Hi guys! I'm planing to get myself a digital camera next month. My budget is about RM1000 to RM1600. I can fork out a little more money but it is strictly limited to RM2000.

I feel like getting a F31fd since I heard many pleasant comments about it. However, I also heard that it's kinda difficult to spot for a F31fd in shops nowadays. Moreover, it has purple fringing problem. So, I'm also considering F40fd. I'm not sure how much difference F40fd is, in terms of performance and price. Do advice.

Or should I get the well renowned Canon 850IS? Any other suggestions are welcomed.

Thanks! laugh.gif

Added info: I dislike blurred images and I think I need cameras that can handle higher ISO without too much noise.

Limited to RM2000 ? You can get a semi-pro camera already with that. biggrin.gif

I'm looking for cameras where I can easily bring it around. Hehe.. My preferred budget is RM1000-1600.

I saw samurai1337's thread and he spotted for T20. Lol.. Anyone can tell how it performs? Lol..

I have tested T20 in a few Sony Centres and find that it is quite good considering it is priced at only RM1299. The BIONZ engine really is much an improvement and what's more is T20 is just so compact. biggrin.gif

My friend has a T10, but it cannot satisfy me. Haha.. I think T20 is much better isn't it?

How about:
T100 and
Lumix fx series?

I think I'm throwing out T100 and T20 as my choice. It's having some difficulty to get good pics in poor lighting conditions. I take lots of indoor pictures too, and I think I'll be facing problem if I take T100 or T20. But I do love T series's design.

I think it's most practical to get F31fd since it's great in taking indoor pictures.

Which is better; 850IS or F40fd?

If I can't get the F31fd in time, I might have to resort to either one of these. Lol..

the 850is is a good pns camera, aside from the noise level, i dont see other problems with it. It's just easy to use and great in practicality. I have yet to test out the f31fd. But yes, the reviews are good, specially at their noise handling and natural skin tones.

My choice? the f31fd smile.gif go get it!

Ah, it's getting closer and closer to the mid of June. Counting down to the day where I'll buy the camera. tongue.gif

Now I'm torn between the few choices. Don't know which to go for. Right now, I feel 850IS is quite a good choice as it is small.

Fujifilm F31fd:
Pro-Clear pictures at high ISO. Great battery life.
Con- Expensive XD card and limited capacity.

Canon 850IS:
Pro-Great design and compact. Produces more vibrant picture. SD cards are easily available.
Con-Noisy. Visible noise and blurring when cropped.

Canon S3IS:
Pro-Great camera at great price. Acceptable noise level at lower ISO.
Con-Bulky. It looks weird to bring a large camera walking around everyday.

F40 d is a great camera,
it's great in taking indoor pictures as well, and have access to 10 mega pixell.
The face capture mode is an absolutely brilliant idea for taking great human face
picture with Cam AI detection

I've managed to grab the camera at the price of 900,
with accesories + storage cards + tripods,
such a low price ( for a camera that was release at January 2007),
for such a great quality product.

It's just amazing to see how capable it is

How's the battery life? I've read reviews about Fujiflim cameras having very low battery life compared to Canon cameras. Only averaging about 180shots comparing to Canon's 280 shots. Performance wise, same as Fuji 30fd?

I bought it (f40fd) at rm950
wtf... grrr.... u got it at rm900
with 2k memory,
small tripods
and the leather condom to cover it - which is not nice 1

no IS this camera?
i tried shaking the camera while taking the picture.. - the quality very good
i tried the same thing with sony t100 and IXUS 950 which has IS.. both lose to fuji
sony t100 the worse 1.. the IS like no function
besides, this camera processor really good - very fast capture capability
gread bright LCD
and i compared the pictures taken from t100 ixus950 and fuji on that nite at the shop
i think fuji win 2

That's probably because of fuij's superCCD sensor. Wiki it out.

Compared to others Fuji had one of the biggest sensors for PS cams. Even bigger than s3!

Had no regret using f40fd. Very good for newbies like me.

Next stop, s9600.
