i hope not...i thought their navy already agree that the idea like that is stupid and cost a problem to supply and maintain.

^^ Plan every year 3 units to be ordered. Bakamla ordered 3 units OPV 80M in 2017. Another 3 units OPV 60M and 6 units Fast Patrol Boats to begin construction in 2019. Total Bakamla need 225 units OPV.

Boeing to integrate Legion Pod onto F-15C Eagle
user posted image

QUOTE
This ability of IRST to detect and track aircraft via their thermal signature has led a number of industry insiders to label the system as a ‘stealth beater’. While low observable (LO) aircraft are able to avoid radar detection through a combination of airframe design and special airframe coatings, they are not able to mask their heat signatures. Indeed, the nature of the specialist coatings and surfaces being applied to stealth aircraft is such that they actually increase the thermal signature, actually making it easier for IRST systems to acquire LO aircraft than would be the case for older-generation target aircraft.

legion pod will be in the market in few years.... ‘stealth beater’

QUOTE(Frozen_Sun @ Sep 11 2018, 10:59 AM)
Yes....sending A400M for regular cargo sorties seem very inefficient. Better use the money to build low cost local cargo ships and ports. It takes less than $11mn to build the new Bintuni Class LST. Can carry hundreds times more cargo than A400, although much slower

user posted image
*
a lot of thing can play into that decision. from my point of view, in strategic way having additional strategic airlifter ie A400 which can land on beach(seach on youtube) would be a good start if there is an emergency in play such as natural disaster. basically, the plane will be an first emergency responder with trained staff while waiting for ship . cargo ship or LST will be send after that as it take a lot of time to get ready and arrive to destination.

the best example for this is looking back at Malaysia during sulu invasion as c130 arrive first with equipment and gear while other heavy machinery will arrive with cargo.

in economic view,i dont know what Indonesia trying to do. to me their CASA/IPTN CN-235 good enough just add the ability to land on beach. plus it is cheaper and cost effective. although it have less cargo load than A400 but its doable.

who know what the top leader thinking. maybe they see other factor in play thus resulting in that decision.

Looks like on August 24th last month Indonesia just conducted a Tender for MALE UAV.

Based from Anadolu Agency news the competitors are:

• TAI Anka (Turkey)
• Aeronautics Dominator (Israel)
• Safran Patroller (France)
• CASC CH-4 (PRC)

No news yet which UAVs are down selected for the top 2 for the next tender phase.

correct me if im wrong....i thought Indonesia have economic problem now and the state will be worse in coming years plus they have a lot of project underway from medium size tank, SU 35 to subs. is it ok for them to keep other project from going while other still in making???its like they trying to juggling while running, singing and sleeping in process. kinda high expectation.

if this going i am betting on those TAI Anka and CASC CH-4.

No worry. The defense budget is the second highest allocated in the 2019 National State Budget. The Indonesian Defence Ministry even proposed an increase for the 2019 defense budget.

Anka & CH-4 likely to be down selected.

They are doing pretty well actually

Evryone agrees Indonesia has huge economic potential (just like Msia... But even bigger) but so far they are just underdeveloped and very insular... Of course held back by their breathtaking corruption

IF they can pull out of the slump their corrupt practices have put them into, they can be THE powerhouse of SE Asia... IF

Well let's see what happens
*
the reason of my concern is not about budget or the indonesia state of the economy but mostly the global market. as most of the market leader show and tell they sense an economic problem will happen soon. that is why there is a lot of story about that and the govt agency try to calm the market.

as this also about defense, the american tariff and ban can be seen as an attack to china and they will retaliate. this is what make people paranoid as most global market was held using Dollar america. its a steady currency but not perfect.

lets just hope it does not happen

Everyone is effected with the trade war between the US and PRC.

Anyway in its effort to modernize the Indonesian military procurement have been planned in the Minimum Essential Force Program (MEF). There is 3 phase in the MEF Program: MEF 1 (2010 - 2015), MEF 2 (2015 - 2019) and MEF 3 (2020 - 2024). So we will see and expect more procurement by Indonesia up until the end of MEF 3 in 2024.

Btw what is happening with SME Ordnance? Are they in financial trouble? Saw a news that their workers have not received salaries for 2 months.
*
the goal is the be less effected than expected. that is why most country try to dump US dollar. now japan hold most of us dollar other than US reserve although i am sure singapore did not sell their share. dont know which will lead to what.

SME Ordnance?? i heard of the financial problem in the news but did not pay any attention to it. atreyuangel may know about it. try tag him.

Takiyuddin had also clarified that one of its Jabatan Amal volunteer corps member was an army veteran who had worn his own medals when he escorted party president Datuk Seri Abdul Hadi Awang.

The uniforms worn by PAS' volunteer corps during the party's muktamar (general assembly) on Saturday (Sept 15) drew brickbats from the veterans group who said that it was an offence under Section 140 of the Penal Code.

https://www.thestar.com.my/news/nation/2018...s-from-patriot/

people said about the dress but actually about the medal worn by the veteran.

but this is for muktamar PAS which should not be an inspection or some sort.

ok back to the topic
the dress is actually very similar to an active military dress which is actually already wrong
when he actually don the badge it is also wrong

hence the issue, selama ni pun ada jugak,  but dunno why this time quite vocal towards PAS,

but knowing Arshad Raji, hehehe sendiri mau igt la

but to be fair some party also highlighted other organization that has similar ceremonial dress to the military

why not Patriot also voice this out
*
UMNO red dress right??dont know about their inspection but does it similar with military?thought they just jalan2 only....

but this PAS is very similar to color and ceremony. i only know about this now so dont know if this have been around long. read some comment it been done before...
