yes. my Zenfone5 also xda lag
quite smooth. coming from iphone 6+
and Xiaomi Mi Note 2

the 1st one after unbox from seller there is lag
but after 3 updates now it is smooth as ever

hopefully in the future Asus will keep updating
i think (IMHO) Zenfone 5z should be better at this

it is okay to be the only one feeling the lag
maybe it is the phone's fault. u should come and test other forumer's phone
should be different from the demo

and please dont say things like
"will it be lag-lass for another 1-2 years" that sounds childish & immature

yes, this is a direct respond to u Kevin23

It's not us who defensive, when you found something not right we offer helps and suggestion turn out you called us first day using android and sarcasm yada yada
We own the phone and none of us feel the laggy-ness regardless of ZF5 or ZF5Z, if you're intested in getting these phones we would be glad to share but if you're here to bash without constructive discussion u shall expect the return.

After used some days, I found that my Z5...

the battery is abit drain faster than my old redmi note 3(28nm 4000mAh), redmi drain around 3% but zenfone drain around 6% during I sleep 7 hours, maybe zenmotion and other Ai thing draining more on the battery?

Currently the ZenUI is really not as smooth as MiUI I used, it drop abit fps during transitions. But not a big issue, Im in love the ZenUI since I 1st touch on the old gen Z5, now is even better.

The camera is very nice in Video and photo. Only downside is the auto mode on dark object, feel that the camera AI overdo its job and made dark object very noise. Hope they can improve software.

1 thing dont like is the notification, no separator or color between notifications... they make me pensan when there are many notifications. Hope asus can improve on this also.

It's believe to be Oreo the culprit of battery draining issue, google Oreo battery draining u'll get tons of result.
MiUI do not have app drawer and lesser in-dept layers so smoothness is better compare to other but in return u have everything on the home screens.

agree with you the zenui is not as fluid as the miui, hiccup here and there, miui optimization > zenui, and some more ZenUI is quite simplified now as compared to my old z2 laser, good and bad varies...

The camera wise, it's a new sensor, still needs time to learn and optimization works I guess, although it's coming out brighter but not as solid compared to rmn5 in terms of clarity, noise control, sharpness, details especially in dim lit environments, yeah it's true that the end result comes frm zf5 is much brighter but noises are everywhere causing graininess that affect overall quality even just few hundreds ISO kicks in, same scene rmn5 is darker and the ISO is boost up until 9600(huh?), but still the clarity controlled quite well, the overall quality rmn5 >zf5 I can say, and some more the speed of capturing and focus are still very good on the rmn5, looks like samsung camera sensor starting surpasses sony leading situation(or just due to both hp manufacturers optimization capabilities).
The view finder as well smoother on rmn5 in darker environment, but the zf5 fps drops quite obvious making the whole shooting experience not as pleasant(although it's brighter much overall)

fortunately, there is Pro mode found in zf5, to let user fully manual control to rectify all the drawbacks abv unlike rmn5, the control is final, and the manual mode just like the kuku potonged gong gong in the old mighty dynasty qing

In the past, cameras on xiaomi phones were criticized as just like some free gifts that you can't expect much from them, but now the situation has changed, xiaomi already started invest much efforts into it, they even open up a new team to concentrate on bringing much better camera experiences. Asus really needs to take serious account into all kind of optimizations but not just simplify things, or else......

Mind explaining the notification? No seperator means you cannot seperate individual messages?

I like mine with one notification pop up for each message soo does ZenUI do that or not?

Maybe this is just my preference, the between the notifications do not have any line or anything to separate them. imagine if all the notifications are like the wechat notification, do not have blue or green colour, will be pensan to identify them...
