eih..weird..how come ur modulation status not showing ADSL2?
*
He manually sets it on G.DMT mode. But as per info,DSLAM is very very close to his house so that ADSL modem could receive very strong sigal though it's on G.DMT mode.
I should say that I like his line. tongue.gif

QUOTE(pokemon @ Mar 21 2009, 07:43 AM)
I thought you should be getting at least 90% of your subscribed speed as ruled by our beloved MCMC,  Communications and Multimedia Act 1998 - Section 27.

It says no less than 90% of the subscribed level for 95% of the time for the purposes of uploading and downloading effective 1 January 2009.  It was no less than 80% prior to year 2009.
*
Yup,it's true.Several days ago,I wrote an email to TM Net,requesting to provide the full speed of which I subscribed as I know many of my friends who are taking 2M and 4M packages could get the full speed. So next day,I received the call from TM Net customer service telling me that the new best effort policy requires TM Net giving at least 90% of subscribed speed and in fact they are trying to give all their high speed plan(2M & 4M) users full speed.
A customer service staff called me again yesterday, just asking me to do some speed tests and submit the results to her. After that, she creates a report and tell me waiting for their process for some days.I hope I could get full speed soon after all. tongue.gif

218.111 range . china link still slow.  Can't visit my supplier page.
*
I'm using 2M combo.Till now I only can get the IP ranges such as 60.50.,60.51,60.54,128.82,128.13,118.100,118.101 etc.All are lousy to connect to websites in China,Hong Kong and Taiwan and using the connection to the rest of the world,I could get a full download speed. However, facing 20%-40% packet loss.So surfing the websites like Facebook is quite lag and slowly loading.

not really, copper line can support up to 8mbps. while the new ADSL2+ can support up to 24mpbs,
*
I have only copper connection too.The cs and front counter person in TM point said the same thing to me.They have lack of knowledge.

I just tried to let the technician put my line on 4M to have a try for some day.If it works well,I will then directly upgrade the package to 4M-currently is 2M combo.

I hope the technician could help me set it up in this evening. tongue.gif

TM told me to upgrade to 4M there is downtime of 3+ days. I did not want to go without internet for 3+ days. Also, I know that the 4M line will have same international issues so it would be pointless. 4M will not help surfing, gaming, etc..
*
If you are using 1Mbps,it will give you a 3+ days of downtime.IF you have already 2Mbps,I think your dslam could be easily set to 4M.

About the international issue, some of 4M users say that they have less problem. So I just try it because now I have paid RM140 per month, upgrade to 4M will only cost another RM20 per month. Not a big deal, but it is possible to bring some change. tongue.gif

i think im still on the 2mbps , last time i can only download at 150kb/sec , nows up to 212kb/sec .

I called TM  ,they say something about already setting up the jumper or the port and a technician would be coming to my house to check on something . Is it normal ?

I hope they do it quick man , my 2mbps is RM188/month , i feel cheated.
*
Well, what you said is just follwing the normal procedures of TM.Actually the technician will only come to check whether the line quality could satisfy with the requirement to meet 4M.Once he comes and confirms the line quality,he will just make some calls to adjust the port speed for you.

I hope the man could visit your house asap.Good luck! smile.gif

i just contacted the apparent technician for my area . He said they are using OLD PORT something 8001 8002 series or something , Cant support 4mbps . Then they say 4mbps my margin would be bad . Trying to persuade me not to upgrade . I'm really piss at their attitude .

Now they are saying they didn't receive any order . They really are a bunch of useless people . They keep changing their stories . Jeeze
*
That's the technician telling me too.You may really need some more luck.

Yup, I think the technician transferred to another set of ports for your line.
But, the port speed, still need to reconfigure before technician come to your house for the testing
*
The technician told me that he had configure it to 4M,but till now I could only see it as 3M in my modem info. rclxub.gif

Really? Did you try to use other DSL modem to sync the line?
*
I opened up my modem in this morning. At first,it displayed at 3Mbps,but after several minutes,it synced up to 4096Kbps.So now my port is really configured at 4M.

As the downstream margin is stable on 16-17db,I think it is capable to 4M.So i went to TM point just now and submitted the application of upgrading.I hope they could adjust my account at 4Mbps asap. rclxms.gif

Just going to modem control panel there.
You could visit it by entering 192.168.1.254,if you're using the modem TM gave you.
The login name is admin, and password is password by default.

I've been using 4Mbps for a long time. Recently , it has been going slow on me. I am guessing that they are silently starting to cap because this month I've downloaded over like 80GB worth of stuff
*
They let us 'behave' ourselves. tongue.gif

Hey,i mentioned that you choose G.lite as your modulation, right?I think you'd better to change it to G.dmt because G.lite only supports up to 1.5mbps for downloading. smile.gif

I don't think they will cap your speed at that low.I suggest you to make a compaint to TM.
