I am considering possibility of upgrading. Can anyone tell me if Streamyx Combo 4Mbps is available for Farlim/Ayer Itam , Penang area?

I tried several times before getting through 100 number only to get they can't answer my question and asked me to go to TMpoint.

Emailing help@tm.com.my, the reply was not available but not sure if I trust the response considering the support who replied said Streamyx Combo is RM268 not RM160

I just came back from TMPoint they discourage me from getting the 4MB package. Seems there is plenty of issues with it? They also telling me I am 2.05km from the exchange and it would probably be too unstable to get it. They are telling me even those customers who is under 2km already have issues with their line and to get really stable connection would be under 1.5km.

I was also told if I suffer any issues like no internet due to unstability/ Disconnection Problems etc I can't downgrade until after the 1 year period. I am also told if I really want it they can process my application and its final unless I can get the contractor who comes to test my line to quickly give me a letter on the spot to cancel if the contractor won't give the letter to me then its final I can't downgrade. Also word of mouth from the contractor is not allowed only letter can downgrade. WTF!

Shit, if unstable then susah loh. I don't think I will apply sad.gif

Omg, they gave you alot of crap and false information lol. By right, you were under 3KM from the exchange, you should manage to have 4mbps connection without any problems. If the line were alright. But your area must be supported for IPDSLAM.

There's no such thing, you can't downgrade for 1 year!. The process will be like, once the technician set your port up to 4mbps. You will receive a call from the technician and they will step into your house for the line test. From there, they will used their 4mbps streamyx account to test your line first. If the speedtest and everything is okay, then they only allowed to activate your streamyx account into 4mbps(Once it activate, then only you have to stick within a year). If your line couldn't reach the acceptance speed, they will cancel the order, back to the DSLAM and set back to your old streamyx speed.

The reason why those technician must come to your house for 4mbps is because they really need to test out the performance before release the service to customer, so customer won't stick for 1year after the activation on your account.

Which tmpoint you stepped into?
No activation, No contract.

Well, I told the TMPoint lady I previously emailed help@tm.com.my and that help email support told me under 3km can receive this service. She just look straight at me and repeatly said that only under 2km and preferably under 1.5km. She then talked with a senior staff who confirm to her what she said was true, including unable to downgrade etc.

She then kept saying once I signup at TMPoint there is no turning back unless the technician/contractor specifically gives me a letter after testing my line to allow for downgrade and that word of mouth does NOT count. Repeat that signup at TMPoint is final there is no going back, she also told me yes maybe your line ok during testing after a while later if have trouble I can't downgrade even if the issue can't be fixed by them that I will need to stick with it through whole 1 year period. I went to TMpoint Jalan Burmah, Pg.

1-2 weeks? Isn't this a bit long time? I thought upgrade to 4MB would be a lot quicker? How long after you apply before the technician contact you and come over?

I subscribe to 4MB since early this month and had issues getting it running properly. Started with problems getting technician to come over, several calls & emails nearly a week later finally tech came over and upgrade me, I request to be cap at exchange at 5MB to be able to received full 4MB speed which he kindly did, however till next day I still can't break over 2MB speed had to complain again to get full 4MB speed, which 24hrs later somebody decided to lowered my cap at exchange from 5MB to 4MB which took another couple of calls to get back in another day or two. I was then stuck in 115.13(3/4/5).xxx.xxx since then till today when I finally fed up and make another call this morning. About 5-6 hours later I am finally on 218.211.xxx.xxx ip range.

Download from download.microsoft.com can reach full 4MB speed when using flashget with 3 concurrent connections.

Here is some speedtest results:

Tested using 218.211.21.xxx

You will be placed in the premium IP group after a week or two automatically.

Not true, sometimes they don't change you to new ip range this is what happen to me. I subscribe early of the month, had to call 100 to complain couple days ago. Once they transfer your call to Premier CS they will be on it quite fast. Called them around 10 or 11 in morning within 6 hours later I am on 218.211

MX510 I know but why when the billing issue was brought up during the TM Customer Engagement meet they said there is no installation charge not mention shitmyx has successfully requested rebate.

QUOTE
The final specific issue which I brought up was the collection of RM88.00 for upgrade installation of Streamyx package. In the present of Jeremy Kung, the staff in charge clarified that there is no installation charge for existing customers who wants to upgrade. And whoever have been charged RM88 for installation during upgrade should contact TM Net as soon as possible.

it seems that emailing the higher management straight away is more effective than going through those CS monkeys thumbup.gif  thumbup.gif

Added on August 12, 2009, 6:13 pmAny of you guys having issues connecting to internet at night?

These days ever since I am on 218.211 ip range I am facing problems log in to internet at night. Manual connection usually gives out authentication Error 691. I have requested help from Premier CS team, previously they told me its server issues. I have confirmation about the issue I am facing regarding as to why I can't log in around 9 pm - 12 am. The issue is simply this, I was just told there is not enough allocated IP address (for my area?). They hope to resolve this soon sad.gif

Received a call during lunch from Premier CS, seems the issue is resolved, they said more ip addresses were allocated (for my area?). Tested tonight so far several times I tried, I can get in. Will see how it is this weekend.

I am curious, is the 218.211 ip range just for 4MB users (besides corp & business) or also for 2MB users as well?

Reason I am asking? Premier CS guy said only 4MB users that 2MB users are not under 218.211. Why I ask this? My log in issue (Errors 691 & 718) is back after several days of smooth log in and they claim to have allocated enough ip address (for my area?), as far as I know very few 4MB users my area since its just available only starting 30 June 2009 but there is quite a number of 2MB users here since its available quite a long time already.

WanR you should complain to Premier CS on your issues.

I couldn't get in when I tried around 9.20pm, only manage to get in around after 11pm. I already complain to Premier CS.

I still think there isn't enough IP address allocated (for my area?).

Troublesome...

WanR if your 4MB(maybe 2MB as well) user you can force them to transfer your call to Premier CS and complain to them. Might not be much, but at least they are suppose to be better than first level CS. Do screen capture of speedtests etc and send it to them after calling them.

You don't complain to them, then they will not know if you got problems. We can't just sit and do nothing, at least make them do some work. Phone them cause them write reports, do follow up ask status of report etc.
