QUOTE(agent sawyer @ Feb 5 2019, 03:41 AM) I doubt you will find a 100% made in a country miltary product now. The turret of the Abrams is from Germany. Terrex's suspension is from Ireland. Many F-35 electonics are from the UK and Israel. Why even the Anka had Israeli origins... |

SAF will be receiving the first batches of hundreds of new ST Kinetics New Generation Armoured Fighting Vehicle (NGAFV) this year:
https://www.shephardmedia.com/news/landwarf...ingapore-army-/ The NGAFV will replace the M113A2 in SAF service. So far, several variant-prototypes have been seen..IFV with 30mm Lance turret, Bridge-laying, 105mm light or "medium tank as some would like to call" tank versions. It will be interesting to see how the production models look plus the turrets used. I am thinking SAF may not go for Lance but something like Rafael's Samson Mk II Remote Weapon Stations with Spike launchers (integrated inside the turret). QUOTE(Fat & Fluffy @ Feb 10 2019, 11:56 AM) Interesting..so the NLOS can now be fitted on a light strike vehicle?Singapore has practically all the versions of the Spike -"..already has a variety of missiles from the Spike missile family, for ranges between 1-25 km (Spike NLOS)": https://www.israeldefense.co.il/en/content/...d-asian-country * the Asian customer for Spike SR is Singapore: https://www.facebook.com/oursingaporearmy/p...155214576521063 What interests me the most is Sea Spike NLOS that can be installed on SG's USVs or this - RSN stealth specialised marine craft: ![]() This post has been edited by Mai189: Feb 10 2019, 01:24 PM |

Meanwhile, current operators of Spike LR e.g. Singapore, Israel, Spain, etc. with range of about 4-5km can look forward to an upgrade or already upgrading i.e. Spike LR 2 (5.5km range from ground and 10km range from the air) using the same launchers and systems. Sg bought theirs in 1999..Australia just bought the Spike LR 2 in 2018.

QUOTE(xtemujin @ Feb 16 2019, 10:15 AM) Here's the China Coast Guard vessel patrolling Malaysian waters around Luconia shoals yesterday. Like every day. This is a very strange thing to proclaim neutrality about. Blatant breach of another country's sovereignty...depending on which side of the fence you are at.![]() https://twitter.com/GregPoling/status/1095757993461858304 |

QUOTE(azriel @ Feb 15 2019, 08:18 AM) Probably one of the most detailed observations of the Type 218SG currently:http://gentleseas.blogspot.com/2015/09/key...s-revealed.html This is worth noting: the type 218SG likely consists of a horizontal multi-purpose lock that allows for launch of naval divers, UUV (under-water unmanned vehicles), rapid launch of >6 surface-attack cruise missiles (when combined with the other 6 torp tubes..this allows for the launch of >12 surface attack cruise missiles).. Sg's mindef simply describes these new capabilities as "wider range of mission payloads" - less sensitive la. The ability for a SSK to launch cruise missiles is not something new...with Israel's Type 214 derived Doplhin 1/2 submarines already having that ability. The additional mission payloads will probably mean that that the 218SG shared tonnage of >2000 tons non-submerged and >2200 tons submerged may be baseline figures. The true tonnage (I suspect)is probably in the range of 2000 to 3000 tonnage..refer to the 70m Collin class submarine. ![]() ![]() Submarines are force multipliers...the question is will SG expand its submarine capabilites. It is hard to tell as SG likes to buy in small batches. This post has been edited by Mai189: Feb 17 2019, 04:56 PM |
