Hi guys,
Well I do have astro iptv, and my internet connection is obviously together with the same package as my astro. I kinda leaning towards getting a new tv box to get all those awesome streaming, so was wondering if its possible? While still using the astro iptv internet package ( my mum want the astro, so I cant cancel it unfortunately) and what box should I get? TQIA

Those TV box works using your internet. It does not and will not have any effect on your Astro IPTV whatsoever.

I believe you'll find more info here.

Personally, i've always prefer HTPC, old school as it may. I can game on it on demand and have better software/app flexibility.

yeah. I'm one of a htpc user. previously use full desktop as entertainment hub. but my bills skyrocket rm200+ monthly. then decided to buy barebone Intel nuc kit & build it. it costs me about rm2k in total, but my bills never exceeding rm100 now. windows 10 + android dual boot FTW smile.gif

Actually, the bill wont be that high if you use decent hardware. Common old mentality is, just a bare cheap set of hardwares to stream movies or minimal to play 4k vids, that's where your bill racks up. If you setup a decent rig, at least skylake i7 onwards, your cpu utilization will be very very low, thus, consuming less power. If you get older.. say... 1st/2nd gen i5, to simply play a 4k alone would put your CPU load up to 100%, that's where it hurts.

For me, since i occasionally game at the hall with my boy, therefore its pretty much a full blown gaming PC with a 1080ti. When alone i'll game on my proper PC instead laugh.gif

I believe he was reffering to electric bill. No worries if you opt for TV box or NUC, they are almost negligible.

these boxes range rm200-300, rm500-600, >rm1k.

differences in hardware, features, firmware, support, apps compatibility, video and audio output quality.

there are like 100 brands each with 3 models, plenty to choose from.

which box to get will depend on what speed u hv, what apps u want to use, how well u can use the box and.... budget.

The upgrade is free last time when I did it, not quite sure if its a promo or not.. but what I can vouch their iptv got mo issue whatsoever, unlike some of my friends who are using unifi, they always complaining.. but its kinda weird coz I thought all of them are using tm fiber optic right?

if u r focused on netflix, hulu, i.e. paid IPTV and in HD/4k quality, there is only one box - nvidia shield.

becos most other boxes cannot do that in HD, due to licensing.

do visit this thread, ask the users your pertinent questions:
