guys,

thinking of buying bike for my wife. thinking of specialized. The issue is I worry how long my wife will ride. So, it is better to buy something that I can use if my wife doesn't.

I am 180cm and using size 54 with 110mm stem. My wife is 170cm height.

So I am thinking of this setup:
1. size 54 with shorter stem, 70mm. If she dosn't ride, I can just change the stem to 110mm and I will be comfort on it as per my current bike sizing.

2. size 52. this will be her idea size but just in case she doesn't ride long, I just change the stem to 130-140mm.

Is the above make sense?

I dont know how long my wife will ride. That's a big question. buying low end bike will be many negative factor on her. Bike berat la, etc. So buying middle end bike like 5-6k would be a better start for her but I am just thinking if she stops riding after a while.

Thanks,
*
Just asking... is your wife used to road bike position?

I was thinking maybe getting a mtb, so you have one when you want to go off road. Or maybe a foldie(mini velo?) and you can always have a bike where ever you go... just some ideas.

she never in cycling except during her younger day as kids or teenager. I am thinking something like mini velo also but she wants RB. So she can ride with me. LOL. MTB is out of option as I had one and sold off as I did not ride it at all. less than 100km in 2 years of owning MTB.

manly hairy legs belong on mtbers. so if u wanna spot hairy legs on an rb, make sure u can whack those lycrans to show dominance and tell them ur hairy legs belong in the peloton and them lycrans should not persoal ur manliness/hairiness

means you already gotten a 54cm bike with 110stem?

if yes, get the 52, and you dont need to change to 130-140stem, u still can ride with 100mm stem, and enjoy the smaller frame (u will like it more)
(btw is really really rare to find 130-140 stem in market, as far as i know, only giant has 130 but special order)

Yes, im on 54 with 110mm stem now.

I am 180cm and based on specialized measurement, I should be on 56. Size 52 I worry if it is too small. Hehe.
