Anyone would know the material used for building a house frame?
I heard many are using aluminium instead of wooden like old houses? Why old house are using wood instead?

QUOTE(trainmaster @ May 19 2018, 10:26 PM) Anyone would know the material used for building a house frame? Because they don't have the technology to make aluminium frames back then...do you know how aluminium sections are made?I heard many are using aluminium instead of wooden like old houses? Why old house are using wood instead? Anyway in Malaysia these days most construction uses reinforced concrete - cheap, and considering it is only made up of cement, sand and aggregate rocks, all of which are natural occurring materials, it is more sustainable than using steel frames, which has high carbon footprint, and higher technology which leads to the higher costs. |

QUOTE(trainmaster @ May 25 2018, 05:24 PM) 2387581, thanks for sharing. Basically most modern construction used concrete as frame.u mean replace aluminium frame using reinforced concrete? is that possible to use concrete as a frame? And I don't think aluminium frame is widely used as wall framing if we are talking about veneer walls. Aluminium is not being used as structural members because it does not have the structural strength. When we say steel structure we commonly refer to mild steel. When using any steel in building construction, you have an additional consideration of the chemical reaction (corrosion) between different type of steels. |
