000km. after all, it's just about RM200.00+.

So if done around 50,000km mark, do we need to do it again at 100,000km mark (ie every 50,000 km)?
*
Yes, a change every 50,000km is advisable.

wait... I thought we're advised to use RON 97 petrol due to high compression engine, despite the recommended fuel to be RON95. any issue like knocking sound when using RON95 so far?
*
using RON97 or any higher octane fuel is like taking a preventive measure, some believe that it will be better for the engine in the long run (yes, high compression ratio factor) but it runs fine with RON95. i've personally have not heard any audible engine knocking sounds with the RON95 but i'm filling up with RON97 nonetheless, it does seem to smoothen out the entire driving experience (or perhaps placebo).

QUOTE(melkishi81 @ Jan 6 2021, 02:23 PM)
That's what I read... there's postings in this group  sweat.gif  sweat.gif

so, i've been only pumping ron 97 ever since I took my car. only the first fuel is ron95.

my personal choice is Caltex. Never pump shell or petron. but bhp gives me low mileage. right now I can get 13 km/l for 70% highway and 30% city driving.
*
why never Shell or Petron?

i've heard many ranting about how BHP gives them worst off mileage in the expense of "engine cleaning". i've not tried BHP before because I don't like its color tongue.gif

I now have issues with TWO (2) Dealers. Both took my RM500 booking fee and I can't get my car. How to proceed with complaints ah? Who would hear me? Whom can I refer to?

Please help...
*
the question is; are you proceeding with the purchase with either one or you're just cancelling because you (1) don't want to buy anymore (2) or your loan cannot be approved?

Maybe this has been asked many times, but please let me know if you have the answer.

Is service center open during mco? My service going to due during mco period. If I miss the date, will my warranty get voided?
*
the same rules before should apply now. if your scheduled service is due within the MCO period then your warranty shouldn't lapse but once the MCO has been lifted, you'll be given a 3 - 4 weeks grace period to set an appointment to have the car serviced asap.

car workshops aren't categorized as "essential services" therefore it should be closed, like previously.

i remembered when i placed my booking for a unit, my SA clarified with me that my booking fees are only refundable on 3 grounds:-
1) Bermaz cannot deliver or provide a tentatively near future delivery date;
2) Bermaz cannot deliver the particular model booked; or
3) loan cannot be approved.

I know this because my cousin's Mazda3 booking fee was refunded (no fuss) as Bermaz doesn't have the color that he wanted.

sounds to me you cancelled because you entered into a "bad bargain" and perhaps your refund was rejected because Bermaz records are all linked. it does not make sense on one end you cancelled and on the other, placed another booking with the same parent company but then again, since the HQ has sorted it out for you, that is nice thumbsup.gif

to be fair, while the onus is on the dealers to provide information so that buyers can make informed decisions, we as buyers should also be reasonable. buyers have the right to change their minds (correct) but definitely before an agreement is struck.

no employees will be happy if at first the employer promises a monthly salary of RM10k and then 2 weeks later, autonomously decided to reduce it to RM5k.

if you did contract law then you must be familiar with the notion "caveat emptor" and the example i gave was a reference point, different scenarios but running on the same facts, "meeting expectations".

the situation goes both ways; you claim the SA broke her/his promises but the SA will also claim you broke your promises to him/her/dealer. 2 sides of the same coin. at the point you paid your booking, you promised to buy the car unless there are some intervening factors frustrating the transaction - this is the "agreement is struck" i was referring to.

i deduced that you got a "bad bargain" because you said you cancelled the first one and then went on to another dealer and placed another fresh booking to which it was also cancelled?. if the first one wasn't bad, why switched dealers?

don't get me wrong and i'm not taking sides but it is because i am being objective and fair which is why i posted the way i did because without a booking form signed proper, it's your words against the SA and right now, we have only heard your side of the story.

also, i'm not telling or asking you to do anything. you came here and asked for opinions whether you can have your booking fees paid refunded, i'm trying to figure out whether the SA/dealer is at fault.

just, chill alright sweat.gif

LoL. As you repeated said Malaysia car is costly and I will not agreed what you agreed as you will regretted as not get one you like even you known had problem. As my perspective is dumb when you start repairing. BTW do you know how much a minimum cost to summon a lawyer in a case? Let me tell you, it will cost you minimum 40k not guarantee winning. If you lost you have to bare the winner cost of all. So we talk about close to 100k and the engine only cost you 20k. Do your math. Dude is not that easy to say sue someone in this decade. I always said, do your research before buying anything and weight your circumstances.
*
while i agree that initiating a legal suit is costly but RM100k is an over exaggerated sum and i assure you, RM40k is not "the minimum" - from what has been shared here, there's nothing contentious or involves any issues to be tried thus it will most likely be settled with paper submissions from both parties. at the end of the day, it would either be an out of court settlement or consent judgement.

awarding of costs is also not necessary against the losing party as the court may order that each party to bear their own.

alternatively, the aggrieved can consider consumer tribunal. less costly and less intimidating and a good chance of party reaching an amicable solution.

If your process end there, yes. Unlikely, look at Thailand & Taiwan. But now you against big corporation. Why I known 40K is minimum because me and my partner is suing  someone in other case. This 40k doesn’t end there, if the court case delay until max 2.5 years then will be more.
*
going against big corporations on civil suits doesn't necessarily mean big expenditures. the duration of legal suit depends highly on the nature of the case. there was already a KPI being imposed on judges/courts since the time where Tan Sri Richard Malanjum was the CJ and unless it is a matter where it revolves around highly contentious issues (ie: fraud) which involves a lot of witnesses, most of them get disposed off within a year.

the matter at hand sounds more like the classic sale of unsatisfactory quality of goods which is quite elementary, if i'm honest.

you can get them here.

New GS Accessories Sdn Bhd
8237, Persiaran P.P Narayanan, Seksyen 51a, 46100 Petaling Jaya, Selangor

https://maps.app.goo.gl/tUzDsZ8vf2QsmPZ79

i bought the black colored border one to replaced the stock silver colored border one to better blend into my Mazda3's front grill. Costs me RM20.00 each but that was back in 2020, not sure whether there is a price increase or not.
