its not an antivirus. its a removal tool for malware. mac are vulnerable to it. it can be by surf in browser or downloading files.

Bought 13 inch 1.4Ghz 8GB 256Gb SSD Space Grey instead from Machines on Friday...

At first I was skeptical whether to upgrade SSD or RAM for d past week prior to launch, but overall I feel very satisfied of the specs in the long run...

I played some Steam games, tested YouTube vids and running few programs that is not power taxing, all ran well

Perfect laptop for me in the long run smile.gif

I would recommend at least protecting oneself using any means above over the usual. If you can't afford it, there are plenty of free software tools out there as well. I tend to use Avast and for my office's Mac, we use Symantec.

Actually not needed. It is more of user behaviour’s problem than protection problem.

So attracting, keep visiting Apple website

Planned with 16gb+512gb, any of these two component can reduce if I planned to run Windows via dualboot/VM? Or I should also increase the storage to 1TB? Pricing quoted with student price smile.gif

dun think u can reduce any, if it is your purpose.

1TB depends on ur pockets i think. if you got $$ to spare, of course the more the better.

price to upgrade to 1TB from 512GB is actually same for upgrade to 512GB from 256GB if not wrong. so the extra u paid for storage, you actually get more because apple reduces price to upgrade to 1TB.

My office using Sophos end point. Main reason is because of Ransomware.

I am still using a Macbook Pro Retina 15' Mid 2012 when they first came out..

Back then buy 6k Mbp for my school project + photo editing work... already so expensive..

Still using it until today and the only downside is 128gb and the laptop cannot handle more than 40 tabs open as I am doing my research and dissertations.

Terrible, I am horny to get a new laptop but 15inch is about 12k.. I am not sure if this is Apple increase in price or the inflation in prices of technological devices. I don't really care so much about technology stuff and don't feel is necessary to upgrade them too frequently.

Besides, just horny wanting a new 15inch ligher and faster to support my work process..

Is anyone still using the 2012 Mbp like me here?

Ok lah still got member here,

was thinking yesterday night since the laptop has no value when sold as second hand. might as well convert it into a computer.

get thunder bolt display + magic mouse and keyboard. don’t know if this is cost effective

Not necessarily, I have been in situations where even though it isn't the user's behaviour that was the cause of the issue.

Yeah Sophos is good as well, not just in terms of Ransomware alone but plenty of other features to prevent and to help not just one user but multiple users.

How was the keyboard ... apart from less key travel does is really reliable and not prone to malfunction like keys sticking up .

Decided with 512GB, if extra needed will go with external SSD
