I have actually posted the same questions in Serious Kopitiam but later found this section. So sorry if I spammed you.

As per title, I am looking for a psychiatrist or psychologist in Penang. Anyone can share their experience about how is the treatment and what is the cost?

Thank you.

Wah, nobody replied yet ah?

Nowadays you can get mental health treatment in most major public hospitals.

Here's link to Jabatan Psikiatrik & Kesihatan Mental, Hospital Pulau Pinang

Cost varies. It's best you call up the centre that you've chosen and then check the cost with them.

Dr Wee is the full-time Psychiatrist in island hospital. His consultation fee is reasonable. Can call up island hospital to ask.

I would strongly NOT recommend ONG SPECIALIST AND COUNSELLING CENTRE.

This was my personal experience:

Brought my referral medical report from neurology to him and WITHOUT even assessing, the doctor claimed that they blindly passed the case to him, yet prescribed medication (Seroxat) in which adding to his less than 5 minutes consultation the fees totaled up to over RM400. Paid the fee for nothing.

I highly do not recommend Lam Wah Ee Hospital for anyone looking for a doctor. I met Dr. Tan and he was very impatient with me. I had a difficult time articulating myself back then, but I forced myself to speak about it. I wasn't sure if he could speak Chinese or English, and he only spoke Hokkien to me. So, I was scared about how to approach him. I ended up talking to him in English and he was dismissive and insensitive. He prescribed the medication and no one informed me about the side effects, erratic heartbeats, hot flushes, joint pains, etc. Another doctor I met a year later, told me that consumption of that medication can cause a higher suicide rate in 2 -3 months before it actually helps.
