Hi guy,
Kind of new to cycling and plan to get a Gravel or Road bike with the budget of RM4k. But before pulling the trigger, would like to ask for some advice or feedback. Say my use of the bike would be leisure ride and taking part in some fun ride event or gravel event such as “Grinduro” (any Malaysian join these before mind to share their story). 1. Here come the question, if say I opt for a road bike with an AL frame fitted with gravel tires for some gravel ride. Will those ride cause damage to the frame faster compare to actual AL frame gravel bike?? 2. If there is no much different in pricing between Steel and Alloy frame, which is best to go for?? 3. Sure when one spend few thousand on a bike, I’ll choose what I’m fancy on either frame design and brand. Question is will the shop mark up the price if we want a specific model? Say, in overseas website shown a gravel bike with Shimano 105 cost usd1000, will it cost double if we ask to order it? 4. Trying out the bike, if the model I wanted is not available in the shop. Can I try out something that are almost identical in the frame geometry? What I’m currently looking is the Fuji Jari. With above budget is there any other option on gravel for the following manufacture?? A. Olympia B. Canyon C. Giant D. Raleigh Thank you. |

Raleigh Thank you. are there "Grinduro" events here in malaysia? 1. actual use, dunno. from warranty aspect, yes. roadbike n gravel bike are under different category of usage. 2. steel. coz steel is real. 3. the shop carries that brand or not? if the shop can't provide u after-sales support, warranty claim etc, why buy from that shop? u better off buy online and handle everything urself. 4. question is, will u buy the bike that u try at that shop? |

QUOTE(miaopurr @ Dec 5 2019, 10:12 AM) Hi guy, are there "Grinduro" events here in malaysia? (Not at the moment, but I think they might add new venue in the future.) 1. actual use, dunno. from warranty aspect, yes. roadbike n gravel bike are under different category of usage. (May I ask, what the biggest gravel tires could be fitted on the road bike?) 2. steel. coz steel is real. (Most of the biker here opt for steel still? Don’t have to worry on the weight issue?) 3. the shop carries that brand or not? if the shop can't provide u after-sales support, warranty claim etc, why buy from that shop? u better off buy online and handle everything urself. (What I’ve seen through their website, they do carry those brand but not that specific model.) 4. question is, will u buy the bike that u try at that shop? (Sure I’ll get it from them if they do able to order what I want, there are alway better to get it from a shop so can get some after sales support.) |
