I heard that you can't use the router built-in dialer, else will get disconnected frequently, must use the software dialer in the computer, is it true?

I just upgraded my line to 4mbps, and I noticed that my line get disconnected every 5 minutes, so i called them up, and they told me not to use the router built-in dialer and use the software dialer instead, using the windows software dialer indeed able to stay online a bit longer but it still get disconnected after 1 hour or more, but then I told them it is not possible, since I use the internet connection for Windows, Linux, Windows Mobile and other operating system, it is very hard to configure connection sharing using software, then they said streamyx is working to fix this problem and I am not the only one facing this problem in my area, so as mention in the previous post, this package is not ready yet, we are just a guinea pig for their testing.

I am not sure anyone experienced this before, but whenever I am connected to the Internet, immediately my PC will show the IP conflict error, it only happened when I am connected to the Internet only, and my PC is connected directly to the modem (point-to-point), I already check all the IP setting within the modem, so it is not possible to get an IP conflict error and there is no other device on the LAN except the modem and PC, but then when I try to change the IP range of the modem into a much more higher range which is by default starting from 192.168.1.1, later I found out that the problem disappeared.

Beside this I found out that whenever I am connected to the Internet, a browse to my modem web interface show me other brand of modem instead of mine, I can only access to my own modem when I disconnect the modem from the Internet, the modem supplied to me by streamyx is Riger but instead I saw Aztech, Billion and others which is clearly not my modem, but after when I changed the IP range as above only I can access to my modem web interface without any problem.

So it appear to me that, whenever I connect to this 4 Mbps line, I was like connected to a bigger LAN together with other 4 Mbps subscribers in my area, and this might be the reason why my Internet connection get disconnected very often, amazing isn't it but this is just my assumption only! biggrin.gif

"This package will replace any of existing Streamyx Combo packages and it is offered for new and existing Streamyx customers."

Does it mean existing Streamyx Combo user will get upgraded automatically to this new pricing too or else how to upgrade if you are already using 4Mbps?
