my ram is kingmax DDR2 800 cheap ram i think.
which option is the best if i don't overclock. (default 2.4ghz)
1. set the ram at sync mode with FSB, running 533mhz for DDR2 1066 for FSB 4-4-4-12 2. set the ram running at 800mhz for DDR2 1066 for FSB 5-5-5-18

the problem does not lies in the ram it's the mb that is holding you back it seems that cannot run at 400 mhz when you try it at 1:1

mostly ur mobo wont boot beyond the clock speed,or maybe this is the limit of ur processor, but mostly because of the mobo....

Probably u've hit the CPU limitation. Stil, 3.42ghz is good from ES.
Try lowering the multi and boot with higher FSB if that is what u wanna test.

NB and FSB voltage default is a bit low if u wanna go >3.4GHz. Set RAM speed as low or near to default as possible b4 u know how much FSB ur proc can go. From my o'c trails, i feel tht ES require more voltage during o'c, i tried >1.6v vCore b4. Do try a lot trail and error if u wanna clock ur spec extremely. How much vdimm you put when running DDR2 800mhz.
Try Unlinked, FSB 1600, DDR2 800, vdimm 2.0v, 5-5-5-15. 400 x 8, vcore 1.5v(higher cause got vdroop)

Im using this baord + E6600, what i can said is, i feel that this board not able to handle 3600MHz, no matter how high vcore you pump. this is my setting for 3200MHz daily use.
My Spec : Intel Core 2 Duo E6600 @ 3200MHz CoolerMaster GiminII Cooler + 2 x Silverstone FM121 Fan 2 x 1GB Kingston ValueRAM DDR2-667 @ DDR800, 44412, 2.0v, Black slots. (Hynix FP-Y5 RAMchips) ASUS P5N-E SLI (BIOS 0401) 1.56v chipset Sapphire ATI Radeon X1950XT 256MB (PCI-E) OCZ GameXStream 700W PSU

Yup i agree with ahpaul82, i've got a B0 ES. it will boot to win xp @ 3.6ghz but no way it's prime stable. Sweet spot is 3.2ghz @ 1.45v and i'm stil tweaking it. Only if it's a B1 ES, it will give a better OC result

QUOTE(yehlai @ May 25 2007, 04:20 PM) ES cannot be easily boot when downclock the proc multiplier.. its bug i think. Not true. I've used an E6600 ES before, and i've reduced the multiplier to 8, 7 & 6, but none of them have some problem when booting up. What makes you say that?
