My friend bought me an iPhone 8 plus from US. He told the sales officer that he will bring the phone back to Malaysia. The sales officer told him that the phone was unlocked. When I received the phone and try to activate the phone, an error "Sim Card Invalid" pop-up. Like the picture attached. Can I know is there any way I can solve the problem? Attached thumbnail(s)

Most probably it was only unlocked for all US telco only and not worldwide Telco. From what I know, iPhone will be locked to ONE telco only in US. The "unlocked" part is most probably means unlocked for all US telco

QUOTE(Jantz98 @ May 23 2018, 01:23 PM) I seee. Is there a way to unlock the phone? Have you tried asking your local telco? AFAIK US version having different GSM from M'sia. Need to really check on this bro. Whereas if purchase iphone say from Sg or Hong Kong or Indo, no worries as the GSM will be similar/same for the region. Anyway, hope you get it sorted and able to use the phone.

I have currently same problem with unvalid sim for iPhone 6s. It's by an European provider, does anybody has a recommodation where to find service to enable sim for Malaysian providers, e.g. Celcom?
