4 reasons why u shud spend the RM at the fair:

1. it's a fair, good price...!?
2. no gst.
3. SST to kick in on 1 sep.
4. RM weakening again, 4.06 per $

spend, spend, spend! biggrin.gif

2nd one only 1080p... now videos/tv are 4k hdr, atmos, dtsx... so, buy new la! biggrin.gif

if u r referring to problem units, i understand.

statistically, every brand has problems, bad models, bad units, etc.

cannot generalize... only individual experience.

i myself have a onkyo 9 years, a denon 2 years - zero problem.

before that, had a problematic nakamichi, a problem yamaha - will never buy these brands again... for me. biggrin.gif

We are on opposites spectrums

I had never had any major issue with Yamaha

The Onkyo I had... HDMI digital card issue to the max....

HT wise, most impressed with Sound Fusion's demo room this time. Located level 9 at the area where you would collect the CD. Speakers were by Starke (Halo series) but the subs were Rythmik FV18s, 2 of them with a pair of sealed subs from Starke. It's a 7.4.4 setup, AT screen with LCR behind it. Extremely impressive stuff, sternum rattling impressive I might add. The John Wick 2 tunnel shoot out scene demo was bone rattling, those slug shots from the shotgun was very close to how a real one sounds and feel.

For music, I think my favourite speakers this year are the Rosso Fiorentino Volterra. I'm a huge ribbon guy myself having own Sierra Towers with RAAL tweeters. But damn these Volterras really gave my RAAL tweeters a run for its money. Very impressive implementation. It's true what people say, once you go ribbon you never go back. Those soft silk dome tweeters are just over populated now a days.

I went there yesterday and bought a JVC HA-FX103BT wireless earphone.

Its a cheap earphone, however the sound and bass is comparable to my Sony XB50.

Those looking for cheap and good sounding wireless earphone should try this. thumbup.gif

Onkyo shd replace the HDMI card if there are issues. Mine was replaced even though it was out of warranty
