I would recommend you switch to Asus RT-AC1300UHP. I am using TP-Link C3150 v2.

Yes. Very good coverage and very stable, plus it does have IPS and built in antivirus as well, so it protects all your devices and IOTs. It is also very affordable, and cheaper than most of the high-end Asus routers. See here for a quick review from bro Jjuggler: https://techcyn.com/2018/03/14/tp-link-arch...3150-v2-review/

It is not as good as the high-end Asus routers but it is definitely worth the money and more.

ASUS RT-AC86U - potentially some issue with the 2.4GHz WiFi on 'recent' sets.
May want to hold off first, if you are considering this one.

Anyone has any opinion about Tenda?

I use the mikrotik CCR1036 with 2 10Gb/s ports, a mikrotik fully managed 16 port 10Gb/s switch, with a fully managed 24 port Gb/s 2 port 10Gb/s switch. The CCR1036 with 36 CPU cores is full ready to perform software NAT and QoS at half its port capacity (28Gb/s) (a non blocking switch is defined as having half the port capacity for forwarding as traffic that goes in must come out somewhere).

For wifi i use both asus and the tplink router they give in wifi mode.

Better not update to the latest firmware then, as it will affect the unifi tv.

Using AC68U as my main router....

as for AP, i got a few and i like to change accordingly.

now using AirPort Extreme and C1200 as an AP

as for Wifi,
-AC68U broadcast dual band at full strength on 5GHz, medium strength on 2.4GHz
-C1200 broadcast dual band at full strength on 5GHz, medium strength on 2.4GHz
-AirPort Extreme broadcast only 5Ghz at full strength (in my bedroom biggrin.gif) this is where i connect my Time Machine and also my NAS. easy for me to configure in my bedroom.

no reboot and everything works seamlessly.

The regular N12 or also encompasses N12HP...?

I got 2 units N12HP, one as an independent router covering an entire double storey house, worked flawlessly for over 2 years, replaced the old VIP10 D-Link router.

The other was a repeater to Unifi Lite's TP Link C1200 covering 3-storey house, that one dropped kao kao that in the end I partially destroyed it within months. Recently replaced both N12HP and C1200 with Asus Lyra.

want to ask you guys, what is the best router (stability & speed) to get for Unifi 30(later 300mbps)? Budget want to limit around 500-600 if possible.

My current TPlink C7 v2 is behaving badly after few years usage, hang/random disconnect/unstable connectivity.

Try the TP-Link Archer C7 v5 or v4. It has better hardware, and newer firmware, when compared to the TP-Link Archer C7 v2. If you don't want C7, try the Asus RT-AC1300UHP.

Thanks for the suggestion. I try to avoid TPlink for now.
Do you know if the RT-AC1300UHP has a heatsink in it? I've had some experience where tplink products become hang that is caused by heat. It happens to my RE350 range extender as well.

I saw that the AC68U has a heatsink in it. Although its a much expensive product but ultimately if its a much more stable router with no issues then i'm thinking if its worth spending RM8xx for it.

I am not too sure, but the Asus RT-AC1300UHP is definitely a good buy, and the AC68U is more of a good buy. I am using TP-Link C3150 v2 myself, and it have never hang and remain warm, and I have left it on 24/7.

i used AC86U with my streamyx 8Mbps earlier this year and it was so goooooood..
all the intermittent disconnection, no coverage, etc. was replaced with a stable wifi & VDSL connection (using old Aztech modem as bridge).

overkill, but if you have the $$$ it's worth it.

I had the AC5300 (big and bulky, and the power brick is literally a brick) but sold it off after using the the AC88U because it's more stable. Coupled with 2 AC68Us around the house.

I recently got a TP-Link RE650 to extend the range outside to the patio area.. Seems to do a good job as well.

Yes I think it will suffice. I have mine on the lower ground level at one corner of the house and it covers everything except the very last room of a 3 storey house as well. The bonus and thing that I utilize and love about it is the 8 LAN ports unlike most other routers. Helps that I got it at a great price in Singapore too. smile.gif

That is also AP actually, but AP connected via wireless backhaul. An AP with LAN backhaul or with LAN connection is much better than wireless mesh.

Bro since you have 1 AC5300 and 2 AC68U why don’t try on AiMesh?

I'm using AiMesh but the TP-Link RE650 was a cheaper alternative that I plugged near the corner wall facing outside.. at least I don't need to have wires dangling to a separate router.
