Hi ,

I have my knee pain more than 2 years. The sharp pain only attack when Im squat , bending in certain angle. The assessment by the orthopedic specialist is "Cartilage injury ". suggest to physio to strengthening the knee. or surgery. So I found platelet rich plasma (PRP) or stem cell injection treatment, which is quite common in US . but seems limited orthopedic who have prp or stemcell injection in Malaysia.

i was wondering whether anyone has experience for platelet rich plasma (PRP) or Stem cell injection treatment for join problem ? any to recommendation ? . Many aesthetic clinic do have prp injection even for join . but i'm more to orthopedic for the treatment. Please share if you have info about this. Thanks

It's quite difficult to provide general advice as the type of injury differs with age and what caused it and how long you have done physio. Generally physio is really recommended to strengthen and can give good results if done properly with good follow up. Prp has some evidence based on studies but those aren't big studies which gives good confidence in including them in recommendations. And if done incorrectly prp might cause more harm than good. Stem cell lagilah kurang evidence. I suggest you follow up with physio for 1-2 years and with the same specialist so he/she can know your progress over time

I had Achilles adinopathy but didn't get it treated until after 6 months (thought it would recover by itself). First went for physio for 2 months, got better but still got lingering pain. Went for PRP injection but until now lingering pain still there after more than 2 months after injection.

Doctor said might have to go for another PRP injection if the pain persist
