So my friend bought a MacBook Pro from HK like rm 5000. His is buying for his personal use. He already open the MacBook there. Tomorrow he is coming back. Will he get stop by the kastam or ask him throw away the box ?

Just ask your friend pack it in his carry on luggage as if he is using it and pack the box in his check in luggage. If throwing away the box is possible then better
Im sure this way he wont get taxed.

I have friends buying macbook from Ebay US, no issues with our custom. If I remember correctly, computers are tax free.
