The Kaplan MT (Medium Tank) will always be a joint development between FNSS & Pindad. FNSS sales coverage is Africa whereas Pindad sales coverage is Asia Pacific & Middle East.
Don't even care. Better than selling nothing at all. Lol
That is right. Pindad sought fnss's assistance. You mean selling to under developed countries..sure thing. Maybe that is the area where you should excel in. Cant imagine a south korea, japan, taiwan, etc. buying it would we? And of course Africa!
Its is a dedicated Medium Tank with rear engine. Does it have a rear ramp door? Nope. If you want to complain please do so and send a letter to FNSS and PT Pindad. Lol.
Oh and please do send a letter also to Rheinmetall for naming their Marder 105mm a Marder Medium MBT and Hanhwa for their K21-105 a Medium Tank. Lol.
Well good for MPF if it has 8 - 9 cameras. Afterall it is the US Army requirement. If they need 8 - 9 cameras good for them.
I dont care what you call it!. But im glad you would have to agree it is a 30 ton plus ifv/apc with a 105mm gun on top. So much for a dedicated tank design. You are misleading the whole forum and i am happy to point that out.
Who cares if it has or has no rear ramp door? The ifv version has a ramp door as you have shared.
More pictures...do not visualize a bms. I see some screens. It is probable it is at an infancy stage of development which will take a long time given the diverse nature of indonesian equipment.
Well ofcourse. Why not? Anything wrong with that? Lol. Same goes with ST Kinetics and Irish Timoney on the development of Terrex 8x8. They even built the Terrex 3 prototype in Ireland.
So what? Don't even care. Like i said before better than selling nothing at all. Lol.
I've been in this forum for quite a long time and i never even post negative remarks about Singapore. I respect Singaporean and especially Malaysian members in this forum as iam a guest to their forum.
Indeed. St initially collaborated with Timoney way back in 1980s....you can say we bought the design. But improved upon it. That was my point. Pindad sought Fnss assistance in designing this ifv/apc. Pindad needed expertise. FNSS was happy to share.
Have you sold it to another country? Is turkey buying it? St sold warthog apcs to the UK.
You are the one who started this rant when you could simply have agreed to disagree, even though the facts point otherwise.

My guess is a 120-130m sovereign class based frigate from St marine with multi mission bays to carry everything from helicopters to uuvs to usvs to uavs. But witn the firepower of a Formidable...coupled with enhanced sensors.

RSAF F16V (previously F16 blk52/54plus) serves both interdiction and strike roles. The upgrades not only covers AESA radars but electronic warfare capabities, new targetting capabilities, new networked capabilities, etc. RSAF deploys Amraams and Aim-9Xs on F15sgs and f16s.
The F35 is not a light strike aircraft. It is slated to replace F18s, F16s, A10s, etc.
And if you believe SGs propaganda, the F16Vs will become obsolete in 2030. But Lockheed will still be happily selling F16Vs now and in the future..and if it could..after 2030..because..they say F16Vs are very advanced 4.5 generation jets that will be deadly after 2050s.
The most likely situation is that SG will stick to a 3 jet combo, F15Sg, F35 and F16V..in the same fashion of F15Sg, F16 Blk 52/54 plus and f5S/t. It is also does not seem "Sg like" to spend billions only to use the F16Vs for only 10 years.
This part is comical..RSAF does not need F35s to deal with RMAF. And the current RMAF inventory of aircrafts (let alone those that can actually fly) is good when compared to the region?? Smoking weed.
Ive been watching SAFs purchases. SAF takes a holistic view of regional developments..it is not targetted at any particular country but ensures that the region as a whole is not overwhelmed by any large power. It is a very matured approach to defence acquisition. Any movement by any world power must take into consideration on which country Singapore will throw its weight behind.
Talk of rivalry and military conflict between My and Sg is simply childish. Both countries are in the FPDA. And RSAF jets have been defending My airspace for years thanks to IADS Butterworth. It is like saying the UK and France will go to war due to bilateral disagreements and historical baggage.
No regional country will dare contest with RMAF over Peninsula Malaysia...because behind RMAF is RSAF.

For comparison, Endurance 170 has a full displacement of 19,000 tons. The Dokdo has a full displacement of 18,800 tons. Will there be an Endurance 180?
Goodbye old Endurance LST/LPD

The Republic of Singapore Navy (RSN) has revealed the development of a new type of unmanned surface vessel (USV), which will be used to improve the country’s maritime security and homeland defence capabilities. RSN is set to deploy the unmanned ships to patrol the Singapore Strait, as well as detect and neutralise mines on the seabed to ensure that the country’s shipping lanes are safe for navigation, according to the Singapore Ministry of Defence.
"The USVs are slated to be equipped with advanced sensors and software, making them capable of carrying out their operations at a much lower cost than current models."
A total of three types of autonomous surface vessel is currently being developed as part of the initiative, namely the Coastal Defence USV, the Mine Countermeasure USV with towed synthetic aperture sonar (TSAS) and the Mine Countermeasure USV with expendable mine disposal system.
The Coastal Defence USV is being built to carry out coastal patrol operations, while the Mine Countermeasure USV with TSAS is intended to help detect underwater mines on the seabed. The Mine Countermeasure USV with mine disposal system will be used for mine disposal activities.
RSN’s latest USVs are designed for high-speed operations and manoeuvrability.
In addition, they will feature a built-in collision detection and collision avoidance system in order to enable them to navigate safely and operate autonomously in proximity with other vessels.
The USVs’ integrated command and control systems will enable the Operator Control Station, located ashore or on-board platforms at sea, to control the movement and payload of the unmanned vessels with minimal manpower.
Furthermore, the USVs are slated to be equipped with advanced sensors and software, making them capable of carrying out their operations at a much lower cost than current models. The technology will also allow the manned vessels to be deployed at further ranges from Singapore and for more complex missions.
Each of the three types of USV is approximately 16m in length, has a displacement of approximately 30t, an endurance of 36 hours and a top speed of 25k.
The USVs carried by RSN new Multi Role Combat vessel or MRCV (think it will be one of the Vanguard frigates) will probably be equipped with long ranger sensors and optional weapons including Spike missiles. A few Spike missiles can literally knock out enemy frigates and sink smaller vessels or at least achieve mission kills. As the USVs are small and stealthy, they can get close to enemy ships whilst the MRCV can be a long distance away...RSN has said that the new USVs are supposed to provide an additional 150km situational awareness at least in addition to the MRCV's own radars and sensors.
Note: RSAF F16V should be rolling out soon...or this year as the upgrades and validation tests will take about 2 years. The program started in 2016 by Singapore.
It is not an upgrade to blk 52/54 series. The MLU is for the blk 10/15 first batches of f16s. But better that then nothing. Theyve got a large area to protect but a small air force.
Indeed. It is s considerable financial outlay. Decide/Buy 1st then talk. My has been looking or interested in all kinds of aircraft for MRCA for years and years..
Both the Beriev and US-2 are much larger aircraft. The CL-415 is about the same length as our EC725 Caracal. But about time..hopefully no more haze from Indonesia.
Something that is probably less known than Sg's F16V...
SG has been upgrading its Apache helicopters to what is probably the Israel Saraf standard instead of the Guardian standard. After doing some research, I now know why. The Saraf is probably one of he most deadliest attack helicopters ever..
So what new diclosed abilities does the Saraf has...what Ive read thus far:
1) new satcoms for comms, enhanced network centric capabilities/situational awareness and control of UAVs 2) ait to air combat 3) new weapons - such as Spike NLOS anti tank missiles (range is 30km when shot from the air..this is amazing...the current hellfires only have a range of up to 10km) https://www.flightglobal.com/news/articles/...ffering-399815/ 4) new electronic attack/counter-measure systems 5) further digitilization..
---------
On air to air role, it is known that Apache has been tested with Stinger missiles previously (at the end of wing stubs) , but I think it is possible that Saraf carries pythons missile cued to the Apache/Longbow radar. Sg has pythons.
For e.g. in 2018, an Israeli Apache shot down a stealth drone:
Sad both MY and ID spend so less on defense while SG spend most within ASEAN.
My feeling is defence is absolute necessity for any country. You cut back on your defence at your own risk. Feel that MY, ID, TH, PH should be spending a lot more on defense. That way, at least, India can be countered even if China is hard to counter. And 10 countries of ASEAN together can at least pose a credible challenge to China if the initial steps are taken.
Raising defense budget and efficiency of expenditure may be two of the most important initial steps.
India??? We should be focused on Japan and Korea as first step and then China, Russia and the US.
