Hello, I have a brother who using OnePlus 3 (A3000), he passed away at this Wednesday 16th May. When I got his phone, his phone lock screen was require fingerprint. But that time his body was needed for further inspection as that time doctor couldn't really tell what is the cause of dead, that made me had no access to his finger.

On the next day Thursday 17th May morning, before go to take my brother's body out from hospital, I take a look of my brother's phone and saw his lock screen bottom corner has changed to paddle lock icon. I've contact the OnePlus support but he asked me to do hard factory reset in order to gain access to his phone.

But I don't want to wipe my brother's data on the phone. I keep holding my brother's phone then I found out I can switch to Guest Mode, I thought maybe there is still a away to gain access to the Owner. Until later of the day I check my brother's phone again, the screen has changed to "To start Android, enter your password" screen. I had no idea what problem caused that as the phone was in my pocket all the time.

And to the next day which is today Friday 18th May, my brother's body has been buried. I no longer have access to my brother's finger anymore, his phone stuck on "To start Android, enter your password" screen.

The main reason is I want to access my brother's phone it because: we using Whatsapp for communication by text only, as we don't send voice message to each other. But I do know that he send a lots of voice message to his ex-colleagues. He is my only brother and now just left me and my mother, he no longer in this world anymore and I hope I can at least heard his voice message in his phone.

Currently I can access his Mac Mini early 2009 running Mac OS Snow Leopard, I can access his Gmail as his Google account signed in on the Chrome. But my brother has sign in more than 2 Google account on his phone.

The only thing I can do now is try to figure out my brother's password, but I afraid if I attempt too many times the phone will wipe the data.

I've posted a thread same as this one on OnePlus community but no reply for now, I hope someone here know the way how to unlock the phone.

I've looked up my late brother's Google account recovery info, the recovery number is the same number he used for Whatsapp. But unfortunately the number has been terminated like 5 months ago. I can find another way to get it back.

As for Whatsapp backup, I can say that my late brother couldn't completely finish the backup to Google Drive because his chats were over 5GB. That time the upload speed were too slow and he tried to leave it overnight but the upload always stop in between 10-30%. There is a Whatsapp backup on his Google Drive but I think its the half-finished backup.

For the simcard if its not recycled yet you can go to register as postpaid and choose that number.

For whatsapp, im not sure about the default backup setting, if it was not activated or backup before, then no point install at another phone as wont able to restore without backup.

I've try to register postpaid online but couldn't find that number, I get "The number you have dialed is not in service" when I called that number so I guess that number is still available?

My late brother does backup his Whatsapp (half-finished I think) to his Google Drive

Now just need get his number back to reset his Google account password, then I should be able to restore his Whatsapp chats.

Online probably cannot. you have to go to service centre.

I think you might be able to copy out the whatsapp data from google drive without need to login to whatsapp.
