By the way, what is currently distance from house to the DSLAM exchange? You may try to apply new line for 4Mbps. But for your information. If you're planning to register another new line just for the 4Mbps. I could say, stop thinking about it. Because once your TMHome line was activated. The telephone number will stick with you for a year contract. Terminating with penalty. For the worst scenario, even the newline that you were applied, does not manage to support up to 4Mbps and What you're going to do with the new line?

I know the distance shows in TM Point system is 1.75km.That's why I feel that the line attenuation is quite weird.It should be around 30db,right?

I also consider about the thing you are talking.However,I do want to get a higher speed because i have 3 computers at home and always use PPS or watch youtube at the same time.That's why 2M is not enough for me.

Line attenuation does not depend on the distance of the TMpoint exchange. It was DSLAM exchange, It looks like a pizzabox located beside the road. You can try ask for the distance by calling to Careline. If It's within 3KM, the line attenuation should be lesser than 25dB or 30dB. Yea, I understand your situation, but the poor line quality, really not advisable to subscribe it, even I think the technician will cancel your order, If the requirements not met. They don't want to give out service with not supported up to 4Mbps. In the end you will just keep sending reports back to Careline, if you're insist to have it.

Yes, Can be done. You may call them to help you transfer into nearest DSLAM. Just depending they want to do it or not only. Talk on the phone, they really can't do much thing for you as their job just to log reports and send back to the technician dept. If you do have the technician number, try to call him up and ask for help or step to nearest TMpoint.

Hope they will entertain your request. Mostly they won't do it if the DSLAM port you're connecting was fine. They only change for you, when there is a problem facing on your Streamyx line.

oic...I will call the technician tomorrow.I wish he would be willing to do that.I never think that this kind of upgrading will cost so much.

I think your account is still capped at 1Mbps,only your port is set at 2Mbps.So you could be getting a bit higher than 1Mbps.

what is your speedtest result ? exceed 1024kbps or ?

now my line is back to normal but sometime still having slow connection on the night~~~

Why are the dl and ul rate so weird???

it is in bps.. normally modem will show in kbps.. but, it is usual speed. 4mbps down and 512kbps up.

Well,I totally ended my dream of upgrading to 4Mbps.I was informed that the current DSLAM is the nearest one and there are no other options for me.The signal from the DSLAM is not strong enough and when it passes by bad copper line,it comes to be worse.
They even told me that according to the current figure,it may not work well at 2Mbps.However,I'm using 2Mbps for more than 1 year with few disconnection only.
The conclusion is I can enjoy 4Mbps.

I think the DSLAM you are connecting is so called 'mini DSLAM' which has limitations on port speeds.

My one is quite similar.I know there are some DSLAMs in my area.However,the technician told me that all these are normal one.If I wanna 4Mbps,the IPDSLAM only locates at the nearest TM exchange which I had tried before with weak signal.

oic..anybody knows wheres the tm exchange in klang? anybody here uses 4mb from klang area?...some people said that if u change the phone number u might have a better chance, the problem is that if u do get a new line+subscribe to 4mb and the line still not good enough then u r stuck with the contract..i guess that will be my last option , get one more account try get 4mb if cannot then downgrade to 1 mb but atleast i have 2 1mb line,so load balancing a bit, or perhaps get the business package (soho) ...what to do ,desperate
