Interesting. There is a big gap between 49sk8000 and 55sk8000. Why so ?

LG has been commented as giving false 4k (rgbw) TV, so is this true 4k ?
*
If not mistaken...49" is only supporting 60hz...while 55' above supports 120hz. Hence 55" above is best for gaming and connecting to PC.

I would choose to belive it is a true 4K as this is one of their slightly higher range of Super UHD instead of the normal UHD. sweat.gif

3. If you want to install all those free apps to watch free Asian, Korean, China, HK, TW drams etc.
4. You don't really need PC with built in Android or other OS to watch Netflix. Iflix, Android got. Other OS i dunno, which is why i recommend Android. Unless your PC has some other purpose. I have retired my HTPC after bought my Android TV.
6. Yes, your new TV should be able to connect via optical. Please be reminded you will only get Dolby Digital and/or DTS at most this way. No DD plus, No DD Atmos.

RM3499 for 55" Samsung NU8000, that seems like a good buy.

I wish 55" LG SK8000 can drop to more or less the same price range, as I prefer a IPS panel. wink.gif

I have an impulsive move to try Haier TV. Is it reliable?
I had tried Toshiba & Philips and their reliability are so so. Now looking at this model --> Haier LE50U6600U. Anyone use and how is it?

Been using this for the past 2 months. Bought it for RM1.4K

Pros:
1) Price! This is the cheapest 4K Smart TV I could find
2) The TV comes with magic remote, which is a revelation
3) It is a proper Android TV, so can install play store (most other budget smart TVs runs proprietary OS or the Web OS)
4) Decent picture and audio quality
5) Haier provides 2 years on-site warranty, and their customer service is always very responsive

Cons:
1) TV frame comes only in gold color, it may not suit everyone
2) Picture quality lacks contrast. Sony TV's picture quality is way better. But you can tweak in the settings
3) It does not detect 5GHz WiFi (not sure about other smart TVs)
4) Runs on outdated Android 4.4.4. So most of the apps are not refined, especially YouTube, IFlix and Netflix. It still works but the UI is terribly outdated. I have bought a TV box and I normally watch YouTube in this one. Netflix is fine though.
5) Accessing media files on external HDD is very slow compared to my old Sony TV
6) Cannot set auto Aspect ratio for movies on my HDD. The default aspect ratio is 16:9 but some movies look stretched. So everytime I play a movie I have to manually set the aspect ratio to auto

Overall though, I'm pretty satisfied with the purchase. But if you can stretch your budget, I would advise to buy smart TV with latest OS. At least Android 7.0.

Hi guys, I need 2 recommendations.

The first is a 65 inch tv under rm6k. For living room, mainly Netflix & sometimes football on Astro. Was looking at the Sony X8500F 65”, is it the best option for me?

The second is a 49/55 inch tv under rm3k for my bedroom. Mainly Netflix & PS4.

Im using NU8000... bought for 3.8k..
Personally you need to play with the calibration till suit your eyes. Personally i hate dynamic mode, too bright

-Picture mode i set to NATURAL
-Automotion turned off
-Eco solution , ambient mode turned on to adjust backlight based on surround brightness automatically
-Sound settings just default, optimize & amplify..
-Those dolby digital will automatically detected once you play netflix app
-Youtube app in tv, you can see 4k videos 2160 need to choose manually.
-Plenty of apps , need subscription.. so hate it
-TIZEN 5.0 Os so no chance to sideload or download any apps from internal browser.
-You can download smart things app in your mobile to control your tv as well.
-Able to Bluetooth and use headset to listen audio while playing on the tv simultaneously or just headset.
-I tried 2 headsets with same model and name so not working, heard just 1 bluetooth device..
-Able to connect your keyboard and mouse wirelessly, mouse only operates in browser.
-Your can use remote voice command for search.
-You cast youtube from mobile to tv with pairing.
-Viewing astro compressed contains you would not be able the optimum, test with netflix 4k video, hdr video.
-Wifi connection able to detect 5g and 2.4g.
-Note 4 mirroring to tv kept disconnected, was irritating probably my spec compatibility issue no idea.
-MHL cable never detected for my phone.
-Now.im using wired lan connection.

RU8000 already in market with rm4849

I am using 55x8500f. It is very good. I always prefer sony tv, especially those higher range ones.

However, If u can wait, Sony X8500G (in fact, all 2019 models r) is coming in approx 2 mths. X8500F does NOT come with dolby vision but X8500G does support dolby vision. So u may consider between 65X8500F vs 55X8500G (i assume that new model will be slightly more expensive hence the 55") or even 65X8500G. biggrin.gif

Probably you can set the soap opera affect for fast action movies. I personally hate that motion so i always turned off for movies.
But i tested for live sports especially football.. looks good no judder. Natural become natural..

For CGI looks unnatural.

Seems smart tv need to manually adjust them to get the best viewing for our eyes..it will take times for me to know each setting that suit me..

Btw, the remote control given also hard to use for newbie like me..xD

Will be buying a new TV as my current 10-year old Panasonic Plasma may be nearing its shelf life soon, currently still without any issues since new. TV specifications have change a lot and I have lost track to the current 4K UHD and OLED. What's the difference and the best 55" unit at the moment
