SN Margin (AKA Signal to Noise Margin or Signal to Noise Ratio)
Relative strength of the DSL signal to Noise ratio. 6dB is the lowest dB manufactures specify for modem to be able to synch. In some instances interleaving* can help raise the noise margin to an acceptable level. The higher the number the better for this measurement.
> 6dB or below is bad and will experience no synch or intermittent synch problems
> 7dB-10dB is fair but does not leave much room for variances in conditions
> 11dB-20dB is good with no synch problems
> 20dB-28dB is excellent
> 29dB or above is outstanding

Line Attenuation
Measure of how much the signal has degraded between the DSLAM and the modem. Maximum signal loss recommendation is usually about 60dB. The lower the dB the better for this measurement.
> 20dB and below is outstanding
> 20dB-30dB is excellent
> 30dB-40dB is very good
> 40dB-50dB is good
> 50dB-60dB is poor and may experience connectivity issues
> 60dB or above is bad and will experience connectivity issues

Hey,i mentioned that you choose G.lite as your modulation, right?I think you'd better to change it to G.dmt because G.lite only supports up to 1.5mbps for downloading. smile.gif

what about to KL server or Penang server? if they give low ping but also low speed it indicates capping. That ping to singapore is 100+ms, not very accurate. If get <50ms to local and also very low speed, then it's capped

My friend fakap TM Premium Customer service and they removed his 4 Mbps from the cap, confirm Damansara area already enforced this new rules. In addition they also logged your internet activity, just mention ur traffic is not related to P2P, bit anger and emotion and they will removed u from the cap, TM.Nut is testing this new features and wanted feedback. So as users here we can lodge complaint regarding this issues to express our anger n disappointment. Make sure u got report no.

What's the point paying RM160 per month getting this piece of fakap service?

doesnt care you capped at how much mbps.. 5,6,7,8.. even 24mbps.. 4mbps user already capped at 4mbps speed.. so capped @5mbps is the best, to obtain 4mbps speed and also to obtain good line status (snr margin).

KKW, may be your aunt's place snr margin quite low..so 4mbps in the best instead of higher speed.

I think the installer just wanted to ensure the stablity first and then only about the speed.
For me,after capped the port at 5Mbps,the downstream margin is still around 17-18db.So I think the connection will have no issue upon this higher cap.
