Advice needed here. One of my tyre just burst beyond repair.
Current configuration:
3 tyres all at 80% used condition
1 tyre brand new original spare tyre (different model tyre)

How to configure back the best tyres placement?

Do i buy and replace just a pair of tyre and put them at the rear, spare tyre keep back at the bonet.
or
Replaced all tyres and spare tyre keep back at the bonet.

Another issue is this spare tyre that come original with the car is very hard to find in the market today. Buying an identical model to pair it up with this spare is not possible.

Thanks a lot.

If it were me, I would buy just 1 tyre thats the same as the 3 remaining tyres. Put the new one at the back.

if you are poor (like me), just buy 1 new tyre
if you are rich, change all 5 tires,
if you are super rich, buy a new car

What car do you drive? Is it FWD, AWD or RWD? Are your tyres staggered (ie. BMW M Sport cars)

For normal FWD cars, Your options from most expensive to cheapest, assuming your 80% is indeed only 80% used.

Option 1 ) Buy 2 tyres and fit them on the front
Option 2 ) Buy 1 new tyre and fit them on the back

And if you are really cheap, just use the spare tyre on the back. Buy a cheap second hand tyre for the spare. But unless you are a really cheap bastard, quite likely 1 and 2 are ok.

No, you buy ONLY one new tyre of similar size say 175/70R13 but brands (or thread patterns) may be different, it's ok.

You pair up the newly bought tyre with the spare unused tyre (different brands doesn't matter, but must be same size)

Now this pair of unused threads (new or old) tyres, put in rear or front ?

I recommend to put in the rear axle for preventing hydro planing during heavy rain at high speed cornering.

The other 2 units 80 % used tyres be installed at the front axle, with the 3rd unit of 80% used tyre keep as spare unit in car boot .

The above arrangement will used up the spare tyre within 10 year life span.

Note:I'd a 12 year old unused tyre couldn't be reused cos it was 'dented' and slightly out of shape in the car boot.

Ideal solution if you have budget: buy 1 pair new with the same size and model as the existing 3 tires and put them at the rear. Out of the 3 existing ones, pick the worse to be used as spare. So in this way you'd have 2 of the existing 80% tires at the front, 2 new ones at the back also with exact same model, and 1 again same tire just a bit lesser condition as the spare.

Most economical solution: just buy 1 exact same size and model as the existing 3, pair it with the best out of the existing 3 and put them at the rear, that's it. It can still be used with the others since the others are still pretty thick at 80% condition so it should not impact/feel much different. If I were you, this is the option that I will do.

Do not use different models even though the same size in the same axle/in a pair as suggested by another post above, that is not correct! Even though you can still drive like that but the behavior in terms of grip and traction will be too different with your existing tires, so the handling & steering of your car will be affected.
