That looks like a normal amount of backlight bleed to me. I doubt that backlight bleeding is covered by warranty though, it's pretty much accepted as par for the course with the 22 inch monitors. Gotta be a reason why they're 1k cheaper than the 24 inchers right? Couldn't hurt to try though.

QUOTE(X-Zen @ May 31 2007, 08:52 PM) so any difference if use it for watching video or playing games? Yeah, you'll have to run your games at lower resolution(1024 x 768 or 1280 x 768 if the game supports widescreen), but if you're sitting sufficiently far away from your tv it probably wouldn't look too jaggy. I guess if you're going to be watching movies and playing games most of the time then using an lcd tv as a monitor might make sense. Also I don't know how many tvs support 1:1 pixel mapping which is important because you'll end up with a distorted image if the game's aspect ratio is different from the tv's.

QUOTE(demomode @ Jun 12 2007, 12:59 PM) Call to Dell just now, they said u only got exchnge with at least 7 dead pixels. That really sucks man. If I had known their dead pixel policy was so shitty I never would have taken the risk getting my 2407. Luckily there were no problems with my monitor, but seriously seven dead pixels!??! Shake the monitor until something breaks inside and say it was ruined during handling.

I highly doubt that Dell would entertain any such request. They'll probably brush you off with a "We have no way of specifying which version you'll get" comment of some kind. People get that a lot during the uncertain period when a new revision comes out. Why so worried about getting a refurbished unit anyway? I bet that they are actually much more common than most people think. I mean apart from the occasional obviously-recently-handled unit with smudges and or scratches on it, how do people know whether their monitor has been reconditioned or not? I'm guessing that everytime someone returns a monitor to Dell over minor issues like wanting a newer revision or dead pixels they probably flash the firmware to the latest version and repair it and send it back out as "new". All I'm saying is: If you can't obviously tell its been reconned just treat it as new.

Yeah but you can always tell a TN panel from the more expensive ones by the TN's poor viewing angle.

Hey bryan I see a rather worse for wear looking copy of A Game of Thrones on your bedside table. Best book ever. Yeah I just wanted you brand new HC owners to know that I hate you all. If only I had waited a few more months.... Oh well, think if I return my old 2407 to Dell I'll get a HC one back?
