Producers Say No to Jurassic Park 4

user posted image

Producers Frank Marshall and Kathleen Kennedy just revealed at today's junket for The Curious Case of Benjamin Button that plans have fallen through for a fourth entry in the "Jurassic Park" franchise.

When asked if there was any development on the long-anticipated sequel, Kennedy responded, "No... I don't know. You know, when Crichton passed away, I sorta felt maybe that's it. Maybe that's a sign that we don't mess with it."

Since Joe Johnston's Jurassic Park III in 2001, Universal has been developing a fourth outing in the successful franchise. The studio commissioned William Monahan and John Sayles to pen a script in '04.

Jurassic Park 4 has consistently been in the Top Previews on ComingSoon.net over the years.

Par, Uni won't renew major producer deals
Misher Films, Kennedy/Marshall Co. among those affected

Studio cost-cutting is affecting the producer ranks.

In its ongoing effort to trim overhead, Paramount has declined to renew a number of production deals. Included in the group are Kevin Misher and his Misher Films banner, Stacey Sher and Michael Shamberg and their Double Feature Films and Scott Aversano.

And Universal isn't renewing its production deal with the producing team of Kathleen Kennedy and Frank Marshall. The Kennedy/Marshall Co. has had a long association with the studio, where it has been involved in such movies as "Seabiscuit" and the Bourne trilogy.

But while Kennedy/Marshall has been based at Universal, which began its own round of about 70 layoffs last week, the company also has been active at other studios around town and is represented by "The Curious Case of Benjamin Button," a Paramount/Warner Bros. co-production. At Universal, the two producers will continue their involvement in planned sequels "Jurassic Park IV" and the untitled fourth Bourne film.

Paramount has been navigating a highly transitional year. January was filled with exec movements, and the summer saw the company merge several Paramount Vantage departments into the studio proper. Layoffs followed even as the studio enjoyed a successful summer boxoffice.

On Thursday, Paramount laid off another large group of employees as part of corporate parent Viacom's cutting of 7% of its work force. Then Vantage was downsized further with the departure of label president Nick Meyer on Thursday.

The studio will have continuing relationships with all three departing production entities.

Aversano was president of Paramount divisions Nickelodeon Movies and MTV Films before he was handed an outside producer deal. He is prepping the "Untitled Kidrobot Project" for the studio's Nick stamp.

Misher's contract runs through the end of 2009, and he has several high-profile projects incubating, including a "Dune" revamp, "The Last Duel" with Martin Scorsese directing and "Case 39," set for release in April.

Sher and Shamberg delivered "World Trade Center" to the studio and have "Bong Hits 4 Jesus" and "The Devil in the White City" in development there.

Jurassic Park 4 Shooting at Universal?

http://www.movieweb.com/news/jurassic-park...ng-at-universal

QUOTE
A mysterious scooper has sent photos of what appears to be the "Daily Shooting Schedule" production board on the Universal Studios lot suggesting that Jurassic Park IV is set up for production on stages "7, 10, 12, 14".

The scooper sent this message along with the photo:

"Taken on the Universal backlot earlier today. Seems it's all over their backlot. My guess would be pre-lim shoots testing either actors, CGI or animatronics."

When we asked Universal Pictures about the photo, they denied production on Jurassic Park IV and said that they "have no idea why that is on there."

Is the studio really trying to keep this under wraps? Or is this a simple joke by a staffer at Universal? Only time will tell.

Are they already filming JP4 without a single soul outside the film production knowing it ? hmm.gif Or a joke/mistake ?

Universal has confirmed that JURASSIC PARK 4 is not filming on the backlot nor is JURASSIC PARK 4 anywhere near shooting. Last we heard Joe Johnston was attached to direct and he's quite busy at the moment with CAPTAIN AMERICA. No cast is involved and there's no crew. Perhaps just some small pre-production meetings every now and again while a script is developed.

Steven Spielberg Kicking Around Ideas for Jurassic Park 4

user posted image

I’m frankly shocked a new “Jurassic Park” movie hasn’t reared its prehistoric head sooner. After all, it’s been over 10 years since the last installment, Joe Johnston’s “Jurassic Park 3″, which despite poor reviews, still managed to gross over $368 million worldwide from an estimated $100 million production budget. A lot of movie studios would call that a runaway success, but apparently Universal was hoping for more.

Steven Spielberg, the producer and director on the first two “Jurassic Park” movies, hasn’t given up on the franchise yet (or on dinosaurs; he’s got a new dinosaur-heavy show called “Terra Nova” coming to FOX soon), and THR reports that the director is currently “[kicking] around ideas” for a fourth movie with “I am Legend” writer Mark Protosevich.

Nothing is official, no scripts have been written, and currently one is getting paid to do anything, and the idea of a “Jurassic Park 4″ is said to be purely “exploratory”.

The first “Jurassic Park”, based on a novel by the late Michael Crichton about scientists cloning dinosaurs from DNA frozen in amber, was directed by Spielberg and made a whopping $914 million worldwide. Remember, this was back in 1993. In today’s dollars and adjusted for inflation, that’s over a billion. If Spielberg’s “Terra Nova” becomes a hit, though, you can expect a “Jurassic Park 4″ to get fast-tracked.

Dino-Lovers, Rejoice! Spielberg is Still Talking About Jurassic Park 4!

user posted image

We’re rapidly closing in on the 20-year anniversary of Steven Spielberg’s “Jurassic Park”. That makes me feel incredibly old, folks. It really does. I originally thought the induction of the Beastie Boys into the the Rock & Roll Hall of Fame was bad, but I think this might be a little worse. In a recent interview with the boys and girls over at ComingSoon, the legendary director took a very brief moment to discuss what, precisely, is his cinematic plate. And that’s when the franchise popped up once again like a satisfying belch at a crowded sushi bar.

Take a gander at the quote in question:

I haven’t been active in the last year because I’ve been so busy obviously on War Horse, Tintin and now I’m currently shooting Lincoln, but right now, it’s on the schedule to bring out another Jurassic Park.

Sounds like Spielberg is all set to get the next “Jurassic Park” underway. That’s a-okay with me. Here’s hoping he sticks to the aforementioned schedule. And if someone could get off their ass and make a great video game based on the franchise, I’d appreciate that, too.

I really hope that Spielberg will produce another sequel of Jurassic Park 4. And this time, hope that the dinasours will be much detail and realistic. Not like the one in Terra Nova. Really looks plastic and 3D CGI.
They need to create the magic and groundbreaking technique again....
