ATE Advanced Technology is a fully facilitated computer whole seller in Lowyat Plaza and has been serving the needs of each and pc enthusiasts. It is known to most of the regulars that ATE is the main player of Lian Li Casing and Tagan Power Supply which is very rare in Malaysia market. Besides that, ATE has been an active provider for DFI and Biostar Motherboards. It is situated in Lot 2-07, 2nd Floor, Plaza Low Yat.

The OC Demo is a collaboration between ATE and Lowyat.net forummers. The main objective of this OC Demo is to test some hardwares that can give us some extreme oc results and finally showing it to the people lurking in Lowyat what is OC all about. Lets cut the crap, the bottomline is Coolice get to OC under a very nice ambient with some fans/spectators while some resellers in Lowyat get to know some nice hardwares which are meant for OC but difficult to get them locally. For example D9 Ram and Water Cooling Kit.

The adventure begun around 2 PM where Coolice was busy setting up the setup for some OC Show. It was a quiet day in Lowyat. The first OC quest is a combination of Coolice's setup with an E4300 1.8GHz Processor. It was the 1st time we OC an E4300 and eventually the result came out not bad at all. Below are the setup specification.

CPU : Core 2 Duo L703C551 E4300 1.8GHz
Motherboard : DFI Infinity P965-S
RAM model : Crucial Tenth Year Anniversary DDR2-667
RAM capacity : 1GB x 2
HDD : Western Digital 20G
PUS : Lian Li Modular 600W HPC-600-A12C
VGA : Nvidia 7100GS
Cooling : Watercooling
OS : Windows Server 2003

3.4GHz wasn't bad at all!!

The result we got for this E4300 L703C551 was very satisfactory. It was actually 88% of OC successfully done right out of the box without any burn in. However stability is not tested to save time for other OC Quest and we regret that. The most interesting part of OCing this E4300 L703C551 temp is really low and relatively easy to clock. Not much time was spent in order to get the highest clock speed. For stock vcore it's around 21-22 degree idle while with 1.55 vcore, it remains on 24 degree idle according to SmartGuardian. It wasn't the temp that we were suprised with because both SmartGuardian and Core Temp reported different temp. Core Temp reported much more higher. It was the difference temp between stock vcore compared to 1.55 vcore. It was only a slight increase.

Now is the most interesting part of this event. Lately Coolice has some amazing achievement is the OC scene in Lowyat Forum. He finally managed to OC an E6600 to 4GHz. So after testing the E4300, we begun another OC Quest using Coolice E6600 processor. The only difference of his full setup is the Crucial Tenth Anniversary Ram, Lian Li PSU and the 7100GS. At home he got his 4GHz result using OEM Micron 512mb x 2 D9GKX, Silverstone OP650 PSU and 7300GT. At first, we wasn't sure that whether we was able to hit 4GHz because the capacity of the ram is higher now. If i'm not mistaken, 512Mb x 2 is easier to OC compared to 1Gb x 2. We kept our finger crossed just hoping for the best.

After installing Coolice Processor, we tested Kingmax DDR800 512mb x 2 just for fun first. Coolice managed to OC the ram to DDR1000 2:3 5-5-5-15. It was just helping out Billy cause he wanted to know whether it can do higher that the rated speed or not which is DDR800. So no screenie taken. We quickly switch to Crucial Tenth Year Anniversary and started the 4GHz OC Quest. Coolice got the gem proc from ATE. The notorious L629B364. The L629B batch is acknowledge by OnePageBook (OCXtreme.org) the legend himself. He said L629B363 is a very good OC Proc. Below was the setup specification.

CPU : Core 2 Duo L629B364 E6600 2.4GHz
Motherboard : DFI Infinity P965-S
RAM model : Crucial Tenth Year Anniversary DDR2-667
RAM capacity : 1GB x 2
HDD : Western Digital 20G
PUS : Lian Li Modular 600W HPC-600-A12C
VGA : Nvidia 7100GS
Cooling : Watercooling
OS : Windows Server 2003

Guess it wasn't as smooth as we had in mind. After switching the ram, the OS corrupted. But luckily Coolice did prepare for the worst. He brought his image OS and Ghost it to fix the OS.

Finally, 4.1GHz 4-4-3-5 achieved! A new personal record for Coolice

During that time, there was a Patriot 'Guy' (i don't know whether he is from distro or not) watching the OC Quest. He asked Billy to let us test some Patriot Ram for the OC. So just after the 4.1GHz achievement, we were ask to test the Patriot Ram without any try to go higher than 4.1GHz. We just did what was asked to do that is take out the Crucial Tenth Anniversary and replace it with the Patriot Ram. It was with Blue Heatspreader 512mb x 2 DDR800 Ram. So we just switched it hoping that it would be able to run like the Crucial Ram with 515mhz 4-4-3-5 setting. But the setup couldn't boot up. It means that the Patriot Ram couldn't run that setting. We didn't try to lower our OC to see whether how far the Partiot Ram can go because the Partiot Guy was disappointed and immediately took out the ram. He asked why the ram couldn't go as high. We just answer it's because it might not be D9 chip on the Patriot Ram.

PS: i'm just explaning the truth, no flame please. for verification anyone can ask Billy about this.

Then Billy offered us to test Mushin EM2 Ram who irenic once had very good result with it. But because it's getting late after the fixing the corrupted OS, we said we it wasn't really needed because there are some good result from forummer already and it's proven oc-able. We did the Patriot just as an favour.

So the day was getting late and it was time for us to leave. But Billy made a phone call to one of his very very good customer just before we wanted to leave. He told the customer that we were doing a OC Demo in ATE. Who knows that customer gave Billy a nod to test his going-to-buy-next-day's 8800 Ultra!! ATE rocks!! It didn't come to our mind that we were given a chance to test a brand new 8800 Ultra!!. But the bad part was that WE WERE NOOBS IN VGA OC!!

The interesting part of this Ultra OC is that we were still using the Lian Li 600W Modular PSU. Guess what, the setup didn't had any trouble power up the 8800 Ultra. Not even that, we checked whether there were any whining noice produced by the PSU. It came out nothing. It was just running quietly without any problem. However, this wasn't a conclusion to be made that this PSU is strong enough cause we only bench the VGA for 1 hour the most. We can only conclude that the Lian Li PSU was able to power up the 8800 Ultra from start to the end of the whole OC Demo whereh 8800 Ultra OC was the last.

HDD : Western Digital 20G

VGA : Asus EN8800 Ultra
VGA Cooling : Stock
VGA Driver : Driver CD
VGA OC Tool : ATITool 0.26
Bench Program : Futuremark 3Dmark06
Cooling : Watercooling
OS : Windows XP SP2

The whole setup for Ultra OC Quest

During this Ultra OC Quest, guess what OC problem again. Coolice use Windows Server 2003 but the VGA driver couldn't recognise it. Therefore, Eddie helped us to install Windows XP SP2. So we headed for DINNER. We remember we were damn hungry at that time. The who OC Demo took longer than expected.

After we were back from dinner, the installation process wasn't done. While waiting, we measured the lenght of 8800 Ultra and HD2900XT. It turn out 8800 Ultra is 27-28cm while the HD2900XT is 24-25cm. Both Asus offerings. Initially we intend to try to fit Coolice rig into a Lian Li Casing to determine whether 8800 Ultra and HD2900XT fit into the casing or not. Eventually we hasn't had much time. So we decided to go for the Ultra OC only. Why we didn't ask to test the HD2900XT? Billy told us our fellow forummer Doom bought one form ATE and surely he had some result to post in forum.

Because we didn't have much experience OC a VGA, so we decided just to do a stock 3Dmark score and an roughly highest OC 3Dmark score. We only had enough time to do 3Dmark06. At that time, the only shop still open around the corner is ATE.

We only managed to get one OC run for the 3Dmark06 for the 8800 Ultra because it was already around 9 PM if i remember correctly. So we just print-screened it. During the OC benckmarking, there are quite serious artifats beginning with Test 2 : Firefly Forest. We intend to get a stable OC actually but it was really late. According to Paul (you know who is that?) the artifats pattern shown was most lightly because of too high core OC.

The event turned out very interesting and it was a fresh experience for ATE and us. Such event was first for both of us. We had a great time there cause Billy, Eddie and Steve from ATE were in the industry for a long time and we know them for ages. It was a fun gathering i should say. The OC Demo was instantly took off just a day before where me, coolice, irangan and cableguy were in ATE. We were day from afternoon until the shop closed. irangan and cableguy took off first while i was the last one to leave. The idea came out when we said we intend to try to organise/plan an OC Lanparty for the whole Lowyat.net OC Community. It was after the Modding Competition in Autosurf that such gathering deserved a second try. We tought that this time we can do a proper OC Lanparty/Workshop in Lowyat. Back to the topic, so Billy invited us to try a OC Demo in ATE.

Actually even it were meant to be an OC Demo, it finally turn out to be a OC Try-Out i should say. The OC Demo was never crowded with people. We noticed that not much people saw what we were doing because we were at the corner of the shop. It was actually a little hidden. So it was a great thing for us to be honest because we can enjoy our time just to OC without the pressure from spectators.

Both of us is just trying to have a FUN time. We are not trying to show off whatsoever. It has been quite some time since i myself OC my rig and OC-ing a rig together with another person is a turn-on for me. i never had a chance to OC with anyone before. And it starts from seting up the rig till ripping it off back. This thread is just to show the experience and share the POTENTIAL of any hardware tested. THIS IS NOT A REVIEW THREAD. And both of us were not paid. It was purely OC-FOR-FUN. By the way, potential can always be deceiving.

Why this OC Demo is not open to public? We are not gurus. At least not me. So it was a bit difficult for us to handle the pressure to actually Demo it for Lowyat.net forummers. Because most of Lowyat.net OC United forummers are already GURUs themselves.

Finally, i was a damn lousy Camera-Man. There were plenty of pictures taken but only those posted up is see-able. My hand shakes like hell.

Special Thanks to ATE Advance Technology especially Billy, Eddie and Steve.

yehlai: hrmm... both of us, me and coolice are not ATE staffs. but we kinda have close relationship with them especially billy, eddie and steve. about the event, i just the later part i already explain it quite enuff. hehe...

Vtec(Rock): show off thread? hrmm.... i hope you believe what i said in the later part of the thread, we purely go there to enjoy yourself for a OC Demo after billy said we can do it in ATE if we are serious. for stability wise, i guess yehlai already explained it well enuff.

gengstapo: i wanted to cry myself too, only can snap pictures but cannot take home the hardwares tested. and the pictures taken were sucks.

jsnkok: aHH... too bad you went back that early, that was when we just arrive lowyat cause wasted lot's of time to transpot coolice rig and find a camera.

Radeon: sure, next up-coming event will definately PM you personally.

toughnut: if you check [H] review, recently they reviewed on lian li psu. according to them it was manufactured by Sirtec.

s[H]sIkuA: if i'm not misatken, it's RM3xx.

kmarc: i'll ask ATE if it's possible in the next OC Demo or not. but it will be possible if you buy it that day and demo it on the OC event. hehe..

Skylinester: i believe that's the guy who jumped ship from Czone. he's no longer in ATE cause he's back to Czone again. i never dealt with him before. so no comment here actually.

ATE told me that they are very interested on OC Demo II and OC Lanparty. So i would like to have an Interest Check before we proceed. Nothing is sure yet but negotiation is on now. OC Demo II will be more organised while OC Lanparty really depends on the way we plan to do. So now just for an Interest Check whether who is interested in participating. Please just reply to this thread that you are interested then i'll come out with the list.

the date and time for OC Demo II will be confirmed later. but i doubt it will be on weekends because ATE will be packed with ppl. btw, about the guy eric, i already explained. i hope we already have a clear picture of who he is. he's now in Czone.

for the moment, only OC Demo II will be carried out 1st. those who are interested will be notify when will it be. but nothing is confirmed just yet. it's just and gauge of interest. if it came out with much interest, then OC Demo II will eventually happens. at least ATE has shown their interest. coolice is working on the DI and Phase Change tools. let's hope for the best.

i went to LYP just now and ask eddy about the OC Lanparty. he says "maybe" only. he sounds like not "very semangat". if got very good support, he'll think more about it.
*
hrmm... maybe it's because this time we need a little sponsor for a mobo. phase change is on the way, thanks to coolice effort. but we need a mobo for the test and phase change might kill a mobo. so we asked ATE to sponser a mobo for the OC Demo II. if anyone here are kind enuff to sponser one mobo, i believe there won't be a problem for OC Demo II.

and so far interested parties are not more than 10. it's not really convincing. only sHawTY and yehlai shown interest other than coolice's gang. anyhow, if OC Demo II is not possible, let's do OC Lanparty then. hehe.... we are working on it. stay tune for updates.

antudegil: sure, check this thread often for updates. initial planning is in progress. same goes to you §layerXT, if you want to have a look on this demo.

ahpaul82: sure, i'll leave that to coolice... hehe

s[H]sIkUA: i think coolice is corect on that. i made a mistake there. anyway i'll ask ATE tomorrow. hehe...

raist86: ok... done.

now we are working on OC Lanparty which is even bigger. everyone gets to oc themselves. currently still under initial plannings. but what i'm afraid of is the participants who will join cause initial plannings indicate participants to bring their own rigs for the OC Lanparty. at least some of it. now i'm running a small interest check and it's barely 10 person shown interest. anyway... i'll update more when the time is appropriate.
