QUOTE(homicidal85 @ Jul 17 2018, 09:39 AM) bro, i am a bit annoyed that there are still some ppl who are this unaware but i will try to answer anyway. the price of oil you hear on the news is usually crude oil. minyak mentah. this is not petroleum you pump into cars. this is raw oil that needs to be processed. the price of raw is just an indicator of the price of petrol at the pump because it is the most significant fluctuating cost in the manufacturing process. if crude oil goes up, you can expect petrol prices to go up too. no, the price of regular gasoline (RON89) in the US is not USD1.5/gallon. it is roughly between USD2.50 to 3.50/gallon (MYR2.60-3.80/L) depending on where you fill up. prices are higher for "premium" gas (RON92 and above). Oh ye ke?

QUOTE(Exiled_Gundam @ Jul 17 2018, 09:57 AM) Because our oil (and also many of our agricultural products) were exported instead, since they can fetch higher price due to the quality. Malaysia then imported cheaper oil for domestic use as fuel. If I'm not mistaken Malaysia's oil production is less than the consumption; yearly production is less than 700k barrels but in 2017 the consumption was over 800k barrels. Summore ppl like you demand cheaper oil price. If all of our oil were used domestically Petronas long time ago bungkus already. Oh and for comparison, USA produce more than 13m barrels per year, followed by Saudi Arabia at over 11m barrels. USA population is around 10 times of Malaysia but they produced oil close to 20 times of Malaysia's. Still wonder how they can provide cheap petrol to their citizens? Wow wee wow!
