Macbook is good if ya dun realli intend on gaming... It's good enough for day to day photoshop... doing ur word processing, presentations, surfing the internet, chatting... it's cleaner, sleeker, smoother, and it's efficient.

I like my Macbook a lot.. and it's the old 2.0GHz Core Duo... hrrmmm... what else? Ohhh, if you're making a switch from Windows to Mac OS X, they've got Bootcamp for u to install windows xp/vista, to assist u in the transition...

capability wise, the macbook can do anything other laptops can, and even more... cool stuff which they don't realli mention are like Sudden Motion Centre (shut down HDD, if motion is detected), that cool battery indicator button... and the fact, that it supports digital audio output...

There's so much more.. leave it to the other LYNers to fill it in!

Oh, i'm pretty sure u will buy this... so, welcome to the Mac community!

Windows works well in Mac but not that well. From what I experienced, poor battery life and it runs hot. But dont buy a Mac for Windows. Buy it and enjoy OSX!

most Apple Stores have some kinda of Mac classes. But I wouldn't spend money on that, Mac are made for dummies tongue.gif

All you need is a little time, patience and common sense.... Eventually you will get hold of it. Run into any problems? Ask in LYN tongue.gif

You don't really need any tutorials.

I spent 10 years using Windows-based PC's. Last year I started using Macs for video editing (Final Cut is much more efficiently run than Premiere or Vegas ever will be on a PC) - and it took me barely a day (if that) to learn the basics of using the OS.

It's really not hard at all. I think some people have problems because they expect the Mac OS to be hard - when in fact it's too easy to use. Maybe people just naturally want to be tormented smile.gif (Remember Agent Smith in the Matrix "human beings define their reality through suffering and misery" tongue.gif)

I'm quite sure you heard wrong there. Final Cut is for video editing. Aperture offers some support for image editing and work with RAW files.

Check out this page for some basic pointers. Apple also has a quick guide for anyone switching over to OS X.

Actually, most people have forgoten on what MacOSX can offer to a new user. iLife is really COOL stuff. One can edit photos, make movies, musics and webs as easy as 1, 2, 3 and it is soooo darn easy that you can event make those Windows user say "aaaaaaah" while viewing of what you can do with those things.

No hassle in learning the curve and the result just like pro...!!!! Dont believe me? Try it out. Once you are macuser, better start believing it as you actually can burst out your inner creativity without doing any arithmatic calculation or at all.

Well, my opinion, get the older mid range macbook which cost RM4399 for super drive. 200 bucks more. From machines at midvalley.

Well, it's up to ya. Hehe.

last time macbook is based on non-intel chip ,so cannot make comparison .

now macbook is using intel C2D chipset , so as comparison .

a macbook vs laptop

2.0 C2D vs 2.0 C2D
1G ram vs 1G ram

run graphic , let's say .... ... photoshop , do rendering . will both go with the same speed ?

About the antivirus.

Currently there are no known malicious viruses for Mac. Although there was a case where CanSecWest did PWN to OWN scenario. Basically, the Mac is directed via Safari to a malware app online and the hackers would get complete control of the computer.

http://cansecwest.com/post/2007-04-20-14:5...Cancel_Or_Allow

Anyway, you can download a completely free virus checker app called Clam X AV.

.exe?

Hujan,

Try this. (www.versiontracker.com), type out "Firefox", then download Firefox Ver.2. You should be able to have the .dmg

And yes, you can just delete the .dmg once you've already have whatever apps installed. Be warned though that when you have deleted it off the trash can it will be gone forever.

Let make it simple. I install it long time ago. If you did not install X11 in your Mac, (Application - Utilities - X11) Put in your Mac OS installation DVD (Install other software - X11 - Restart) and then install Gimp and you're done!

Let make it simple. I install it long time ago. If you did not install X11 in  your Mac, (Application - Utilities - X11) Put in your Mac OS installation DVD (Install other software - X11 - Restart) and then install Gimp and you're done!
