the reason i think its high/hard is cause we not compete with SG only. Indon also heading toward that and they are more cheaper. plus their govt keep promote the industry wherever they going.
*
Very true

My constant worry is that we fall behind, because the race to be #2 ASEAN Tiger now is getting hot

If Algerian, Morrocan and Qatar Navies could buy and afford Aster....why not Indonesia?

*
Qatar is rich as hell, they can drop money on dozens and dozens of fighters in one shot tongue.gif

Both Algeria and Morocco only carry Aster on one ship each, and only Aster 15 which comes at a vastly different price point from Aster 30, because the 15 is point defence and the 30 is area defence

The total cost of operating Aster 30 also includes a better radar which can be expensive! biggrin.gif

Fair enough to differentiate point defence and local defence missiles

Yes Aster 30 has some BMD capability against SRBM at least. That is one of the reasons why it's freaking expensive

But not sure if SG has the Block 0 or what version. Block 0 doesn't do BMD

With $7.7 billion budget...Indonesia can allocate more than $1 billion for procurement.
That would buy and outfit two Ivers comfortably I think, but only one AAW destroyer on a level with Type 45 or Hobart

QUOTE
I don't know whether this list is accurate, but seems plausible

Europe
Aster 15: $27 Million (Generation 10) - France, Italy, UK
Aster 30: $34 Million (Generaton 10) - France, Italy, UK
ROLAND: $12 Million (Generation 7) - France, Germany, UK
ROLAND 2: $15 Million (Generation 7) - France, Germany, UK
ROLAND 3: $17 Million (Generation 8) - France, Germany, UK
ROLAND VT1: $24 Million (Generation 9) - France, Germany, UK
MEADS: $70 Million (Generation 10) - Germany/Italy/USA
*
Not very useful as it gives no quantities. And what is this "Generation" business biggrin.gif

The Aster 30 and MEADS at least is wrong according to defense-aerospace:

user posted image
SAMP/T Aster 30 vs PAC-3 Patriot contract costs

where each battery is 1 radar and support set plus 3 firing batteries

Also states that Aster 30 is ~$10 million per missile compared to ~$8 million for PAC-3 MSE

ESSM is ~$1.5-2 million per so it's not surprising I would think to put Aster 15 somewhere arond the ~$4m mark

My intention isn't really about comparing Iver with Hobart, Formidable, etc.....It's only about having worthy air defense system for TNI-AL. Simple.

*
Well, you have to define what is considered "worthy"

Yeah agreed
Frankly more than I can remember on the spot

Well, IMO controversial defence buys would include:

Aermacchis, A400, Aludra UAV, F-5Es, LMS, Gowind delays, Kedahs, Scorpenes, Lekiu delays, Kasturi (though I understand there was some dispute with the Germs), Laksamanas (incompatible gear), Jerung/Perdana Handalan, AV8, Steyr, Adnans,

Mostly issues with pricing and contract performance

What's the name of the new training ship? Gagah Samudera?

Furthermore, the Israeli navy (bizarrely like Singapore, had not updated its harpoon missiles for years or replaced them, in spite of acquiring new systems and platforms) is already spotted with the launch canisters. Pictures from the link above and source is from gettyimages:

Boeing producing 78 new Super Hornet Block III, production from 2020 to 2023, delivery 2023 to 2026

Cost per aircraft with inflation is about $66 million in 2020 dollars

QUOTE
The total life expectancy of any Block III Super Hornet, new build or updated, will be around 9,000 flight hours, a fifty percent increase over Block II aircraft.

Super Hornets in the Block III configuration will have five major upgrades over the previous Block II types. These include are conformal fuel tanks (CFT), updated and added coatings to reduce its radar signature, a set of new mission computers and data links, and a single, readily customizable wide-area multi-function display will go into each cockpit, including the rear seat on two-seat F/A-18F models.

In addition, two previously planned upgrades to the Block II Super Hornets are getting rolled in with the Block III program.  These are the ability to carry a modified centerline drop tank with a networked infrared search and track (IRST) sensor and an improved satellite communications (SATCOM) system. You can read more about these updates in detail in The War Zone's past feature on the Block III Super Hornet.

What to do, that time need to please our PRC overlords.

IMO if the APMM OPV design proves to be a success, the RMN should scrap the LMS part of their plan and just replace them with OPVs. Everything about the LMS gets on my nerves.
*
Can but we will need to buy dedicated minesweepers and hydrographic ships, cause those are part of the plan, remember

Unless a containerised solution can be implemented on the APMM OPV design, which I'm not sure about, but maybe DAMEN have something in mind

Hell I wonder why we don't just buy everything from DAMEN anyways

You forgot what the Brit Gurkhas actually are doing there

So we need to berkomplot with them to initiate regime change biggrin.gif

Actually well, I think it's unlikely they will sever 50 year old relationship just for this, but as I pointed out earlier, this type of political difference is one of the reasons why Brits won't select Brunei to increase their Far East presence

If we are smart we will start offering them a base here too with plenty of land to run their jungle warfare school... But not so sure we really are that cool with Brits...

Meanwhile Singapore is all huehuehue Brits will pivot to their state now

So long as the project is delivered on time, with reasonable cost, and without major defect, nobody cares, go ahead and make money.

But when the project is fucked up because people are greedy, then you really should start questioning if peoples' loyalty are to the country, or themselves.

Especially in the case of Govt business and sovereign defence like this
