Producers Say No to Jurassic Park 4

user posted image

Producers Frank Marshall and Kathleen Kennedy just revealed at today's junket for The Curious Case of Benjamin Button that plans have fallen through for a fourth entry in the "Jurassic Park" franchise.

When asked if there was any development on the long-anticipated sequel, Kennedy responded, "No... I don't know. You know, when Crichton passed away, I sorta felt maybe that's it. Maybe that's a sign that we don't mess with it."

Since Joe Johnston's Jurassic Park III in 2001, Universal has been developing a fourth outing in the successful franchise. The studio commissioned William Monahan and John Sayles to pen a script in '04.

Jurassic Park 4 has consistently been in the Top Previews on ComingSoon.net over the years.

Par, Uni won't renew major producer deals
Misher Films, Kennedy/Marshall Co. among those affected

Studio cost-cutting is affecting the producer ranks.

In its ongoing effort to trim overhead, Paramount has declined to renew a number of production deals. Included in the group are Kevin Misher and his Misher Films banner, Stacey Sher and Michael Shamberg and their Double Feature Films and Scott Aversano.

And Universal isn't renewing its production deal with the producing team of Kathleen Kennedy and Frank Marshall. The Kennedy/Marshall Co. has had a long association with the studio, where it has been involved in such movies as "Seabiscuit" and the Bourne trilogy.

But while Kennedy/Marshall has been based at Universal, which began its own round of about 70 layoffs last week, the company also has been active at other studios around town and is represented by "The Curious Case of Benjamin Button," a Paramount/Warner Bros. co-production. At Universal, the two producers will continue their involvement in planned sequels "Jurassic Park IV" and the untitled fourth Bourne film.

Paramount has been navigating a highly transitional year. January was filled with exec movements, and the summer saw the company merge several Paramount Vantage departments into the studio proper. Layoffs followed even as the studio enjoyed a successful summer boxoffice.

On Thursday, Paramount laid off another large group of employees as part of corporate parent Viacom's cutting of 7% of its work force. Then Vantage was downsized further with the departure of label president Nick Meyer on Thursday.

The studio will have continuing relationships with all three departing production entities.

Aversano was president of Paramount divisions Nickelodeon Movies and MTV Films before he was handed an outside producer deal. He is prepping the "Untitled Kidrobot Project" for the studio's Nick stamp.

Misher's contract runs through the end of 2009, and he has several high-profile projects incubating, including a "Dune" revamp, "The Last Duel" with Martin Scorsese directing and "Case 39," set for release in April.

Sher and Shamberg delivered "World Trade Center" to the studio and have "Bong Hits 4 Jesus" and "The Devil in the White City" in development there.

Jurassic Park 4 Shooting at Universal?

http://www.movieweb.com/news/jurassic-park...ng-at-universal

user posted image

QUOTE
A mysterious scooper has sent photos of what appears to be the "Daily Shooting Schedule" production board on the Universal Studios lot suggesting that Jurassic Park IV is set up for production on stages "7, 10, 12, 14".

The scooper sent this message along with the photo:

"Taken on the Universal backlot earlier today. Seems it's all over their backlot. My guess would be pre-lim shoots testing either actors, CGI or animatronics."

When we asked Universal Pictures about the photo, they denied production on Jurassic Park IV and said that they "have no idea why that is on there."

Is the studio really trying to keep this under wraps? Or is this a simple joke by a staffer at Universal? Only time will tell.

Are they already filming JP4 without a single soul outside the film production knowing it ? hmm.gif Or a joke/mistake ?

Universal has confirmed that JURASSIC PARK 4 is not filming on the backlot nor is JURASSIC PARK 4 anywhere near shooting. Last we heard Joe Johnston was attached to direct and he's quite busy at the moment with CAPTAIN AMERICA. No cast is involved and there's no crew. Perhaps just some small pre-production meetings every now and again while a script is developed.

Steven Spielberg Kicking Around Ideas for Jurassic Park 4

user posted image

I’m frankly shocked a new “Jurassic Park” movie hasn’t reared its prehistoric head sooner. After all, it’s been over 10 years since the last installment, Joe Johnston’s “Jurassic Park 3″, which despite poor reviews, still managed to gross over $368 million worldwide from an estimated $100 million production budget. A lot of movie studios would call that a runaway success, but apparently Universal was hoping for more.

Steven Spielberg, the producer and director on the first two “Jurassic Park” movies, hasn’t given up on the franchise yet (or on dinosaurs; he’s got a new dinosaur-heavy show called “Terra Nova” coming to FOX soon), and THR reports that the director is currently “[kicking] around ideas” for a fourth movie with “I am Legend” writer Mark Protosevich.

Nothing is official, no scripts have been written, and currently one is getting paid to do anything, and the idea of a “Jurassic Park 4″ is said to be purely “exploratory”.

The first “Jurassic Park”, based on a novel by the late Michael Crichton about scientists cloning dinosaurs from DNA frozen in amber, was directed by Spielberg and made a whopping $914 million worldwide. Remember, this was back in 1993. In today’s dollars and adjusted for inflation, that’s over a billion. If Spielberg’s “Terra Nova” becomes a hit, though, you can expect a “Jurassic Park 4″ to get fast-tracked.

Dino-Lovers, Rejoice! Spielberg is Still Talking About Jurassic Park 4!

user posted image

We’re rapidly closing in on the 20-year anniversary of Steven Spielberg’s “Jurassic Park”. That makes me feel incredibly old, folks. It really does. I originally thought the induction of the Beastie Boys into the the Rock & Roll Hall of Fame was bad, but I think this might be a little worse. In a recent interview with the boys and girls over at ComingSoon, the legendary director took a very brief moment to discuss what, precisely, is his cinematic plate. And that’s when the franchise popped up once again like a satisfying belch at a crowded sushi bar.

Take a gander at the quote in question:

QUOTE
I haven’t been active in the last year because I’ve been so busy obviously on War Horse, Tintin and now I’m currently shooting Lincoln, but right now, it’s on the schedule to bring out another Jurassic Park.

Sounds like Spielberg is all set to get the next “Jurassic Park” underway. That’s a-okay with me. Here’s hoping he sticks to the aforementioned schedule. And if someone could get off their ass and make a great video game based on the franchise, I’d appreciate that, too.

I really hope that Spielberg will produce another sequel of Jurassic Park 4. And this time, hope that the dinasours will be much detail and realistic. Not like the one in Terra Nova. Really looks plastic and 3D CGI.
They need to create the magic and groundbreaking technique again....

Now I'm excited for JP4 (again)...

Back in my review of "Rise of the Planet of the Apes", I praised the writers for their brilliant job.

Quite possibly the most well written movie in recent years. The work of magnificence. No idea who the director was (Rupert Wyatt) or watched any of his movies. The writers (Rick Jaffa and Amanda Silver), not a clue about them but they just nailed everything they were aiming for. Without a doubt all three will be highly sought after this.

Now, the exact same writing pair has been hired for JP4 ! If only... if only they hired Rupert Hyatt to direct the movie. biggrin.gif I hope it will not be some big time Hollywood director as the movie will end up being just that - a typical Hollywood flick. We need something refreshing for JP4. If they are indeed bringing back the old characters (I really hope they do), there is an even greater pressure to deliver something fresh AND familiar. nod.gif

Jurassic Park 4 back in production

QUOTE
After what seems like an eternity in development hell, Jurassic Park 4 seems to be moving on with new writers on board in the form of Rise of The Planet of The Apes’ Rick Jaffa and Amanda Silver.
The last outing for the dinos was back in 2001 in Jurassic Park III, which was met with a mixed reception from both critics and audiences. Along with the death of Jurassic Park, and sequel The Lost World, writer Michael Crichton, and the arrival and subsequent cancellation of Spielberg’s Terra Nova, it seemed that the days of the dinosaur were well and truly over.

However, this news comes as something encouraging for those who want to see Jurassic Park reborn with the same enthusiasm and thought the original brought with it. Considering how well Rise of the Planet of The Apes turned out, it can only be a good thing to have Silver and Jaffa on board.
The only problem could be similar to the current overload of vampire stories out there in the era of Twilight – how do you make dinosaurs new and interesting in a time when they are being created in CGI left right and centre. With the spectacle gone, a good script is needed to bring Jurassic Park 4 success rather than a rehash of old ideas.

In addition, the original Jurassic Park will be released as a 3D conversion in July 2013.

Wow... should be amazing in 3D, though I've seen JP quite a number of times. I can't even count how many times it has been shown on TV.

One of the best things about re-releasing films in 3D is being able to see the cast being reunited again (on the red carpet primarily).

Who knows... they might attach a very early 'teaser' of JP4! biggrin.gif

My wish list for JP4 is quite long... tongue.gif

Watched this when I was a kid. Few dinosaur movies are able to make these creatures life-like and scary. Not even the recently released Dinosaur Project is able to do that. The young ones can be forgiven if they think this movie was actually made around this time. 20 years after its release, this movie does not look outdated one bit.
i just realized Samuel L Jackson is in it. Wow how he has....grown.

Jurassic Park 4 is back in development, leading once again to murmurs that the script focuses on "weaponized dinosaurs."

Indeed, rumors of a scuttled "genetically altered dinosaur soldier" draft of the fourth Park flick have been circulating for years — and a wonderfully zany batch of JP4 concept art has recently come to our attention. Did we dodge a bullet here? Perhaps. The real question is, "Do you enjoy your bullets stuffed with parmesan and peyote?"

These images come to us from NeoGaf (via Reddit) and detail illustrations allegedly by concept artist Carlos Huante and models by Industrial Light & Magic.

Why the heck would humanoid reptiles appear in a Jurassic Park film? Back in 2007, Ain't It Cool News published a synopsis of a JP4 script draft by John Sayles and Bill Monahan. This script was about a mercenary under John Hammond's employ retrieving the shaving-cream-can-ensconced embryos Dennis Nedry lost on Isla Nublar in the first film:

Oh my... if they really went forth with this idea, it would have been an insult to JP1! blink.gif Makes you wonder if they ever cared about what the fans might have thought. Luckily JP4 is in good hands under RotPotA writers. smile.gif

Universal Pictures has announced a release date for “Jurassic Park 4.” The latest installment will see the latest encounter between man and dinosaur, in 3D, on June 13th, 2014. No director is yet attached, but now that a script has been submitted by writers Rick Jaffa and Amanda Silver, the search will begin.

The third, and most recent, installment in the “Jurassic Park” series was released to mixed-to-positive reviews—and robust box-office numbers—in the summer of 2001, with director Joe Johnson assuming the reins from Steven Spielberg, who directed the first two films. Spielberg has remained with the franchise as a producer.

“Jurassic Park 4” will be the first in the series to be shot in 3D. The groundbreaking special effects for which the “Jurassic Park” series has been known should provide quite the attraction in that format.

Another Jurassic Park?

Frankly, I only REALLY liked the 1st...

It was fresh, new and really nothing like THAT had been done before (remember, this was 1993, and Digital effects were JUST coming in)

Steven Spielberg who is a big fan of Harry Harryhausen, and the concept art of Wilson O'Brien's Creation, was truly inspired, when he made Jurassic Park.

JP2 & 3 was basically bits and pieces of Michael Crichton's books, Jurassic Park/The Lost World which didn't make it to the 1st Jurassic Park movie...

With Michael Crichton gone, I'm NOT sure if anything original would appear in Jurassic Park 4, if it ever makes it to the silver screen...

Just my opinion

The 3d conversion got pretty good reviews - for IMAX and the 3d bluray release.

I'd say its worth it if you have time and cash - and enjoy the additional (not compulsory) added depth in 3d films.

It would have been worth a heck of a lot more if they included some "deleted footage" or "never-before-seen footage" (I'm pretty sure they trimmed these films to fit the run time/pace). I would go watch JP again if they included this. I really have no idea what the whole point about re-releasing in 3D really means if it is just 3D.

It's funny how now Hollywood can make money out of something they had already made in the past. Of course, there is a budget for 3D conversion but it would take a lot more than just good 3D to convince me to go see it again.

What next? "The Lost World" and then "JP3" in 3D? Give us JP4 already.

I'm sure as hell re-watching this again. I remember watching this 20 years ago and people were actually screaming their lungs off. Especially during the part the jeep falls from the tree.
I just hope the 3D won't ruin it. 3D movies are known to be darker and gets blur(er) when the camera pans too fast. If its not done right it will even be a pain to watch.

On another note, its sad that even after 20 years and with all the advancement in technology, newer movies are still showing dinosaurs that are more laughable than terrifying.

just watched it. its quite nice. the 3d effect is nicely done (not some simple film converting like Avatar, the last airbender)

Glad to report that the 3D is very effective here - amazing conversion work on par with anything shot in 3D.

However some notes:

- IMAX at TGV 1u - sit further away from the screen if possible.. as its almost a 10yr old movie shot in 35mm, theres very little detail in the resulting imax blowup size - my only complaint abt the detail level.. other normal 3d theaters may not exhibit this problem?..

As for dark and blurry 3d - this is the fault of projection quality:-
- i found 3D at GSC tropicana and paradigm to be quite dim and blurry.
- GSC 1u is slightly better.
- tgv 1U - the best - during 'the hobbit 3d hfr 48' - very bright and dynamic - even tho hated the HFR 48.

I watched it in IMAX 1 Utama too. Wow the hall is small in this one. I pity the person who dares sitting in the front rows, you won't see shit. I took row H which was just nice. Either take H and one row back. Do not get anything beyond H.

Anyway yes, the image lacks refinement. Probably not that surprising given it's a twenty year old movie. Close-ups look very good and detailed, but open shots are very obviously soft around the edges. Some halo effects too.

Even then. What a classic. Flaws be damned, this will just get better with age. I actually teared up during the journey to the island sequence. John Williams, what a master. Even with the lack of sharpness in the image, this is the best experience I've had at the cinema since... well maybe Tintin.

5/5 and nothing less.

the only thing that i loved about the movie was the (IMAX)sound.

but paying premium just to hear T-Rex roar a couple of times? no thanks.

3D was totally pointless. added absolutely nothing.

Like all 3D movies (for me anyway), the effect wears off fast and half an hour into it you barely feel it anymore. But there's an excellent use of 3D near the end when they are moving through the air vents and the raptor attacks from below...

Have to agree. Some people actually screamed at that part. I knew it was coming (since I've watched it 20 years ago) but even I almost just out of my seat because it was such a close call.

Watched it in IMAX Sunway Pyramid (no subtitles too). After 20 years its still a good watch. Hardly notice any effects on the 3D though because I was too busy enjoying the movie itself. There are still people screaming when the dinosaurs attack, surprisingly its them teenagers, the kids just kept quiet.

The original JP is my favorite movie ever, been lucky enough to see it four times in theater (twice back in 1993 when I was six, once back in 2010 during a special revival screening and a 3D screening during the re-release). Seen it endlessly on VHS, DVD and Blu-ray over the years. Regarding the sequels, neither is nearly as good but they have their moments. The Lost World I actually think is kind of underrated and has a lot of cool parts in it. I like it far better than the third for sure.

I hope a fourth gets made but I want it to be a well-crafted effort, not a rush job. I'm kind of relieved it got postponed because I was worried with a June 2014 release that it'd be rushed and turn out poorly, so with more time they can really make the effort to churn out a great sequel and series finale.

So the 3D wasn't that good, as expected but the movie still stands the test of time. When the film came out, I remember watching it as kid and was glued onto my seat from start to finish. Since then, I can easily say I've seen the movie dozens of times... heck turn on your local TV channel and they'll be playing it on 'special ocassions' e.g. New Year's Day specials. JP definitely is the best dinosaur movie ever made. And yes, the moment when you saw Dr. Alan Grant turn Ellie's head and they were both in an absolute awe, then the unexpected... a lot more dinosaurs with the iconic music blasting in the back. Indeed... ahh... brings back memories. tongue.gif The visuals are just too bloody good for the year it was released, it was ahead of its time.

As for seeing it again after all these years on the big-screen... I don't know... I have a mixed feeling about it. Maybe it's just the thought of paying money for something that I've already seen one too many times, what with the trend to re-release films in 3D. Perhaps I didn't think carefully enough that it is JP and not just any other movie re-released in 3D. If not now, then when else will it play in cinemas? hmm.gif

Well... I might just pop in to TGV IMAX 1U to see it this weekend since "After Earth" is thrown out of my list of movies to see. icon_rolleyes.gif

As many times as I've seen JP at home, it has a very special magic to it when it's seen in a theater environment that no home theater setting can ever re-capture. It was just as awe-inspiring and exciting for me to watch again in theaters as it was back in 1993 when I was six. I had no problem paying to see it again in that sort of setting that really enhances the feeling, IMO.

I also think the 3D conversion looked great. I was unsure how it might look but I think the team did a great job of it. I thought it added an element of immersion and depth to the film and it didn't feel gimmicky. I definitely will see it again in 3D when I can.

Im not sure what u guys saying the 3d is special
Ok it got 3d, can totally see it but after a while it looks the same as watching normal movie . The effects is not much ..and im not a big fan of 3d movie but i was expecting something that can really make my eye see it.. For example toy story 3 where buzz using his light laser, can really see the effects but that is all on ts3 3d. But i think its a good 3d considered it an old movie but wasnt the best.

And i never watch jp before. The story so so, dinasour mehh.. The one at the car looks good but then only small apperance. But what im amazed with this movie is it doesnt look like 90s movie, and dinasour looks good, not fake cartoony looking

'Jurassic World' Will Take Place 22 Years After 'Jurassic Park'

http://www.aceshowbiz.com/news/view/00066224.html

user posted image

QUOTE
Plotline of the new "Jurassic Park" movie is still under wraps, but a tidbit that could give a hint at what to expect from the film is revealed. "Jurassic World" is confirmed to take place 22 years after the original pic directed Steven Spielberg.

Director Colin Trevorrow took to Twitter to dish on, "This is a new sci-fi terror adventure set 22 years after the horrific events of Jurassic Park." The "Safety Not Guaranteed" helmer assured fans that it would not be a reboot of the 1993 classic.

A fourth installment of "Jurassic Park" movie franchise, "Jurassic World" will star Bryce Dallas Howard as a smart corporate scientist, and Ty Simpkins & Nick Robinson as her nephews. Chris Pratt is rumored circling a male lead role of a rugged ex-military man.

The film will be released in U.S. theaters on June 12, 2015.

Finally... but I'm just not sure how it is going to be received. Expect realistic dino animatronics & CGI!

Sadly, I don't think we'll be seeing the old classic characters like Dr Alan Grant, Dr Ian Malcom, Dr Ellie Satler... or John Hammond. sad.gif

Whatever it is, still a million times better than the early draft of JP4's dino with guns on them.

Dino with guns? Don't speak so soon .... tongue.gif

Anyways, there are already parallels with the old movie. Scientist with two kids in tow. One rugged male lead. Don't be surprised if he wears the same cowboy hat as well.

I just hope it won't turn out like a rehash of JP1 eventhough it's not supposed to be a reboot.

better they draft the movie with the possible sequels or trilogy..

JP1..is great..but because they never prepare for JP2 and JP3..the story hugely disconnected..and the last 2 not that great..

so we can expect a well drafted plot and storyline from this new trilogy.

Twenty-two years after the events of Jurassic Park, Isla Nublar now features a fully functioning dinosaur theme park, Jurassic World, as originally envisioned by John Hammond. The park is owned by the Patel Corporation. Owen (portrayed by Chris Pratt), a member of Jurassic World's on-site staff, conducts behavioral research on the Velociraptors. After many years, Jurassic World's attendance rates begin to decline, and a new attraction created to re-spark visitor interest gravely backfires.

Oh... so it's going to be this way... they basically 're-worked' the "theme park" into Jurassic World with all new rides and all (the iconic dinosaurs running in the field) and the walk with the saurapods looks like visitor-controllable vehicles. It seem to have a "futuristic-esque" to everything.

Then I guess something goes wrong. tongue.gif Running and screaming all over again.

Looks amazing. Can't believe it... another JP film!

The brochure was never fully verified as authentic, but after seeing the trailer, "Mosasaurus Feeding Show" totally tallies! smile.gif Also, hint of something flying towards the visitors could be "Pteranodons".

As for the 'hybrid' dinosaur, there was a concept released a few months back:

user posted image

Could be the giant dinosaur chasing after Owen (Chris Pratt).

Owen is the Raptor tamer sweat.gif . He apparently studies the dinosaur behavior and comes to tame the Raptors... hence the 'Raptor crew' in the trailer riding alongside him.

Suddenly raptors becomes less scary now that you're able to tame them. They were the most dangerous in the previous movies. You can outrun the fat T-rex but not the raptors. And now we see them running together with us to attack the hybrid (or they could be running AWAY from the hybrid).

It seems like they are running away from something (or from the hybrid) and they wouldnt bother with Owen since they more care about their life.

Suddenly raptors becomes less scary now that you're able to tame them. They were the most dangerous in the previous movies. You can outrun the fat T-rex but not the raptors. And now we see them running together with us to attack the hybrid (or they could be running AWAY from the hybrid).

their CGI not impressive enough la in the trailer compared to nowadays technology...
unlike the 1st one which make the film so damn popular....

i think the world now is more dangerous now that they made aquatic dinosaurs...even in previous films, because of the pterodactyl, those flying dinosaurs are migrating out of the island after the gates crash down.

i'm sure in jurassic world universe people have already getting used to hunting and killing pterodactyl..

i do not think that is the case. Because JP2 is still directed by Steven Spielberg and it is considered canon since Michael Crichton practically wrote it because of fans demand by the end of JP1.

And then, JP3 and Jurrasic World are both executive produced by Spielberg himself

JP2 and JP3 all still canon.

JP2 continue at the same island iinm, and JP3 on different island where they produce the dino..Isla Sorna

so in timeline wise..this will be JP4. blush.gif

Not sure if friendly raptors are supposed to be a good thing. They used to be the most terrifying thing. Now they can be trained like dogs... So the only scary thing will be that big fat new hybrid dinosaur.

How do you know the size is exaggerated when you've never seen it's actual size? Also, the poster does not in any way show that it's incapable of breaking the glass. It's not like the dinosaur is being shown breaking the glass but couldn't.

I based it on the trailer, I could be wrong but from what I saw in the trailer it's roughly the same size as a T-rex and the picture shown is just way out of proportion imo. But I believe they did it on purpose, you know, to give it a sense of awe smile.gif Forget about the glass wall, I was just making fun of the poster for not making sense smile.gif

Anyway, third poster is up smile.gif

Well, this week it is... after years of waiting, false starts and restarts, it is finally here biggrin.gif

Will catch it on Friday. No RT score yet, but here's hoping it is at least 60-70%. Trailer makes it look really incredible with a lot of homage to the original.

Can't wait to go along for the 'next generation' Jurassic ride...

Went to see late night showing also full until first row also no place to sit.

Mix of the first and second movie , very straight forward , no magical discovery scene, first 7 minit already reach Jurassic world . If I choose between furious 7, avengers 2 and this to watch a second time , I will choose this one, but frankly i dont really eager to see it second time.

Great CGI, great theme park, i feel like i was really at the park throughout the movie! They bring back the good old memories of the park. Indominus rex was cool, velociraptor is much more cooler! Not to forget StarLord and Bryce is damn hot! Im totally satisfied i rate this 4.5/5! T-Rex is daaa kinggg! biggrin.gif

This movie was awesome.

If you're a fan of Jurassic Park, you will definitely, DEFINITELY like Jurassic World.
There are alot of references to Jurassic Park, which are bound to tickle some feels.

I watched this in IMAX3D and will definitely watch it again in 2D digital.
I would recommend try watching Jurassic World in IMAX3D, just to experience it.

The music, the sound.. ohhhh goosebumps.

The storyline and some actors could've been better, but that is not the reason why you would watch this movie anyway rite?

I would rate this 4/5!

Guys, I already watched it just now.

Its worth your ticket for old Jurrasix Park fans. Especially when T-Rex appear.

The theme is family first work next, brotherhood and love.

Watching the final fight between T rex and that new breed dino reminds me of Godzilla vs Muto in Godzilla 2014.

Mu score, 4 out of 5. Lost 1 point coz less suspense moment when the new breed dino showed up.

Jurassic World (2015)

Imagine, 1993, me in a dark cinema, waiting for the first frame of Jurassic Park (1993) to come on. The anticipation.

Don't get me wrong, months before the movie, I had gotten the comics, read newspaper and magazine articles to glean any information I could about the movie.

And then it happened, the movie starts... and... I was... MESMERISED!!

The Writer, director, cast and sepcial effect people DID THEY VERY BEST for the movie, and it shows.

Originally, Steven Spielberg thought he would used animatronics and stop motion for the effects. ILM (Industrial Light and Magic) managed to persuade him otherwise. They claimed they could produced a photorealistic dinosaurs on a computer and did a "scene test". Steven Spielberg was sold and CGI came of age.

The movie box office was off the chart and after this movie, Hollywood became addicted to CGI!

For about half an hour, your do not see a complete dinosaur. Just alot of innuendos.

And when they show a hear of brontosaurus... A sense of wonderment washed over me!!

The cinema was PACKED, and everyone in the cinema was sold that dinosaur could exist in real life in 1993, just like the people in the car, in the movie.!!

After 2 diminishing sequel. how does the third sequel hold up, compared with the original?

It is DARN close.

The first 45 minutes of the movie, I get the same sense of wonderment I got watching Jurassic Park, in 1993!!

The segment itself is VERY similar to the first movie, just much MUCH bigger!!!

The "amusement park" is bigger and much MUCH "better" compared with the first one!!

Everything "right" about the first movie was squeezed into the 45 minutes, and as stated about bigger. Very much so.

I thought that the character Claire (Bryce Dallas Howard) was the young girl from the first movie and she had "inherit" the company InGen, but, alas, no.

I was stoke, that BD Wong is back but...

Irrfan Khan (Life of Pi (2012) fame) plays the Hammond role!!

I actually like Chris Pratt (the character Owen) here, though truth to be told, he will always be the A-Hole colleague in the movie Wanted (2008)!!

I can actually see him in the Indiana Jones role now.

So who is the baddie here?

Same as in the first movie, namely:

» Click to show Spoiler - click again to hide... «

Okay, do I think this is a good movie!

It is a huge movie and it will go on to make AN OBSCENE AMOUNT OF MONEY!

And what I think does not matter, because no matter what I say, you are going to go watch it anyway, right? So, go watch it.

As always.

My Two Sen.

I see a lot of homage to first movie, Claire going "RRuuun", the flare, the feeding of mosasaur like the raptor feeding in JP1. Seems like they really trying to evoke a sense of nostalgia.

The movie is just average to me. First half 50min is boring 4/10, 2nd half where things went rampage 6/10. Overall 5/10. Hiring 5 writers but wrote crap annoying 3 characters - the two brothers and the office guy Hoskin. How I wish these 3 characters get killed off by ME. Better than part III but not better than first two. The music score is dismal as well probably from result of trying to pirate John's music. Definitely not the best movie of 2015, in fact not even in the list... shouldn't be. Rewatch JP1&2 to 'overwrite' this one.

yeah totally agreed with watever06..

the music, the effect, the emotional engagement. see the two brothers face, I gonna puke, the boring face rendered me at the cinema with the same emotional state.

the director is a new guy , the effect has not grow (could be I watching in 2D ?) chris pratt acting .. erm, I guess same like the galaxy movie. The actress .. soso..

I cant really speak up anything actually wow me. the classic hiding at the bottom of car from dinosaur.

Man please fix up the new indosaur . It look like a thinner t - rex with longer body. Could you please design way way fierce and scarier.

The ending plot seem like copying gozilla vs t-rex . There are not much jump scare compared to JP 1, 2, 3.

(I think maybe the cinema.. it crowded with people full seat) I personally did not enjoy the movie

Gonna watch in 3D ..

Its hard to say but do you like dinosaur? biggrin.gif

Actually this movie is somewhat try to bring back the good old memories of the 22 years old movie, Jurassic Park. Almost every aspect of the movie is significant to the first one. So you'll appreciate it much more if you grown up watching the movie like me. Cant believe its already been like 22 years. Good old memories. thumbup.gif

This is the type of movie either you love it or hate it. To me I LOVE IT! wub.gif

Watched it... definitely better than "The Lost World" and "Jurassic Park III" by miles.

No spoilers...

Roping in a great director and good writers definitely paid off, albeit not perfectly executed. The last I saw on RT was '73%' which meant something is definitely right, but not all the way.

The one thing that I absolutely loved was that they tried to rekindle the classic moments from the first film; the rides & the theme park - - this time with actual visitors.

If a visionary in the early 90s were to build Jurassic Park, it could look something like Jurassic World. In the times we live in today, the technology is there to build something like this although some things are still a bit too far fetched (the gyrosphere for example).

Also worth noting are the number of 'references' and trivia that originates from the first film ; another respectful move by the film-makers. To name a few ; the original Jurassic Park logo finally appears (at one point I thought we were NEVER going to see it), the eye-goggles, the jeep, and... the place where they all escaped at the end of Jurassic Park tongue.gif Notice the banner that they picked up *When dinosaurs ruled the earth* Had a bit of goosebumps there biggrin.gif

Now to the meaty stuff, literally. The dinosaurs are IN! Beautifully crafted and thanks to modern CGI, it didn't have that "too fake" feeling. Thinking back, how on Earth did they manage to have the CGI quality in Jurassic Park (1993) is beyond me.

Right after the 'second half' of the movie, when you-know-what-started... things went downhill a bit. The ending definitely was a saving grace and very, very unique. thumbup.gif

Seeing T-Rex, the mighty one rclxm9.gif Wow, just wow. Loved how they saved big ol' T-Rex and showed and used it at a certain point in the movie.

There are some production details that were quite significant but was almost in the background. For example, the statue of John Hammond was never really shown up-close. A bit of shame considering how well they made it look and paid homage to the man himself.

Dr. Henry Wu is back tongue.gif I thought he was going to play *just a scientist* working in the lab as we saw in JP1, but surprise surprise... his role seem "extended" which I thought was a little bit too stretched out. Should have just kept him in the lab and fans of the original JP1 would have appreciated how his character remained the same.

Acting chops were fine, there was running and screaming and then more dinosaurs; a really worthy adventure!

The wait is finally over and it was worth it. It could have been so much more better, but still a good watch. The whole military aspect of Jurassic World was a little mixed for me, felt a bit out of place and it's as if they tried to think of "what would modern day men do to dinosaurs - weaponize them".

I do hope they make more, and why not.

8/10

really impress me. I was initially pulled off by the idea of an hybrid dinosaour. Seriously? Will they make the dinosaour talk?

but they redeem themselves showing they still believe in the true spirit of the original jurrassic park movie.

star lord really make this movie shine, and the usual kids that are always force into jurrassic park movie.

But what i really love is the theme park, they really make it REAL, with an actual themepark feeling. Unlike the first where it was just a trial ride and never fully fledge out as a park

Watched it in IMAX 3D in Sunway Pyramid on Saturday and they do have it.

As for the movie, I really enjoyed it and had a good time from the beginning. The raptors being trained were made believable, they can take orders from someone they trust but are still smart enough to bite back if they want to. I was surprised how graphic the death scenes were this time even though there weren't much blood. Definitely the most graphic out of the three and your baby is probably gonna have nightmares watching them.

There were some references to the first movie here and there (the shirt, jeep, night vision goggles, how to kids were getting attacked in front of a glass is similar to the one from the first movie, the flare used to attract the dinosaur, etc) and I also liked the climax which I though was unexpected where they invited a special 'guest' from the first movie to join them.
The 3D is ok but you won't miss much without it.

I've waited too long for another good dinosaur movie to give me a good time and I'm gonna be generous and give this a 10/10. Nowadays its all about superhero movies so its good to see reptiles taking the spot light this time.

Haha... probably not.

I just had this crazy idea that either Dr. Alan Grant (Sam Neil) or Dr. Ian Malcom (Jeff Goldblum) would make a cameo, post credits. The movie ends and then there is a bar, the TV showing the news of the incident, camera zooms out and that iconic shirt+safari hat sitting on a stool watching it. Camera then pans up on him and it's Dr. Alan Grant... "They never learn do they *sips drink*" <blank screen> credits continue to roll. biggrin.gif (or swap Dr. Alan with Dr. Ian).

Yes, absolutely. I was initially not really in favor of a hybrid dinosaur, felt like everything was ruined at that point. It is like an 'insult' to what made the JP movies what they were - - actual dinosaurs from fossil records.

But... they managed to capture the spirit of the original (JP1 in particular) as you said and that's what made Jurassic World worth watching. It was very respectful to the originals films.

Even with the hybird dinosaur + raptor training, they managed to keep it 'grounded in reality'. Totally believable.

Hey who knows... if there are Raptors around today, they could just be trainable. laugh.gif (and why not... parrots can be trained and birds do share the same 'evolutionary' lineage as dinosaurs).

As for the park, indeed we never got to see a working park with visitors. Jurassic World delivered that, and it's a first for the JP movies. The film makers/screenwriters must have had one of their main priority to have a functioning park (at last).

Might catch this again next weekend, just for fun.

I watched Jurassic World with my parents, and both say "The old one's better." They're movie buffs when they were younger and totally remember everything from 1993. I recommend taking your parents(who are into movies) and go have a good time with them! icon_rolleyes.gif

Personally, I give it a 7/10. The storyline and characters are a bit shallow, but the details and dinosaurs make up for it. I totally LOVE the theme park in it. If you've watched Jurassic World, immerse yourself even more by going to:

I don't think its possible for this one to be better than the first one especially if you're one of those who watched the first one in the cinema when it was released back then. It might be possible for the story to be better but overall the first one was just mind blowing when you see dinosaurs that look so real for the first time. It was a jaw dropping experience. Kinda like watching Transformers appear for the first time on the big screen. After that everything has been pretty much seen and done.

Agree man, the hybrid fit in well with theme of the movie.

If they went ahead without the story of the hybrid, ppl will complain that they just remake the 1993 with a modern twist without anything new.

In the end, they show the fossil dino rock the show.

Forget Jurassic Park, even The Lost World blows this one out of the water.

TLW still had Spielberg's brillaint touch, especially when it comes to action setup and execution. There is proper effective suspence building before hell breaks loose. Don't expect much of that in Jurassic World. It's pure CG on CG dino warfare, and it's alright, comparable with the action you see in JPIII, but has nothing against TLW. Watching JW really makes you miss the animatronics. Not to mention Williams' kickass score for TLW.

The action in JP4 has a decidedly very contemporary Marvel feel, especially the finale battle where it's basically the same stuff we've seen in countless movies over the past few summers. It's Iron Man vs Hulk, Thor vs Iron Man, Superman vs Zod (2013), but with the heroes/villains replaced by dinosaurs. You have the exact same mechanics - buildings are destroyed, explosions galore, certain heroes/dinosaurs teaming up against the baddie, etc. Compare that to the skill required to pull of the action sequences in TLW and it becomes clear that, judged as an action movie about dinosaurs, TLW wipes the floor with this.

Williams' score from the first is used quite a bit in the beginning, but unlike the actual journey to the island in the first movie where you felt a palpable sense of awe, here the music evokes the sense of wonderment without the images replicating anything near the sort. You have his glorious music underscoring the kids walking into... their hotel room. Lol. The images don't deserve his score.

JP1 > JW > TLW > JP3

On RT's forums, this is pretty much the consensus among the audience, and this is what I agree to as well.

Wonder whether to catch it on D-Box this coming weekend, the dino's feet stomping should be worth it biggrin.gif

and basically that also mention in the interview with chris pratt actually..hahaha...

Not quite a good movie per say as many plot threads just irritate the hell out of me. On the other hand, if you switch off your brain, there are cheesy fun to be had especially to younger viewers. It could have been a lot worse and under no circumstances would even compare this to the original JP. There are just byproducts of different time and the original helmed by the one and only SPIELBERG, while this one by an indie director making his first big studio effort. Just two different class of film direction altogether.
At bare minimum it's a more enjoyable movie than Godzilla as far as let them fight moment. Although the movie is at fault for using cliche story beats and inconsequential build ups, it does make an attempt to deliver bang for your bucks whereas the other box office champ just rehashing a manufactured formula. It's one of those movies I'll gladly buy on Blu-ray to keep my annoying brat occupied so I can have a peace of mind.

WTF, when the thermal sensor fail to locate the Indominus rex in its cage, 1st thing they do is to go into the cage…..check with GPS locator you fools before u go in.
overall predictable, just a feel good family movie.

Indominus Rex not only can camoflauge its skin, but also its body thermal. I wonder what kind of reptile's dna did they mash-up into I-Rex.

I wouldnt be suprise if they even combined with human's dna considering it can cleverly think how to plan for escape and spit out the tracking device.

Just watched it. Yes, it can never replaced the original but was one hell of a ride. I came back from universal studios couple of years ago, and I totally get the theme park ride feel from this movie!! Awesome! 8/10.

It's the world's first movie to make half a billion on its opening weekend. Everyone is pretty stunned because no one saw that coming.
And its gonna be raking in a lot more in the next few weeks because there's not much competition.

In U.S they got competition in the form of Pixar's Inside Out. Overseas... Minions baby! Plu smost people say it is only average... so I guess it may experience a huge drop in numbers next week.

pretty good movie...not a thinking movie like the first one. I remember the themes of man playing God in the first movie were very well highlighted through the dialogue. This movie, not much memorable dialogue etc.

the moments in the beginning when the I-rex first got out were the best for me, the suspense of it sniffing around the truck and hiding in the bushes etc. The kids to be honest were not as whiny as a lot of the reviews suggest. The girl from TLW would be worse imo.

unfortunately one gripe i would have is the CGI dinosaurs still don't match the CGI of the first movie. Even when they decide to use animatronics here (the dying apatosaur), it's of inferior quality to the animatronics used in the first film.

entertaining if predictable movie, but definitely better than 2 and 3 for me. Bonus points of Trex breaking through Spinosaurus skeleton as a giant FU to the 3rd movie

JP1 > JW > TLW > JP3

On RT's forums, this is pretty much the consensus among the audience, and this is what I agree to as well.

Wonder whether to catch it on D-Box this coming weekend, the dino's feet stomping should be worth it  biggrin.gif

in terms of movie enjoyment, i concur with that ranking biggrin.gif

1) they thought it escaped by climbing out of the cage
2) who would've thought it can hide its thermal presence?

I'd say the trailers were a fair representation of the final film. The trailers were dumb, cheesy, had loads of CGI dinos and explosions. Same as the final product.

Actually it was ok. I enjoyed it to an extent but I don't understand all these "its miles better than both sequels" stuff people are spweing out. The craft and skill evident in The Lost World is art compared to the comparitively hum drum action in this one. The 3rd and 4th movies really showed what a master Spielberg was.

Jurassic Park 1993 opening weekend : $47,026,828 million
Jurassic World 2015 opening weekend : $208,806,270 million

Jurassic Park 1993 worldwide : $1,029,153,882 billion
Jurassic World 2015 worldwide : ???

will surely hit the 1 billion spot and over take the old Jurassic park looking at how it had a very strong opening weekend sweat.gif

but the real question, can it settle for 1.6 billion ?

avengers age of ultron (1.3 billion) , furious 7 (1.5 billion)

don't forget the biggest movie of the year just a week before christmas, STAR WARS !

will be interesting to see how that does on the opening weekend of all time and where it stands worldwide

Wow, half a billion over the course of a weekend shocking.gif

Definitely knew it was going to gross big time but this quickly is amazing.

I just watched TLW and JP3 again, and I once again can say that JW actually is better than TLW and JP3.

TLW while was quite bloated and overly done. Sure, there were some tremendously good moments (T-Rex rampaging the streets... that's gold), but the movie never really shines throughout. It bares the signature of a Spielberg film, but this had to be one of his worst movies ever. Blame the source material? I'm not sure, it just didn't make the transition to the big screen too well. And the ending sweat.gif

Alrightly then, on to JP3.

JP3 - - it was a good ride, but it was simply a product of 'wanting more' in the least amount of time. Hollywood doing what it does best. The barely there plot and forgettable characters made JP3 the worst of the movies.

JW provided fans of the original JP what some of them always wanted - a working park with dinosaurs. How would that have felt... well, JW delivered in this regard.

It was a silly plot, and a bit of an excuse for another 'it went wrong' story.

But at the end of the day, JW still manages to deliver a thrilling ride worthy of an admission ticket... an absolute blast from start to finish.

I never really had a feeling that JW was going to be better (in any way) than JP1 , but felt it could easily surpass TLW and JP3 and it did.

The director himself admitted he didn't want the movie to be scientifically accurate (JW had the absolute opportunity to do so) but merely a work of fiction for entertainment purposes. It was entertaining, didn't rage me afterwards, didn't 'insult' the original, and in fact paid homage to JP1 in many ways.

Thanks to the reception, there will be more Jurassic World. biggrin.gif Hopefully this time the plot won't be that silly and perhaps do a bit of TLW.

Having read the book, I have to interject here.

I read Michael Crichton's Lost World when it first came out, I have a feeling that he was "harassed" to finished the book!!

Hollywood wanted a sequel to the Big Blockbuster Jurassic Park, and paid him a BIG AMOUNT OF MONEY before he even put pen to paper. Key word here, pronto!!!!

As I said, I have a feeling he was harassed...

He actually took a page off Sir Arthur Conan Doyle The Lost World as a premise and used that it in his the book. And because of the harassment, he consciously or unconsciously made his second book... hard to film.

Which is why about 80% of the book when out the window during the script process

The book was more about conservation rather than a rescue mission (as in the movie). And in the movie, the whole ending was just Steven Spielbery homage to King Kong. Serious, you can see that right!!

In the wise words of Mr. Stringer Bell.

That's like a forty degree day. Ain't nobody got nuttin to say about a forty degree day. Fifty? Bring a smile to your face. Sixty? Shit, niggas are damn near barbecuing that mothafucka. Go down to twenty? Niggas get they bitch on. Get they blood complainin... but forty? Nobody give a FUCK about forty. Nobody remember forty, and ya'll niggas is giving me way too many forty degree days.

Jurassic World is a forty degree day movie. It's hardly going to be remembered two years from now. The trailer over the cliff sequence in TLW is bona fide classic nearly 20 years after it came out.

No high expectation to both Jurassic World and Star Wars, as story line must be "created" to earn money.
My friend watched and commented as remake of Jurassic Park with more type of dinosaurs. 1st people will be impress with hu ha wah....later will be scream and run....

While I always look forward to spinning the bluray of TLW - it'll always be the most uneven entry in the JP series - mixing some great gems:
- interesting mix of actors interacting off each other
- john Williams score goes in new direction (tribalish percussion)
- beautiful cinematography
- trailer attack
- camp attack
- gymnastics
- interracial genealogical mystery (as in ian's daughter)

with the clunkers:
- brining a baby trex into the trailer
- the ending in san diego
- various things other ppl complained about which I don't really notice - hence my short list of clunkers

to this day there is debate (on imdb) as to what actually happened on the ship during it's transit to san diego - this one had me stumped as well - something was cut here?

Disney World charges USD 305, for one person for a 4 days pass...

I think this would be 10 x that at least and with 20K people visiting per day... That should keep the dinosaurs fed and the care takers paid... What do you think?? laugh.gif

I hope you know I am hypothesizing (eg grabbing things out of my ass) and Jurassic World does not exist...

There's actually a scene where they wiped dinosaur crap all over them to cover their scents that didn't make it to the final cut.

Me and my wife have the same thought after watching it yesterday.

Poorly done even the 90's version dinosaur looks way more real than this. I blame it on the boring storyline. Wtf with that side story of using dino as weapon? Dafuq? And the acting for everyone except the two main leads are just damn poor. Big budget movie but can't cast someone better?

Actions sequence ain't that engaging either. It just feels lacking, especially the final fight. Peter Jackson King Kong vs Rex fight also better than this. How did they got engage with this director? I think he's clueless.

Gotta be honest here. I'm disappointed.

2.5/5 for me.

but i have to say, the lead actor was good. enjoyed watching his role.

Jurassic Park is special to me. Jurassic Park is full of fantastic moment. The Brachiosaurus, the Jeep on the tree, Kitchen reflection... The first brachiosaurus scene with the theme... its a awe inspiring moment.

Jurassic World has nothing of the above. JW is void of any life apart from seeing breathing human and dino running. I am totally dissapointed with Jurassic World, to say the least. Totally is not even a right word. Jurassic World is nothing but a money milking machine. The shameless product placement and "mind-boggling" plot/story. I enjoy Park 3 more den World.

Kids will love JW and i guess that is the objective of JW. Not to make another movie in the footstep of JP1 but to build a franchise of sequels, toys, theme park etc.

Beware though that some of the scenes in JW might be a bit too violent/scary for little kids. When I watched last weekend, there were some kids who cried/got scared and needed to be taken out of the theater.

Just watch this movies.....the moment those 2 kids saw the Jurassic world and the music come in give me goosebumps.....I was like "oo yea, this is the feeling of the 1st Jurassic Park that I watch before"....

I do think this movies is quite good and I dunno what kind of climax that u all was expecting from?? repeat like Jurassic 1 running in a jeep while being chase by a T-Rex?? or raptor sudden att from bush?

There was still 1 or 2 suspense moment from this Jurassic World that quite good.....

Btw, the god of all dinosaur is actually the 1 tat live in water...momosaurus and not T-Rex....XD

Watch for the fun and thrill yes. Other than that, there are a lot wtf moments which really failed the movie

1. Claire is more concern about the dying brontosaurous than finding her nephews

2. Both kids should have scare shitless rather than laughing themselves at the river bank not being eaten alive.. I swear I was hoping montasourous in the water to suddenly jump out and eat them

3. A pretty lady can outrun a slow sloppy trex while wearing high heels

Lastly I pity the British chick. That is one scary swimming pool.

This movie is media-core.....could easily pass as another sci-fi movie with Dinosaurs in it without the Jurrasic name, It is what you see what you get in the trailers, as expected.

I expected they do more with the name Jurrasic Franchise, but then again, its just a 'Fun' Dinosaur thrilling movie, nothing else.

I personally thought this movie is good. Good for kids that is. Remember when you were 5 and you don't go into these little details ? It's just about dinosaurs, eating kids, hero and heroine who can do just about anything.

I think my dad would have thought the first Jurassic Park was stupid as well. haha!

True but the previous Jurassic movies were very fun and cautionary what-if stories - as to why we shouldn't bring back dinosaurs - much less build a vacation destination around it - which was the spirit of the Michael Crichton's novels. The earlier movies - there was SOME effort at matching ground-breaking CG and effects with some semblance of logic - where even if you were 5 yrs old and didn't care about details - the details are there - it means there was effort put in presenting something exciting and close to clever.

I think Chris Pratt was phoning in his performance - Byce is OK - but their interaction could've been worked upon - its very ho-hum every time I see humans interacting in their scenes - only the character of Lowery at the station was compelling to watch - being the ONLY one who is aware of what's going on and what's to come.

The action scenes and money shots were good but everything else drags it down that i felt dirty after the whole thing ended in IMAX 3d -- i am thinking my money was better spent for the IMAX 3d of 'Jupiter Ascending'.

Like another poster mentioned - this is a fine CG spectacular blockbuster on SyFy channel - but not deserving of the 'Jurassic' moniker in its title.

Agree, but after part 2 and 3, I went in with low expectations and also expect some really corny lines for laughs. There were more than I expected.

And why did the T-Rex not eat/attack Claire? At that part, I was wishing Godzilla to somehow appear already. And that is why I thought it's a movie more for kids, who may not see these details. Well, maybe at least I as a kid wouldn't see it.

This Jurassic World is best jurrasic park franchise ever better than the 3. Things are great when Steven Spielberg stays out of storyline and directing.

They show how the theme park suppose to be like. Really remind me when i in USS and ocean park biggrin.gif Long queue and suddenly closed for emergency. doh.gif

The ending is ... really like godzilla. Like one poster here say, wish godzilla appear biggrin.gif

Afternoon happy.gif

It was ok.

Chris Pratt always made in impact in a movie.

Bryce...so good to look at happy.gif

The kids were annoying.

Suprising storyline but easily predicted.

Nice ending.

Mosasaurus was awesome.

Nothing special about Indominous (hybrid) other than it's abilities.

Spinosaurus (from 'Jurassic Park III'), now that's a bada$$.

Movie is alright. I going "wow" seeing those 2 kids riding in those technology stuffs(those wheel ride)... When I see T-Rex first appearance, I immediately guessed he would play a bigger role and how right I was. Then I saw T-Rex losing the fight, I was like "Go human go help".

Overall not bad movie.

Jurassic World was not bad but still, it doesn't make sense with the woman running in the forest with high heels and runs even faster than a Tyrannosaurus.

"Ooh aah, that's how it always starts. Then later there's running... and screaming!" It's been 20 years since he last played the part in 'The Lost World: Jurassic Park', but legendary character actor Jeff Goldblum has signed on to reprise the role of Dr. Ian Malcolm for the currently filming 'Jurassic World 2'.

According to Slash Film, Goldblum will join 'Jurassic World' returning cast members for the sequel, which is set to hit cinemas next year. producer Frank Marshall told the outlet that he's "excited to have him back. The world has changed a lot since Ian Malcolm went to Jurassic Park and we need his point of view now more than ever. He told us about chaos theory, he was right." The as-yet untitled 'Jurassic World' sequel is set to hit cinemas worldwide from 22 June 2018.

The film takes place several years after the demise of the titular dinosaur theme park, where the animals now roam freely on the island of Isla Nublar. When a volcanic eruption threatens the creatures on the island, Owen Grady, the former dinosaur trainer, must work together with Claire Dearing, the former park manager, and her organisation known as the Dinosaur Protection Group to prevent their extinction.

Chris Pratt and Bryce Dallas Howard reprise their roles as Owen and Claire, and are joined by newcomers Justice Smith, Rafe Spall, James Cromwell and Toby Jones. Jeff Goldblum also returns to his role as Dr. Ian Malcolm from the first two films.

Can't wait to watch! Opening in cinema on 4th June!

Jurassic World: Fallen Kingdom (2018)

Watched this at IMAX 1Utama, and am glad to report, the Audion/Visual system there is still great!

I really want to like this.

The budget is there, the visual is there the sound is there.

First Act and Second Act are entertaining (not without flaws though)
» Click to show Spoiler - click again to hide... «

They got rid of the two kids in the first movie, and the story starts with going back to the island to rescue... wait, did they not do THAT in Jurassic Park 2 already...

Oh, no no wait it is not like Jurassic Park 2. TO begin with this is Jurassic World 2.... really THAT'S the best comeback they have?

The script could have been much better.

I kinda remember the scripts of movies I had watch before, so, for me the movie had a shaky script to begin with

And most of the get out of difficult situation sequences.... had been done before...

Although the third act was really flawed (That is how they choose to end the movie?? Really??) the point they made is actually the gist that Michael Crichton tried to get acrossed in his first novel, should we go down the slippery slope of genetic study?

It is an entertaining movie.

Just seems a little repetitive in some places.

But what do I know, I enjoyed Solo and it is tanking at the box office!! tongue.gif

This makes the whole movie like a survivor horror genre movie.
I would say is kinda fresh, although previous trilogy also bring such vibe with the raptor scene.

It pays a lot of homage to previous trilogy.

I would say for those who enjoyed the previous Jurassic movie & dinosaurus lover will definitely like this film.
As it features more dinosaur such as the sinoceratops, allosaurus, suchomimus..etc.

The lowest rated film I've seen in cinema since 'Batman v Superman', because a certain someone kept asking for updates/pester me when the film would be released. biggrin.gif

The last I checked, it was at 71%.

After watching the film, I think this will end in the early 60s %. Maybe worse.

To sum it up :-

They tried too hard. They tried too much. They tried to make it cool.

...And fell flat.

VERY BOLD direction, but unfortunately, falls short of expectations.

My expectations, with J.A. Bayona at the helm + Jeff Goldblum's return (with Sam Neill hinted to make a cameo) - - were sky high.

The trailers, TV spots, did what they did best and got me excited.

On paper, I think the story would be incredibly unique. But on film... dry.gif

Overall, a passable watch. It is borderline 'OK' to mediocre.

I found the characters annoying as f***. The nerdy guy, Claire's screams (seems so fake this time) and Owen's constantly wanting to be the chilled out guy (even at the most tense of moments). And the kid... what was her purpose again? And to think that she was a

doh.gif

I enjoyed the first JW. But the sequel, falls flat.

Hard to believe they managed to make dinosaurs boring.

And the mansion...

Kinda cringey the whole auction bit played out.

At best, this is a 5/10

Is 'The Lost World' better than 'Fallen Kingdom' ?

YES.

sweat.gif

There was 1 genuinely emotional moment but that's about it.

Dr. Ian Malcom...

"Welcome to Jurassic World"

Right... quite literally now. How to undo now? JW3 - - should take place 20-30 years into the future, think Mad Max but with Dinosaurs. laugh.gif

But OK la... my guest enjoyed it thoroughly. So there's that.

Personally, I didn't really like the Jurassic Park movies. I only watched the first two films, and it was weak. I was waiting for some interesting story, but it didn't come out much. The only thing I liked about the movies was Chris Pratt. There he stood out and played it really convincingly.

Jurassic World Dominion (2022)

I wanted to like this movie.

I really did...

So much so that I plunked down a pretty penny to watched this at Imax (Rm33... cry.gif ).

And the result is...

The movie is meh...

The producer and director literally threw everything at it including the kitchen sink and the final product is just okay...

It looks more like a parade of dinosaurs and not much else...

I am.... disappointed.

Maybe my expectation was too high.

It's even worse than Fallen Kingdom at the moment.

Not even bringing back the original trio could save the film. It was supposed to be the 'epic conclusion' to Jurassic World. dry.gif

But anyway, might just watch it for the silly fun & of course the dinos.

By far the worst of the series.

2 1/2 hours and yet it feels like nothing really happened. We were literally right back at where JW2 was (dinosaurs roaming free).

Honestly, I can't believe Colin Treverrow thought it would be a good idea to continue the 'human clone' plotline from JW2 which to me as I posted my review here was 'really out of place' and almost jumping the shark.

Yes, there's plenty of dinosaurs but the whole movie didn't at all feel like it was about the dinosaurs. It's almost as if they were trying to push the "human greed" agenda forward.

The story is barely there, and they stretched it thin for the entire duration which could mean one thing - - you are likely to get bored. I checked my watch twice.

There were barely any good moments, and when there was, it was too brief.

Even the ending was so meh. Logic? There was barely anything logical. Everything seemed to fall into place as predictable as you could imagine.

The InGen rival Biosyn and their compound were made to feel like a "mini Jurassic Park" what with Dodgson (the red-shirt guy from Jurassic Park) controlling the dinosaurs with tracking and all. It seriously baffles me what they were trying to do plot-wise.

The so-called "Epic Conclusion" was to me the biggest letdown. I ushered the whole ending to the trilogy or maybe, just maybe I thought there could be something at the end that made it worthwhile, but no.

Bringing back the Jurassic Park OG cast was also a letdown. Shockingly. You get to see them, but they're literally being used nothing more than props to move the so-called plot. Ouch.

As for the dinos, yeah there's plenty, but incredibly, it didn't feel like the magic of the previous JP1/JP2 or even JW1 anymore. The magic has been lost. It's just dinosaurs for dinosaurs sake. The CG was also inconsistent.

The raptors in the snowy region looked quite average for some reason, but the scenes in the forest with Claire was utterly amazing with the lighting and all.

Overall, if you have absolutely nothing to do and want to pass the time, it will be an OK movie outing. Otherwise, I suggest just waiting for it to arrive on streaming services. I would say it would make zero difference watching it on IMAX or any larger screen.

At best, and I am being lenient, a 5/10

This is how it should have ended IMO, may sound silly but I'm trying to help here lol:

Definitely not one of the best and most people will probably watch it just to see how the franchise concludes/nostalgia and not because it's good. It was kinda fun to see the original cast back and some callbacks to the previous movies and all but I didn't like the direction where the franchise has headed to. It's like Fast and Furious now where the first movie started small and takes place in one location with a small group of people but now it's like saving the world stuff, travelling from one place to another, coming up with a plan, CIA/undercover stuff and all. Glad it ended before it got more ridiculous.

With all lower than mediocre reviews around, I've decided not to hit the cinema for this lol

JW was the baseline and even that not doing good in my book, but JWFK was the one receiving my judgment and it basically what the OG JP had been all about. I read the spoilers so I guess this is the end for the series?

I agree. Watching the whole franchise, I was there to see how things end. Kinda disappointed to end the Jurassic series this way rather than going out with a bang. Once again, Trex again the winner. JP was fun park videos, JW1 was still good. But Jurassic is becoming ridiculous like how Trex has slowed down his running speed, probably due to aging already. Haha.

Was in Atria mall Mbo to watch it. Less than 12 people.

First Look at Gareth Edward's "Jurassic World Rebirth"

https://variety.com/2024/film/news/jurassic...ley-1236123991/

QUOTE
Five years after the events of Jurassic World Dominion, the planet's ecology has proven largely inhospitable to dinosaurs. Those remaining exist in isolated equatorial environments with climates resembling the one in which they once thrived. The three most colossal creatures within that tropical biosphere hold the key to a drug that will bring miraculous life-saving benefits to humankind. Skilled covert operations expert Zora Bennett is contracted to lead a skilled team on a top-secret mission to secure genetic material from the world's three most massive dinosaurs. When Zora's operation intersects with a civilian family whose boating expedition was capsized by marauding aquatic dinosaurs, they all find themselves stranded on an island where they come face-to-face with a sinister, shocking discovery that's been hidden from the world for decades.
