I need some comments from you guys which using 4mbps.

I'm planning go for 4mbps since my area just available. Before i subscribe. I need to know the pros and cons right now, especially the changed of the new IP for 4mbps recently. What's the speed result for oversea connection? USA? and some other countries. Please provide the speedtest result, the best.

How was the performance on streaming videos? HD no problem?

Thanks

I just got my 4Mbps. It was troublesome process. I step into TMpoint more than 5times during this 2 weeks, and i referred to so many people for me to get this 4mbps. I don't know why it could be so hard and complicated to process for 4Mbps application compared to 1Mbps.

Here are my DSL specs

As you guys were able to get Premium IP, but what i got here is just CORE Network 115.133.XX.ZZ I tried to reconnect for many times, all falling back to the same subip address. Even i got requested to configure the port to higher speed, But what he told me. The management didn't allow to do so, at least i need to use more than a month only can request back again. I not sure about this, What you think guys? and how i able to get 218.111.XX.ZZ ip address?

My multiplexing is under FAST. How about you guys?

heck... i've applied my upgrade since last tuesday and till today habuk pun tarak. modem still showing downstream at 2mbps.
Should i call up TM 100?
*
You can try to call Streamyx Technical support. Ask about the application status. Jumpering and Speed Configuration.
Normally technician will do the both job in the same day. Like after they done the jumpering, What you will get in your modem status is capped under 2Mbps, then he will configure the speed to 4Mbps.

Lastly, installer guy will make an appointment with you.

QUOTE(BugFace @ Jun 30 2009, 01:02 PM)
I just came back from TMPoint they discourage me from getting the 4MB package. Seems there is plenty of issues with it? They also telling me I am 2.05km from the exchange and it would probably be too unstable to get it. They are telling me even those customers who is under 2km already have issues with their line and to get really stable connection would be under 1.5km.

I was also told if I suffer any issues like no internet due to unstability/ Disconnection Problems etc I can't downgrade until after the 1 year period. I am also told if I really want it they can process my application and its final unless I can get the contractor who comes to test my line to quickly give me a letter on the spot to cancel if the contractor won't give the letter to me then its final I can't downgrade. Also word of mouth from the contractor is not allowed only letter can downgrade. WTF!

Shit, if unstable then susah loh. I don't think I will apply sad.gif

Omg, they gave you alot of crap and false information lol. By right, you were under 3KM from the exchange, you should manage to have 4mbps connection without any problems. If the line were alright. But your area must be supported for IPDSLAM.

There's no such thing, you can't downgrade for 1 year!. The process will be like, once the technician set your port up to 4mbps. You will receive a call from the technician and they will step into your house for the line test. From there, they will used their 4mbps streamyx account to test your line first. If the speedtest and everything is okay, then they only allowed to activate your streamyx account into 4mbps(Once it activate, then only you have to stick within a year). If your line couldn't reach the acceptance speed, they will cancel the order, back to the DSLAM and set back to your old streamyx speed.

The reason why those technician must come to your house for 4mbps is because they really need to test out the performance before release the service to customer, so customer won't stick for 1year after the activation on your account.

Which tmpoint you stepped into?
No activation, No contract.

Need to wait until October to terminate my Lompat Jauh Jauh Package Streamyx 1 Mbps with Celcom RM 20 = 108 . Will be using 2 x 4 Mbps running at 5.5 Mbps each so total bandwith is 11 Mbps :-)

MX510, What were IPs you usually connected to?

I experienced the connection will being capped during 10am-1am. During this hours i will unable to stream most of the website, like myspace and msn video. The max speed i got is around 200-300Kbps ONLY @@. But on 2am-9am, I easily hit the max speed on all the streaming website. Do you guys having this matter?

Can I ask something ? The WiFi Modem given for free is actually a broadband modem with WiFi Capability is it ? Means that if my PC connected to the modem, then my laptop can access the internet thru WiFi right ? The price for 4mbps is really RM160 ? No hidden charge at all ?
*
The WiFi Modem is free.
All you have to pay everything on the 1st bill.
2months advance + Installation + Activation
Should be around RM478

I know the modem is free, but is it used like what I mentioned ? The installation cannot be waived if subscribe streamyx-in-a-box ? Thanks for the reply !
*
Lol, 4mbps doesn't come with streamyx-in-a-box. Your WiFi modem is going to deliver by a technician.
Installation have to take in place for 4mbps, because technician need to test out your connection before releasing the service to you. If your line doesn't make it to 4mbps, then will cancel your application immediately.

Damn Streamyx, I felt like i being cheated with the throttle speed on certain of international links especially on video.msn.com and sevenload.com

I observed my line for a week, and i found out that the throttle kicks in on my connection every 11AM and ends at 12:59AM midnight.

I only got full speed for most of the website after the throttle at 1AM until 10.59AM.

I don't know why Tmnut being so selfish on their bandwidth. If they throttle on Bittorent, I really okay with that, but not until certain of international link. I think that's too over. Anyway I will post all the print screen for you guys to see. Perhaps i will write an email, for them to clarify about this matter.

By the way, under the throttle hours, I only can bypass the throttle speed on my streaming website by tunneling SSH or using proxy. That's really obvious, when you used proxy, and it will be back normal, without proxy, maximum speed just around 300Kbps out of 4Mbps.

If possible, i would like to you guys to comment about this matter, Do you guys having this matter?
What's the speed you got under throttle hours that i mention on video.msn.com? *Max i got around 300Kbps-400Kbps
