- Increasing the boost: checked.
- Strengthening the ignition system after increasing the boost: checked
- Facilitating the increased boost with higher air flow rate: checked
- Higher stability for the higher speed: checked

All of these will bring much, much more fun to the owner in driving this Civic 1.5T. Plug and play.

Civic 1.5 TC, had the ignition system strengthened to make sure that the boost and fuel aren't wasted on misfiring. We use TM Works Ignite VSD system this time. The system comprises of the Alpha16V, AlphaCI and a dedicated coil harness.

The Alpha 16V, as its name implies, increases the supply voltage to the coil to circa 16 volts, and the Alpha CI irons out the spikes and fluctuation in the amplified voltage to ensure a consistent performance of the ignition system.

Stronger firing at the plug gap is important for boosted engine. A denser cloud of compressed air and fuel molecules makes it harder for the flare to tunnel through the plug gap to initiate a spark, especially at the high rev range.

These will make a difference. Most noticeable are improved throttle response and quieter engine.

Mazda 3 BM Skyactiv, upgraded with TM Works Ignite VSD Alpha16V with its dedicated VSD harness, boosting the ignition coil supply voltage to 16V for stronger spark. Stronger spark reduces misfiring across the range. It's especially important to have stable and successful ignition at the high rev range because the available time to ignite the air-fuel mixture gets shorter, while the dwell period* of the coils remains the same.

*Dwell is the amount of time required to charge an inductive coil to its maximum energy level.

Mazda 3 BM Skyactiv GVC, newly serviced at 10,000km, had the ignition system reinforced right away with TM Works Ignite VSD kit. The Ignite VSD kit comprises of the Alpha16V (coil voltage booster) and the accompanying VSD harness.

The Ignite VSD kit is 100% plug and play to the ignition system, providing up to 16.5V (from ~13.5V) of supplied potential to the ignition coil. With the Ignite VSD kit, the ignition/spark potential is increased by ~5.5kV across the spark gap, reducing misfiring, engine noise and improving engine response.

Other than voltage boosting, the built-in stabilizer also help reducing electrical noise to the ignition coil for a consistent coil dwell time, which contributes to a stable operation of the ignition system.

Fail-safe feature prevents hassle due to product malfunction, which is indicated by the green LED.

Stage 2 tuned Audi RS3. Had the ignition system strengthened with TM Works Ignite VSD Alpha 16V and Alpha CI. Every single milibar of boost, and every single drop of fuel counts - but not with any misfiring caused by the naturally deficient ignition system. We had it ironed out pretty well. Linear, smoother and quieter too!

Suprima S. Previously installed with TM WORKS Direct Power Harness. Came back to upgrade to the Ignite VSD kit comprises of the Alpha 16V (ignition booster) and Alpha CI (ignition stabiliser).

Customer felt impressed with the basic upgrade and couldn’t resist to go full upgrade to 16v. Once felt cannot be unfelt.

A seasoned K20Z in the Civic FD2. After the owner has done all the necessary maintenance and replacement to put it back in shape, it was upgraded properly for the first time with TM Works Ignite VSD kit. The kit comprises of the Alpha 16V ignition booster and the dedicated VSD harness. The idle was immediately smoother and quieter. First drive impression was fantastic according to the owner, that he couldn't get used to the improved throttle response and reduced VTEC drone. The valve timing transition was smoother without a small hiccup, and pulled stronger.

For every 0.1V of voltage drop at the supply, the spark potential is reduced by typically 150-180V. If you are able to reduce the voltage drop, by means of powering the ignition coils directly by the battery main terminal, you regained at least 300V of spark potential upon ignition.

In modern high compression engines, the air/fuel mixture gets so dense that it requires higher spark potential to initiate a successful spark at the right timing. Failing to ignite, or igniting at a slightly retarded timing, causes lost of performance.

Powering the ignition coil with TM Works Direct Power Harness reduces the chance of misfiring and retarded ignition. As result, almost instant recovery of lost performance that the engine is supposed to deliver.

Prevé. This CFE is tuned with higher boost and richer fuel mix by MBOxCFE - ECU Tuning. We intend to not change the ignition timing as it has already been delicately optimized by the factory. To cope with the higher demand on the ignition, we boosted the coil supply voltage with T.M.Works Ignite VSD Alpha16V, to minimize the misfiring at high rev and high load condition. Result is exhilarating!

A remapped Mazda 2 Skyactiv. Upgraded with TM Works Ignite VSD Alpha 16V ignition booster kit. The coils are now being supplied with ~16.5V to prevent high load misfiring. Most importantly, the benefit of high compression ratio is not impaired by the tendency of undetected misfiring due to high intake charge density, or expanded plug gap over time. More responsive and quieter engine should be expected with such upgrade.

A stacked (remap + chipping) Proton Prevé CFE. Upgraded with TM Works Ignite VSD Alpha 16V ignition booster kit. The coils are now being supplied with ~16.5V to prevent high load misfiring. More responsive and quieter engine should be expected with such upgrade. Most importantly, all the extra boost and extra fuel aren't wasted on the inevitable misfiring.

Jazz GK L15, had the ignition system fortified with TM Works Ignite VSD Alpha 16V ignition booster with its dedicated booster harness, providing the ignition coil with supply potential up to 16.6 volts. As result, it gained in throttle response and eliminated the misfiring.

From experience, the L15 engine have a tendency to misfire during deceleration especially after a simple muffler upgrade. This will help.

The VSD Kit provides boosted voltage (up to 16.5V) to the individual ignition coils, with a simple goal to strengthen the ignition system. Header upgrade without changing the adjusting the camshaft timing can sometimes result in over-scavenging, causing certain level of misfiring. Strengthening the ignition potential ensures that the additional performance from the header upgrade isn't impaired by any side effect.

Toyota Sienta XP170, had the 2NR-FE's ignition upgraded with TM Works Ignite VSD kit, comprises of the Alpha 16V and the dedicated VSD harness. The ignition coils are now supplied with boosted voltage up to 16.5V (from a typical 13.5V), enabling the spark plug to fire at a stronger potential (additional ~5.5kV). This makes the already smooth power train smoother and quieter during acceleration, and responded better to the throttle command.

Vios XP150. Upgraded with the Japanese TM Works Ignite VSD system, which comprises of the Alpha 16V and Alpha CI, powering the ignition coils with boosted and filtered voltage via the dedicated VSD Harness. Instant improvement in throttle response and engine noise (not that the 2NR-FE is noisy but still noticeable).
