Need helps on:
1. Any recommendation for topic related to my interest.
2. Any potential supervisor that you guys can share?
3. List of potential universities to pursue my study
4. Any potential/related scholarship that I can apply for?

Im still single(need to know how much allowance for cost of living) and my preferred uni that I’ve list down;

1. London School of Economics and Political Science
2. Manchester Uni
3. Durham Uni

I cannot answer question 1-3 as I am not from accounting background. For question 4, you can look up for SLAB/SLAI scholarship. I think it will be easier for you to get it since you are already lecturer from public uni.

City University in London is very good for financial studies, especially as they are very closely linked to the City of London. Try and have a look there.

Not sure if the Chevening Scholarship stretches to a Phd but have a look at that if you are aiming for the UK. You can also look at the Fullbright scholarship if you would like to try for the Ivy League universities or its ilk in the USA.

I thought lecturers in a public university can be fully sponsored to do their PhD overseas?

Just use your poll result as thesis - copy & paste since you have less than a grain of salt as brain to decide on your own

I can't advise on Q1 - 3, but there are a few scholarship in Malaysia and UK that you can apply for. Chevening and Fullbright and Khazanah Scholarship to name a few. Not sure about bank negara, but its worth looking into.

Personally, I'm sponsored by EPSRC, but that is for Engineering.

Living cost wise, you are looking at around £1400 to live comfortably. about £800 for rent, bills and utilities, another £600 for living expenses, travel, and social activities

1. LSE
2. London School of Economics and Political Science
3. Manchester Uni
4. Durham Uni
5. Oxford Saaid Business School
6. Lancaster Uni
7. Uni of Kent

LSE is in fact london school of economics.

I would say strike off Kent and Durham.

City University is not that great, Cass Business School is great (it's technically under City but there's a difference). For instance, acturial, a&f is under cass, economics is under city.

Why is Warwick, Imperial, UCL and Cambridge missing from the list?

If you gonna spent that much money on a PhD, it better be from a top uni.

Some universities allow you to look for supervisor from other top uni (I can't remember which one from the top of my head).
*i think it's UCL LSE and Imperial for certain subjects

You could get an idea of what university to aim for by looking at khazanah's sponsor list of university.

Also, look for rank journals (eg Journal of Accounting Research, Financial Economics, Finance, Quantitative Finance etc) and see which uni has the most research output. You'll get an idea of how good the supervisor from your list of uni is as these are top journals (not sure bout the accounting one as I myself is a finance student (not phd tho :<).

Best of luck rclxms.gif
