Their dispatch delivers on Saturdays as well. You are not the only one who got it on Saturday. I got mine on Saturdays for a number of times.

Is it normal for LCD monitor to dissipate quite a lot of heat? Especially at the back/top part of it. It's hotter than my previous 17" CRT.

Dell users, specifically 2407 series. How are you guys deal with this? Or just ignore it?
*
Turn on the air-cond 24x7. Nuff said.

oic...hmmm..how come my dell 17" lcd can chnage resolution without affecting the positioning?
*
Who said anything about the positioning? It is the text quality that will be affected. You run anything other than the native, you get sucky text quality.

Oppss sorry, i'm new to wide screen monitor. what i'm asking is, emm..i base on the dell17" lcd for this example because i only used this LCD before only.
there is a button in the monitor which "auto adjust".

my 22" like dont have this function. correct me if i'm wrong.
*
Not all monitor has the same function. Some function are disabled when you connect via DVI. You can try connecting using analog and see if what you want will appear.

Agreed. Never watch widescreen in 4:3. THe picture will be off and it will appear stretched.
*
You got it wrong. The picture will only be streteched if you watch 4:3 media on widescreen. There is nothing wrong watching widescreen media using 4:3. All you get is 2 larger black bars on top and bottom.

bcoz of higher native reso., it will appear jaggy a bit, maybe sit a little further from the screen then u ll feel better
re u sure it will be stretched? isnt it will just leave two black bars at the left right corner?
*
It actually depends on the LCD, the setting and the type of connection. Try watching astro on a LCD TV, watching C.Ronaldo is like after he put on 20 pounds.

i was actually thinking of getting a new widescreen monitor bout 20-22" with less than rm1500,n i want to use it as a regular tv for my ps2 n maybe in d future ps3..any such monitor exist?

DELL 2007WFP. It has S-Video, but I don't think that is enough for you. DELL 2407WFP suits your requirement, but it costs more than RM1.5k

It's not DELL's fault. I've been using the monitor for quite sometimes already. The ant is still alive and fortunately it went away tongue.gif I guess most likely its the design flaw whereby they did not seal the LCD panel tight to prevent ants from crawling into the panel.  doh.gif  Never faced such problem with my old samsung 172x.

Where can I find my service tag code for DELL E228WFP LCD Monitor?
*
There are no service tag for LCD monitors bought separately with system.

If that is so, how do we report a problem or make a warranty claim with DELL?  sweat.gif
*
They track your warranty status via your unit's serial number.

The MAJOR difference is, WS comes in 16:10 or 16:9 ratio, whereas normal screen is either 4:3 or 5:4

Human eyes are meant to see wide, thus getting a widescreen is better. 4:3/5:4 screen is slowly becoming unpopular now. Once you go wide, there is no turning back! laugh.gif

Those who have insects crawling up to their LCD, use this program to drive the insects away. laugh.gif

How I wish I have insects inside my panel, I would love to try the program out.

There will not be an end of product line for 20" and below. Manufacturer will not stop production of smaller size panels due to economics of scale since demand for small, portable and light laptop will still exist. Who on earth is going to carry a 20" laptop outside? Not everyone wants a huge screen. Some consumer demands smaller screen for space saving in tight manufacturing area.

Bryan is right, I suspect the so called 'mouse lag' he is experiencing is just lagging due to the old hardware. And you can't trace input lag by just playing FPS. Even a normal camera can't capture that lag, let alone your eyes. For me, a single 8800GTS is the minimum if you want to play the latest game on 1920x1200 reso.

Yup it's definitely the ancient gfx card. Last time I was playing Far Cry with 6800GT on the 20" monitor n the mse cursor was lagging like hell. Cant even aim properly. It was purely the gfx  lagging. After I changed to the 7950GX2 the cursor was smooth as babies bottoms.
*
Ahh..... the old times. I can still remember trying to run that game using my old 2005WFP with a 6600GT. I get around 15fps if I'm not mistaken. And for those who doesn't know already, that is not input lag.

Their staffs at PCFAIR certainly do.

No they don't. DELL is 5 days a week work, certainly they are not some chinaman company who loves to squeeze every single juice out of their employees. But their dispatch delivers on Saturdays.
