I donno much bout LCD.. But at this moment ..im thinking to get rid of my bulky 17'' Monitor n replace with LCD to save my workstation.

So what would you guys suggest me to buy? I like Samsung..(d look) but is more expensive right? N what are the things that i need to take note if im going to get a Widescreen monitor.. Will any Games or Software unable to display properly in d LCD? Or will my old graphic Card (FX 5200 i think) support it?

Go for normal ratio, or widescreen? what u guys recommend tongue.gif
Oh yea.. my

Budget :totally below rm 700... less d best..keke

Main Usage : Doing 3dsmax, Photoshop etc... d accuracy of the colour is important to prevent diffr outcome when print out n viewing. Some say LCD colour not as accurate as Normal monitor.. can anyone verify this?

As a graphics designer myself, RM700 will be really tough for you to get a good LCD monitor with acceptable color accuracy. The cheapest LCD that the color reproduction is acceptable for me would be the DELL 2007WFP. That would costs more than RM1k. If your budget is limited, I suggest you stick with your old CRT first. Do not get a TN panel LCD because it will truely jeopardize your work, especially if that's your living.

TN panel LCD is the de facto for LCD monitors. Its cheap and fast response rate, but downside is lower color dynamics and narrower viewing angle than PVA or MVA panels.

Basically, there are quite a number of things that you should take into consideration before purchasing. I know its tempting to get an LCD right now at your limited budget but as what kianwee had informed earlier, IF you are really into designing and etc, getting normal TN panel LCD might not be the right choice for you. Do not be careless in spending as RM700 is not little and you might not get something that you wanted.

Basically, people would not recommend you to get TN Panel LCD as the color reproduction are not as good as those higher end ones. Thus, IF your MAIN INTENTION of getting an LCD is for designing, best recommendation is to wait and accumulate more budget first before spending as getting TN panel is not the right choice.

About the terms around, TN panel are basically the base line panel for an LCD whereby it is having poorer color reproduction and poor viewing angle as well. It is good enough for those who are only using the LCD for normal usage like normal gaming, surfing etc but for professionals, it might not be enough.

Just pick your choice wisely before purchasing and enjoy every single bit of the money spent.Good luck smile.gif

Edited : One more thing, saw that you are using an older version of GC. Do make sure it can support the LCD first as well..

Hi guys, I just got my benq 24". Any software or tuning guides to recommend? The color setting when I plug in a ps2 on component is totally screwed (too dark).

And any player with superior scaling feature (using mpc)? The world is so pixelated suddenly.

The glossy thingy they mentioned before is just aesthetic value . It's the LCD case's finish , that's it . Some popular LCD with glossy case are like Samsung R7 , 226BW etc .... Older style LCD used metallic finish .

Actually, they're talking about glossy lcd panels.

My sony x-brite still seems to give off really vibrant colours compared to non glossy displays even though it's nearly 3 years old now.

However the disadvantage is that because of the glossy surface, if you have a badly placed monitor or light source from the back, it tends to reflect. Also more noticeable on black desktop backgrounds.
