This is 'the' Need For Speed game that I always wanted. After "Need For Speed: Underground 2", it has been a series of similarities. "Most Wanted" was a huge success on the X-Box 360 while "Carbon" rode on the success of its predecessor. Gamers still enjoyed the new features and AutoSculpt was a nice new addition. "Need For Speed: ProStreet" brings back circuit racing and non-illegal events, which I hoped for a return. Also, the feature that I am most proud and am looking forward to the most is damage effects. For a long time, EA Black Box had omitted this. Not this time. With a brand new game engine, next-generation graphics (photorealism) and damage system, this is no doubt going to be a very different road for all Need For Speed gamers... and we are all hopeful, come November 2007.

I watched a HD trailer from GameTrailers.com of NFS Pro Street "Speed Challenge". I must say, the gameplay and style is just like the games before NFS Underground. The damage effects seem very limited, I did see the hood of the cars flying though. It is looking good.

Another delay ? First Crysis demo then this? Its amazing what games are being released (crammed towards the end of the year) at this stage of the year. Of course, it is the holiday season. I mean... UT3, Crysis, NFS PS, and did I mention FlatOut Ultimate Carnage?

While waiting for November 2007, let's play a little game. Create the most creative tagline of NFS ProStreet...

Here's mine:
"Smell the burning rubber on the streets. NFS ProStreet..."

I've played EVERY NFS games starting from the first ever Need For Speed. The best looking 3D graphics every (at the time). Most importantly the cars flies like soda can when being hit (ahhh good times).

Pro Street really made me excited again after a poor NFS Most Wanted and Carbon. Underground2 was the best NFS ever since Hot Pursuit2 (PS2 version).
*
"Best looking 3D graphics everytime"? Not the case for
1. Need For Speed Most Wanted
2. Need For Speed Carbon [ crappy, it was just ridiculous for them to make another undergound racer... ]

I felt like kicking the developers faces when Carbon was released. I slapped myself and said "not again. not another useless underground racer". Most Wanted lasted a wee bit longer because of pursuit chases. As for Hot Pursuit 2, I didn't really like it. It was EA's attempt to get back to racing class cars like Ferrari and Lamborghini but the game fell flat with redundant races and lack of variety. Underground 2 was thumbup.gif , it was a 'perfected version of the groundbreaking NFS Underground'. It was solid, it was strong and it felt good. Then EA rode on the success of NFS U and NFS U2...

When ProStreet was announced, I was praying it would not be an underground racer. It wasn't. It had one thing that I could only dream of one day from these folks; realistic damage effects. OMG, there it was. I watched a few videos of the cars wrecking and believe me, it's awesome. A car that even 'touches' the side barries will have its left/right mirrors dangling and then breaking off. Wow.

lazy to look thru, any idea on the system requirement?
*
Expect a min of 1.8GHz, 512Mb memory (1Gb recommended) and 128Mb GPU [to run game]
Or Windows Experience Index of 3.0

While recommended should be 2.8GHz, 1Gb memory and 256Mb graphics [to play game at medium settings]
Or Windows Experience Index of 3.8

For best experience (to me) should be: 3.2GHz dual-core, 2Gb memory and 8800 GTS or better [at high settings]
Or Windows Experience Index of 4.6

For ultimate experience: Quad-core processor, 2Gb memory and 8800 GTX [ultra settings]
Or Windows Experience Index of 5.2

The above requirements are based on my opinion and are not the official requirements. Still, its to be expected.

just wonder .. will this game running on directX10?
*
I don't think so. If not I would have known about it sometime ago. I seriously don't think EA BlackBox would want to bring DX10 just yet, as they would be cutting a huge chunk of gamers (DX10 GPU + Vista). FASA Studios went bankrupt for doing so (Shadowrun game developers, DX9 but need Vista sweat.gif ). Also, Halo 2 Vista (but big boys Microsoft never cared, coz' its also a huge hit on the X-Box).

As for widescreen support, I am not too sure. It would be nice though.

So much talk about NFS ProStreet... what about the No.1 feature I am most excited about ?

Damage Effects ??

Saw gameplay video where the car greased the side of the railings and the side-mirror just dangled... then fell when hit again! That's awesome !!

No... not mad. Just sad due to the circumstances I am in. And yes, I will be playing this game on a 'game console'. Have not finalised on 'which' console - PS3 or XBox 360. The XBox 360 has the type of games I love more while the PS3 is more of a future-proof hardware machine.

And BTW, NFS Pro Street is going to be the best NFS game ever made. It really brings back that visceral sense of pure speed.
