I'm going to give the 4 Mbps package a try. I'm already on the 2 Mbps package for RM188 so I might as well pay RM10 more for 4 Mbps. Will let you guys know how the process is. Applied today and was informed it will take less than 9 days to install. Application very smooth in Damansara Utama TM branch.

Current speed I'm getting now is below.

I AM EXTREMELY DISSATISFIED WITH STREAMYX'S CRAPPY SERVICE. I upgraded to 4 MB at the end of May due to the promotion but ever since installation, there has been frequent disconnection every 5 minutes making it impossible to use the internet. The installer Encik Azizul has come twice and said "there is nothing I can do". Streamyx helpline states "someone will call you tomorrow" but they never do. Now the next tactic is to ask you to call a Premier Hotline but once you do it asks you for a 6 digit pin. When you call back and ask the Streamyx helpline at 1300889515 they tell you they can't give you the 6 digit pin and that it's in the post!!!

Meanwhile, they have downgraded my speed to 1 MB but it still disconnects every 10 minutes.

Therefore, i can only conclude that the 4 MB package was launched before it is ready. Be very careful when upgrading to this package. Until today - the problem has not been rectified - more than a month later! I live in Bangsar, Kuala Lumpur and according to the call center personnel, many subscribers in Bangsar who upgraded to 4 MB are affected by this problem.

Looks like Bangsar and Damansara areas are badly affected. In one of my numerous calls the Helpline personnel said they are upgrading the lines in the area to solve the problem. My thinking is - "bro, if it takes you a couple of weeks/months to upgrade the wiring in Bangsar and Damansara - don't tell me I have to suffer the frequent disconnection until the work is completed!".

Has anyone tried changing the crappy Billion 5112S modem for another modem, for example a Linksys or Aztech one? Does it help?

I can't even tell if the ADSL light on the modem works properly - it seems to blink at a very high frequency but the modem can still connect, but it disconnects every 5 minutes.

In comparison, the previous Aztech modem I had when I had the 2MB package had a steady light and was so stable the connection could be maintained up to 1 month.

Added on July 4, 2007, 4:14 pmWas told by Streamyx Helpline can ask for a rebate by quoting the report no. Apparently, that's why they want us to take down the report no.

i'm using my own linksys adsl modem since day one, just keeping their billion modem as spare, actually the blink slow or fast , got meaning ..your installer didnt explain to you?
*
Nope - he didn't explain to me the meaning of the different blinking speed... Please share if you know what it means! Also - please let me know the model of your Linksys ADSL modem - it's obviously compatible with the 4 MB signal.

Also - the latest is my speed has been downgraded back to 2MB. At least it's more stable now and doesn't disconnect.

sorry forgot already that day he explain to me hehe...anyway my linksys modem is plain linksys am300 , some might call it crap , but it serves my purpose running a server that is up for 20 hours a day, heavy downloading and uploading at the same time, works just fine at 4mb , hell it working now at my 4mb++ speed hehe...probably your line cant cope 4mb ...maybe u can post your line stats here?
*
Quite confirmed that my line can't cope with 4 MB. TM Streamyx Helpline just told me the letter with the 6 digit pin code is to downgrade my line from 4 MB back to 2 MB. Don't know whether that's true but the 6 digit code is part of the downgrade process. What a waste of time.

Latest is that TM called yesterday to inform the 4 MB problem in Bangsar has been fixed and my line is now upgraded to 4 MB. Tried it out - now no disconnection. Line very stable. Fortunately I didn't downgrade to 2 MB package as advised by TM Point shop. Download speed using TM Net Speedometer is about 3600 kbps. Speed using testmy is about 1.5 Mbps.

The 4 MB package doesn't feel much faster than 2 MB package for surfing but when watching trailers or other downloads - its quite a bit quicker.

got my 6-digit pin yesterday. tried calling in to premium service complaining about speed not stable, while talking with operator, he said will right away reset my port, then I asked right now? he said yes, he is reconfiguring my port while talking, then after 30 second, picked up fax hear port resetting.  hahaha... that is VIP service  laugh.gif

4mb users, go get the pin....very fast service & well manner, not like that 1-300, asking you do this that, then suddenly line cut & resetting port take 48 hours to 1 week.

How did you get the 6 digit pin?? I still haven't received mine. Did you get it through the post or at the TMShop/Point?

Earlier I posted that the 4 MB service is stable in Bangsar. Now I notice it disconnects every day while I am out for work! Have to reconnect in the evening.

My 4MB package in Bangsar is plenty fast. With VPN can achieve download speed of 350-400 kbps regularly. I don't even have to keep trying for a 'good IP'. Anytime I connect able to achieve that speed.
