Anyone using Gigabyte Gaming series 7 or 5 motherboard? whats your VRM MOS temperature when OC. mine gaming 7 VRM hit 97c when oc @4.9ghz meanwhile proc at 75c 8600k. keep bottleneck. open casing side panel and table fan blow direct to motherboard the VRM temperature drop to 82c. MB keep bottleneck. kinda sucks

Hi there, i'm using Z370 Gaming 7, no VRM heat issues.
The VRM problem of this motherboard really depends on luck. many on the Gigabyte forum or reddit has this problem, but i took the risk and I'm lucky to not have this problem.
the workaround is to buy good and thicker thermal pads for the VRM and change it yourself.

yeah true i googled too many have same issue, kinda dissapointed towards gigabyte board, last time 8 years back their board not like this. yours when OC the temperature not so hot? mine without OC default stock just normal play game no aircond room the board hit around 54c.

i tried 5Ghz too but i dont like the CPU temps, so i stopped.

Guess what bro, i took out the vrm heatsink and then screw it back tight. Press very hard and screw tightly. The vrm temperature straight drop....

Prime 95 small fft test at 4.9ghz previously vrm was 97c and keep on raising no ending now become 71c and maintain there no aircond room. If turn on aircond drop to 66c. All 2 hours test prime95. Guess their production really didnt screw tight for some of the board.

I also not sure
Might due to heatsink issue or sensor issue
This weekend gonna check it

i think your issue same like mine lol, the thermal pad between the heatsink and vrm chipset doesnt contact well to each other, myself i took out the heatsink and remove the washer and screw it back super tightly press. theres a donut washer between the heatsink and motherboard very kacao the height. since then when VRM temperature around 70c time i try touch the heatsink and it is damn hot, it is effective now. previously vrm 97c i try touch the heatsink and it is not hot at all lol.

me too. very disapointed towards gigabyte, abit regret should get asus. very very bad heatsink engineered, they focused on atheistic and RGB etc and overlooked the heatsink performance part... guess they learned their lesson and fixed a better heatsink just look at "x470 gaming 7" AMD board the heatsink is so much beefy and cooler. Asus is my next list.
well, im waiting for z390 board heard they gonna launch somewhere this year?

Yup. Tho the gaming 7 has one of the best vrms tho
I wanna wait but the temp too high and caused thermal throttling
I'm surprise it didn't shut down when then vrm reaches 126 C tho
I think should be this year

yesterday i just went to gigabyte website and check out the bios version, 2 days ago they just released F7 bios and the note they wrote 2 things :
https://www.gigabyte.com/Motherboard/Z370-A...support-dl-bios

1. Update CPU microcode for upcoming CPU
2. Improve windows boot time

i flash to this F7 and tried and it is so buggy lag, at the end i flash back to F6 downgrade back.
by the way i guess it is really around the corner the upcoming intel cpu release.

yeah no news yet about the chipset just rumours on those website, some says z390 it is, some wrote maybe 8 cores, regarding the name no one ever mention yet. guess peoples dont care the name lol.
but i bet our z370 board eventhough they released a bios update which supports the next microcode cpu it will not work the best as it is originally designed for coffeelake? hmm.gif maybe z390 is their plan? hmm.gif
im not surprise if the z390 board website they might wrote "Supports latest intel 8th gen and 9th gen processor" lol

Im not going to change the CPU. The 8700k is more than enough
If the Z370 can support 9th gen then its good
If cant also nvm haha
Btw, chipset =/= cpu
