Buy 2nd hand.. its always tax free.....

trust us.. 2nd hand 250cc bike wont regret, you will get over it very fast. No point buy new..

Unless you are willing stay in B2 class license for life...

Now for the bike recommendation:

1. Kawa Z250 cheap to maintain (not as cheap as kapchai but its cheaper compare to other Jepuns brand)
2. Benelli TNT 250.. Twin also .. sounds like bigger bike since its using 360 firing order but its Chinese bike basically, you need to do more research on bike reliability and spare parts availability in MY
3. Yamaha R25 twin Fastest compare to the rest, look handsome baby R1, but engine maintenance is on the high side since its tuned for performance, valve clearance every 10k Km and so on..

Beside that, most of the 250 are single bore cylinder (Yamaha XMAX, KTM duke 250, Honda CBR 250, Honda CB250R (new))

If it was me, I would just buy secondhand naked 650 like the Er6n/z650 because it is really cheap (often same price 2nd hand as the smaller 250), and get a B license.

That said, if you want a comfortable urban commuter, then you can get a naked bike. You will sit more upright and able to get a better view of traffic and be more comfortable.

The Kawa Z250 is a good starter bike with good aftermarket support so its ok to buy used.

Most 250s will be single. So if you don't like a single, then you have to go bigger. The older Naza Blade 250 was a V twin if I remembered correctly, but that being a twin, it rides on a bigger chassis as its bigger 600 brother, good if you are bigger size, but not ideal if you are smaller in stature.

If its just for commuting purpose, I would just get a Yamaha NVX155 ABS scooter. I have one of that in Vietnam. Automatic, Powerful enough, big storage, has ABS.

A note from my friend, there were some versions/batch of z250 that has engine problem. I am not too sure on which and which, but he advice me not to.

naked bikes will have more upright position than the fairing bikes.

For you, i would suggest the Kawasaki Versys-X 250. Priced just a shy of 25k.

ill vote z250 for easy commute in the city and easy for new rider,

otherwise get 2nd hand big bike, avoid china brand coz after sale is not that good

special note to modenas pulsar ns200 in case you need better performance per money at 9k+

basically the same with some minor tweaks for different powerband and usage.

my vote also goes for Z250... but used.... not new... 250 not worth buying new coz as mentioned before, ull get bored of it rather quickly and the itch to upgrade will come. buy used so when u sell it, ur loss is minimal...maybe even can sell for the same price u bought it.

buy new, once the bike is out of the shop... automatically 1/3 of the price drop...use it for longer... will drop even more.

Used Z250 rider here for the past 2 years and about 40k km icon_rolleyes.gif

n yes, i have the itch to upgrade.

As responded by fellow bikers here thumbup.gif

1. Z250, 2nd hand will do. No need to buy brand new. Plenty available. My brother bought one last year. Less than 2 years old, 14k km mileage for RM14k only.

2. Z250

3. Z250

4. Z250. Parts - can get virtually anywhere. If you want to spend money, go straight to Kawa, Glenmarie Shah Alam, else most big bike shop have it and can service it. EZPZ.

Get 2nd hand Z250, ride for a year or two, in the mean time, upgrade to B full, and 3rd year, go for bigger cc. Z650, CBR, Aprilia, Ducati, etc etc etc. Plenty to choose from whistling.gif sweat.gif

If you want to be special, you can be one of the early adopters of the newly released Honda CB250R, I personally think its one of the better looking 250 bikes right now
