i think ac68u is hard to reach 500mbps.. at most also 300-400 only even if i beside the router. should i upgrade to 86u?
*
500mbps should be pretty easy but not anything after that, since the CPU is bottlenecking. Seriously, if WiFi speed, it's a hit or miss

Just curious to ask, do AC86 really need that 2 cooling fan? I am currently using AC68 while waiting my AC86, I have been always turn on that router for 24/7, no big issue so far
*
I think it needs one, my one running 89C for CPU in an open area but least air ventilation. If the router is put in a place with good ventilation, I think u might not need one

QUOTE(naturalfool @ Nov 23 2018, 11:32 AM)
Actually I am in the same boat...more like I am not confident to buy from China in case of problems and warranty issues.

So am scouting for a Malaysian unit with a price that I am willing to pay.
*
I don even think u can find one below 1k for a Malaysia unit

the price differences enough for you to ship back 20 times (round trip) for a warranty claim

20 times.... hello....

and talk about Asus reliability, i owned 2 Asus routers before, the current one is Asus N12HP, been using for 3 years++, turned on 24/7, never failed.

Maybe i was lucky.

How are you on the same boat?
1 guy refuses to buy from Taobao because he's worried about warranty and loss of items during shipping
And another guy refuses to buy from Toabao because he simply doesn't know how to buy from there

2 different scenario there buddy. Not only are you not in the same boat, you're not even in the same ocean sweat.gif

don't think need to buy insurance.. dent on box only.

I am fine with it, as long as the devices is functioning well. with this price (RMB 789), nothing to complain!!

if u still can't/don't know how to buy direct from taobao, tons of online agents available..ezbuy buy2taobao wiwaa..

or just get one of the sellers in LYN to buy it from you..normally 10% service fee.

gearbest.com looks ok but never tried them.

That AC adaptor is correct but it's possible that the AC adaptor you received is faulty (yes, even if it's new)

You can buy this AC adaptor:
https://www.lazada.com.my/-i211532789-s265886000.html

Works perfectly on my RT-AC68U & RT-AC86U (Yes, I've used both models previously before switching to GT-AC5300)
