im just using official service items and schedule.
myvi can only use that type of EO right if im not mistaken. ( feel free to correct me on this)
as for the iriz, can use mineral, semi and fully syn. SC and officially as per user manual, it recommends that semi-syn is more than enough for Iriz. and if you send for service they will default auto use semi-syn oil. If you want fully syn you have to request for it.
So dont need to go into the fully syn vs semi-syn debate. I just follow what the car makers think is best or adequate enough for the cars that they produced. They know better than us.
And besides its a freaking campro engine, its a robust tank. Proton knows it. Not like use fully syn on that campro will suddenly make the campro become a better engine lol.
So yeah, as per official servicing items, the cost is what it is as i have calculated above.
anyway yeah i get your point on the bolded item as well. A lot of people have difficulties or just hate the cvt on the iriz.
As for me, well I could adapt it since day one. So i dont find it a problem. Just need to learn that CVT especially Punch CVT, works differently than a 4AT.
Hence the transmission on Myvi or Iriz is not a deal breaker for me. Both are fine for me, working as intended.
But my gripe with this 4AT though, its reluctant to downshift when you tekan minyak. Thats what i felt when i went test drive yesterday. Making overtaking acceleration seem slower.. At least i feel its slower and more laggy than my 1.3 iriz, yes even with CVT, and also my old myvi 1.5 lagi best..
I suspect its due to the way they tune it to make it more fuel saving and for the EEV status of the car, etc.. Which is quite a shame, because i like the 1.5l dual vvti engine a lot more. Oh and one more thing, for all the complaints the Iriz had for the engine + cvt transmission noises, the new Myvi's engine + transmission is even louder. I cant be the only one who thinks its loud right? Even every review video i checked out on youtube, when you pedal its seriously loud the engine sound. Overall NVH the Iriz still performs better than the new Myvi.
I used Saga FLX before, so believe me I have no problem driving with the CVT. But it doesn't change the fact that I hate the way Punch CVT behave. If they can make the CVT how Toyota & Honda did, then I would not hate it as much I think.
I believe you are right about Myvi gearbox tuning. But believe me, I have no issue overtaking now. Just like you said, you need to learn the gearbox behavior then you won't have any problem at all.
From your response you do seem to be more inclined to buy another Iriz. Maybe wait for the facelift version?
