Tm guy just came my house to change my line to 4Mbps, but the call center for these technician is off. Ask him to cap me to 5Mbps nicely but told me I'd get an unstable line at that point. And my current SNR is 24dB. Told me if i did a 2Mbps line, he'd gladly cap me to 3Mbps.
What a downer. The call center thing is stupid. Suppose to be active till 10pm, but he sat there called for 1 hour but no one picked up. Guess their intra-company customer support is as lousy as the frontline service. |

Well, I do realize getting that extra 1Mbps cap would make the SNR value drop, thus, the reason why the technician would claim my line would become unstable.
Can you give me your SNR value at your current cap, and do you remember your SNR value before? When the capping is at 4Mbps. These are all copper lines and have different values, this is for sure. I just want to know how much that value dropped. My current is at 24dB like I said. If I get capped at 4Mbps and the line drops to say 18dB, then getting the extra 1Mbps is risking it IMHO. Still, it all depends on what value I get when mined is capped at higher speeds, ut I just want to know, for comparison's sake. The guy is going to come over tomorrow to redo the line testing. Nice guy he is, made an appointment at 630pm, came here at 620pm. It's 10 minutes, but it's better than other technicians I've encountered. Thanks anyways.
Technicians called and asked for 5Mbps, but the other side said some problem with the DSLAM or something. This is stupid. My uni next door has a 150Mbps line, and I get capped at 4Mbps. SNR 22.5dB What should I do to get the ball rolling for a 5Mbps cap? This post has been edited by kaiserreich: May 23 2009, 01:02 PM |

Is it possible to use 4Mbps account on a normal account?
I'm at my hometown now trying to check whether the 4Mb I upgrade to has been activated or not, but trying that account, I get non 218.111 IP address, I DL 1.75Mbps, UL:.0.35Mbps, kinda awful isn't it? This post has been edited by kaiserreich: Jun 9 2009, 12:47 AM |

I managed to convinced a technician to cap my line at 5120kbps, but he warned that the VCI might drop and cause my line to slow.
Currently, my speedtest gives 3.4mbps down .33mbps up. Seems like it dropped, anyone know what is this VCI thing? |

QUOTE(Acrisius @ Jul 10 2009, 01:36 PM) MX510, What were IPs you usually connected to? Mine too, it's very annoying when the international stuff are just coming in at such stupid speeds.I experienced the connection will being capped during 10am-1am. During this hours i will unable to stream most of the website, like myspace and msn video. The max speed i got is around 200-300Kbps ONLY @@. But on 2am-9am, I easily hit the max speed on all the streaming website. Do you guys having this matter? |

QUOTE(Acrisius @ Jul 20 2009, 01:58 PM) Damn Streamyx, I felt like i being cheated with the throttle speed on certain of international links especially on video.msn.com and sevenload.com Yeap, I'm having the same stupid issue. Torrent Flux doesn't want to go full speed during daytime. Weekends they don't throttle however.I observed my line for a week, and i found out that the throttle kicks in on my connection every 11AM and ends at 12:59AM midnight. I only got full speed for most of the website after the throttle at 1AM until 10.59AM. I don't know why Tmnut being so selfish on their bandwidth. If they throttle on Bittorent, I really okay with that, but not until certain of international link. I think that's too over. Anyway I will post all the print screen for you guys to see. Perhaps i will write an email, for them to clarify about this matter. By the way, under the throttle hours, I only can bypass the throttle speed on my streaming website by tunneling SSH or using proxy. That's really obvious, when you used proxy, and it will be back normal, without proxy, maximum speed just around 300Kbps out of 4Mbps. If possible, i would like to you guys to comment about this matter, Do you guys having this matter? What's the speed you got under throttle hours that i mention on video.msn.com? *Max i got around 300Kbps-400Kbps Throttled Speed: This picture where before 11AM, Non-throttle speed: Btw, what proxy setting did you use? Does Onion works? |

Tell people I have 4mbps also people will not believe when downloading via ftp
Download Ubuntu via ftp: 70 - 80kbps (Taiwan Chung Hwa) Download Ubuntu via http: 350 - 400kbps (University of Oregon) Download itunes via http: 500kbps Anyone have issue like such? I can't get much from tFlux lately due to this. I know the undersea cable is broken, but http and ftp differ much, doesn't seem right.
