Yes , For FIS ( Finance Company ) they have regulated the compulsory of background checking but in MNC it is first time requires that. If they confirm do offer job then they can do the screening after I joined but before gotten any offer it seems not right. haha!
I believe that companies did discreetly do a background check before the PDPA was enforced. Now that the Act is already enforced, MNCs are obligated to inform you I guess. Smaller companies might still sneakily do it behind your back. BTW if you are going to give consent may I suggest privatising your social media postings if you have not done so.
