most console launch will have an issue or two, Switch is no exception
it's already more than a year old, almost all of the launch issues are already fixed
newer batches shouldn't have any issues, Nintendo's hardware are lot more reliable compared to other consoles.

If you don't mind the warranty, grab it in Japan, as the previous shortage seems to be over already.
