(Only if you are not getting the promised speeds)
You can request to downgrade or terminate before the minimum subscription period is out by quoting "Quality of Service" reasons, that is, if you can prove to them that you are not getting the speed range that you are supposed to (more than 70%). To prove to them, just call their helpline over and over and over until they create an "Open" report and send a tech over. Make sure before you end the call that your report is an OPEN report.. if not, nobody is going to entertain it. They will probably get you to do speedometer tests a few times to get a reading, if the speedometer test is more than 70%, they will not create a report for you. You'll need some rather fast talking to convince them that you are not getting more than 70% from the advertised speed, eg quote your ping times maybe, high latency (if related), slow downloads from major servers like microsoft.com/downloads etc.
This means if you are using 4mbps and are getting less than 2.8mbps speeds (around less than 350KBps) via direct download from local servers, you can file a report and ask to terminate/downgrade. Make sure to keep on saying Quality of Service Quality of Service Quality of Service Quality of Service to the TMPoint staff as some of them can be rather dense...
I used to subscribe to the 2mbps line.. and it was a lot slower than 1mbps that I decided to downgrade with the reason above, and it went through
Don't forget that for the termination/downgrade itself you need to walk in to a TMPoint, you cant do it over the phone, and dont forget to get the termination or downgrade slip printed from them as Proof.
Hope this helps you guys who are stuck with expensive high speed packages that are SLOW, and want to get back to normal packages.
P/S : Yes there is a lot of work to do here, and more phone calls to be made to TMnet helpline before it is over, but better than paying RM200+ per month for the next 12 months right?
