I want to screen mirror my Macbook Pro to TV to stream football matches as I have no Astro. Don't want to use HDMI cable. Not sure if it's worth it to buy Apple TV just for that.
*
For me it's worth because it's powerful iphone 7 processor and will last a long time because Apple seldom update Apple TV.

Anyone try to stream 4k movie on their server? I just got one and tried side by side comparison with oppo 203 and somehow ATV 4k only support multi channel PCM but on oppo it can play Dolby Atmos. I guess this is the only drawback for now.
*
That's shame! But movie from own Apple Store can Dolby Atmos right?

Latest AppleTV 4K update removed my AppleTV’s ability to turn off my TV. Was working fine previously. sad.gif

It’s actually not. Apple TV have hardware bug that many people complain. You can google it. You can try reset Apple TV to see if that works.

I don’t see why we need TV app when the iTunes movie app work just fine. confused.gif

So this is What is New in Apple tvOS 12.3, any different?
A better looking Apple TV icon, that it, inside is very similar as previous design.
Another changes is this new Apple TV app is finally support Malaysia iTunes account.

By the mean time, I totally No Regret buying Apple TV 4K, it is the only TV Box can playback Dolby Atmos for Netflix.
Beside this it is the cheapest way to get legal streaming movies up to 4K HDR.

Also, the processor is freaking powerful and no issue playback own collection up to actual 4K UHD Blu-ray without compression quality film.
Infuse doing it freaking awesome here.

I agree on that, that TV app is very useless for us and I never use.

It may a little useful for US and UK people as they can subscribe others TV channel there and can watch nearly everything in one app place instead of go for separation apps. But still it is not useful for me, I rather go different apps to watch. Also due to limitation like Netflix won't support, third party not streaming service apps not support, this Apple TV app became unable cover everything in one app, it is very useless in my opinion.
*
But it looks nice nevertheless... rclxms.gif

It's good if you decided to use stereo HiFi with Projector. You can just connect project to Hdmi from Apple TV and do airplay to your stereo. No more long hdmi needed.

I have been using LG 55" UK63 Series UHD HDR Smart TV to watch mostly Netflix. is it worth to buy apple tv 4K if only have Malaysia iTunes account?how can I play local live tv or abroad live tv such HBO etc? are they need to subscribe and pay? is the 32G version just enough? if you buy the movie from apple tv, where the file store?can save it in NAS?
thanks all! smile.gif
*
32Gb is enough. If only have itunes Malaysia is worth since you can buy 4K movie with Dolby Vision. I hope your tv support Dolby vision.

I think HBO only can subscribe through Astro.

QUOTE(Zhe Xia @ Jun 29 2019, 03:40 PM)
Is there any APP I can download/install from Apple TV App Store to watch Chinese drama from China/Taiwan/Hong Kong ?
So far I found Gt TV Taiwan APP but it required account registration with Taiwan SIM card number only, So this App for Taiwan country only, people in other country cannot register account.
Because unless I go to Taiwan to buy a SIM card for my smartphone than only I will have a Taiwan phone number to register an account in Gt TV website.

Other APP I found on Apple TV that play Chinese TV are from Christian Organisation that is not what I want to watch.

Or is there a way to install APPs from iPhone App Store into Apple TV?
Because there are a lots of APPs from iPhone App Store can play Chinese drama from China/Taiwan/Hong Kong.
*
I think it's a no. Haha. Not sure if iQiyi can.

New APTV4k 32gb user here. Love the Netflix with Dolby vision and Dolby Atmos playing both together on my LG oled B6. However found out that infuse can play my 4K remux atmos hdr movies over local NAS, but where is the atmos? Looks like this is the biggest drawback to become the best tv box.

On the other hand I had 2017 nvidia shield too, local USB  and Local NAS playback was perfect supporting all 4K hdr Dolby Atmos. But this box Netflix streaming sucks. No Dolby vision no Dolby Atmos.

On the other hand, the above 2 don't have any 4K disc player, to make a complete home theater sources, Xbox 1 S/X is required.

Conclusion, there is no 1 complete box that consolidates all 3 above to become the ultimate 4K HDR Dolby Vision Dolby Atmos movie source yet. Sad that we need to have 3 devices at this point of time.
*
But the convenience of streaming outweigh the 4K disc. All my Blu-ray disc is wasted. Unless you are videophile or have band internet connection

Just curious, how do you guys keep track or discover 4K (or even HD) movies that go on sale? Is there a website that conveniently lists down price cuts or we basically just need to keep browing the Itunes Movie app from time to time?

Hi, is anyone experiencing issues with Netflix app recently? I'm on the 2-stream subscription through a 30 Mbps Maxis FiberHome connection (Speed tests shows normal performance ~30 Mbps up and down). I'm on the latest 12.4.1 tvOS for the aTV 4K.

AFAIK, the 2-stream package does not include 4K video streaming, so 2 simultaneous streams should work fine.

Lately Netflix has been buffering for ~0.5-1 minute when starting any video, sometimes it gets stuck indefinitely. Playback after that point is smooth though. This didn't use to happen 2-3 months back, when playback was almost instantaneous.

There's also the problem with starting a video that is passcode protected (16+, after entering the passcode, it no longer autoplays the video. Pressing play does not respond either), but I figured that it is some bug with the program rather than an issue with buffering or starting videos.

I have 4 stream package. I will check it tonight

Thanks for taking the time to test.

Not sure why it is happening myself, though there is a thread on MacRumors with a similar complaint.

I'm wondering if there is some DNS geo-location issues, or else IPv6 related routing issues (Maxis enables IPv6 nowadays, but I don't really know if Netflix uses it). Sometimes it gets better if I switch to one of the public DNS services (1.1.1.1 or 8.8.8.8), other times it is worse. Or it could be Maxis Fiber..... hmm.gif
*
Or maybe the instability of the AppleTV? Have you try restart?

Ok, well i didn't reset it as it's also streaming to another device. However, Netflix on both devices will exhibit this delayed start quite often. I'll try that next time.

Thanks.

Either reset or the wifi router is just not able to cope. Or there's some interference with wifi signal. You can switch to 5Ghz band.
