Description

Notepad2 is a light-weight, free and open source Notepad-like text
editor with syntax highlighting for a few commonly used languages.
It's based on the Scintilla source code editing component
(http://www.scintilla.org) and works on NT-based versions of Windows.

Features

- Syntax highlighting: HTML, XML, PHP, ASP (JS, VBS), CSS,
JavaScript, VBScript, C/C++, C#, Resource Script, Makefiles, Java,
Visual Basic, Pascal, Assembly, SQL, Perl, Python, Configuration
Files, Apache Config Files, Batch Files, Diff Files
- Drag & drop text editing inside and outside Notepad2
- Basic regular expression search and replace
- Useful word, line and block editing shortcuts
- Rectangular selection (Alt+Mouse)
- Brace matching, auto indent, long line marker, zoom functions
- Support for Unicode, UTF-8, Unix and Mac text files
- Open shell links
- Mostly adjustable

New in Version 2.0.x

The most important changes in Notepad2 2.0.x compared with version 1.0.12 include support for ini-file storage of the program settings, modeless find and replace dialogs, multiline find and replace operations (using backslash expressions), optional file change notification, and many more.

There's also some regressions, i.e. ANSI code page support has been reduced to the system default, the bookmarks feature has been removed, a few syntax schemes have been dropped, and Notepad2 does no longer run on Windows 9x. If you need any of these features, you'll have to stick to Notepad2 version 1.0.12.

Thought I'd give a tip how to replace your old Notepad with Notepad2

Place your downloaded notepad2.exe in c:\ and run the batch:

CODE
pushd %windir%\system32\dllcache
del notepad.exe
cd \
XCopy /Y notepad2.exe %windir%\System32\dllcache\notepad.exe
xCopy /Y notepad2.exe %windir%\System32\notepad.exe
XCopy /Y notepad2.exe %windir%\notepad.exe

It has a tons of features that are mostly useful for programmers, but other people will benefit from it too. The interface looks just as simple as the windows Notepad.

Your code doesn't work for mine

This 1 is easier, don't have to place ur notepad2 anywhere, just run this batch:

CODE
copy notepad2.exe c:\windows\servicepackfiles\i386\notepad.exe
copy notepad2.exe c:\windows\system32\dllcache\notepad.exe
copy notepad2.exe c:\windows\system32\notepad.exe
copy notepad2.exe c:\windows\notepad.exe
